Title: liver...too much of a good thing?
Post by: awesomeame on August 05, 2011, 08:20:14 pm
I love eating raw beef liver, I look forward to it daily.  But how much is too much?  Guess I'm worried about the vitamin A content...could it be too much of a good thing?  I generally eat 2-3oz/day, which is 192-287% of the daily recommended allowance....that combined with the rest of my diet puts me at around 500-750% of my daily allowance...is it too much, or?

update:

Well 900mcg is the recommended daily limit allowance published by fda or whoever.  But found this in wikipedia:

Quote
The U.S. Institute of Medicine has established Daily Tolerable Upper Levels (UL) of intake for vitamin A from supplements that apply to healthy populations, in order to help prevent the risk of vitamin A toxicity. These levels for preformed vitamin A in micrograms (µg)

19+ years: 3000 µg

so seems we should all be good for 3000mcg, or 333% of daily recommended.

That's all I could come up with...anyone else?
