Title: Measure fat content in meat
Post by: x_corina on April 14, 2011, 03:50:01 am
Hi, my name's Corina and i'm 15 years old.
Since 3 months i've been doing ZC due to many health issues and finding this as a last solution!
I am very dedicated and have been reading a lot.

I have one little problem though:
I get my meat from the grocery store, where there is always a little bit of dextrose added and it's always the same meat every time. I want to start eating organ meats as well.
My parents are very understanding and are willing to let me do this, and I think i can get them as far as to order me grassfed meat in bulk every month. Now, I want to do 80 fat/20 protein, but have no idea how i'm going measure this. I also don't have much money available!

Anyone has a solution for me as to what I could do?

Thanks for your time,
Corina

I'm not sure what kind of fats you like, but maybe you can request fat from your grass-fed meat source?    Maybe there is somewhere that you can get the fat trimmings for free?

i'm not sure how to ensure 80%, though. i usually just eat the amount of fat i feel like for that day.  sometimes it's only a little sometimes it can be a lot, usually somewhere in the middle.

what are you eating now?, and how is that working for you?

Hi there. Some lamb mince (ground meat) is 80/20 by calories already, you can check the printed nutritional information.

If it's not quite 80/20, consider that it may be enough. People have reported doing well on slightly different ratios.

And yes it's worth putting in the effort to get a fat source, suet, bone marrow, beef tongue, lamb fat.

I could never do 80/20. My fat is 67-69 and rest protein (about 1% carbs). I need more protein for satiety and building.

You can play around with Fitday to get a combination of foods that fit your percentages. I use Fitday each day.
