Title: Making lungs into a tasty on the go snack!
Post by: RogueFarmer on October 02, 2011, 12:14:08 am
I read in a thread that most people don't like lungs. I think even most SAD dieters would like this simple trick.
We just cut the goat lungs into ribbons and put them in the solar dehydrator. They ended up like a cross between jerky and styrophome. Not unlike those weird puffy fish chips, though a bit more chewy.
I read that native americans would simply hang ribbons of deer lungs on a tree branch until they were dried and store them for later use.
However, some of mine started to go moldy, in an airtight jar, I think they needed air... I was so upset and didn't want to waste them that I promptly dispatched them right then and there! Still tasted good!

What do they taste like? Goat meat.

If I remember correctly the taste wasn't far off from the goat jerky. We did make them together in the same solar dehydrator though.
I can pretty much positive anyone would like this, even "normies".
No it's not the best tasting thing in the world, but it's "good enough" to eat.

To me, it is tasteless cartilage, of no nutritional value.

Lung is muscle, which has some cartilage mixed in. This cartilage is easily chewable, digestible and a pleasure to eat. There is also some really nice fat that comes with the lungs too, and other bits of meat attached to it which are nice. It's a very refreshing food. Tyler is the only tasteless cartilage.

I had a bunch of rabbit lungs before and they tasted like mushrooms. They even had the consistency of mushrooms. I cooked them, however because it was my first time eating lung. I fried them in onions and butter. If I wouldn't have told people it's lung, they would've easily believed it's onions and mushrooms fried in butter. Very fluffy.
