Title: Honey and botulism
Post by: raw-al on February 03, 2012, 12:38:45 pm
I read that honey can be a source of botulism and should not be fed to infants. Is this true.

I wonder if indeed this occurred and if it was with heated honey.

Does anyone know anything about this?

Ayurveda says that you should never heat honey or else it turns toxic. (aggravates Pitta)

Ay. Also says you should never eat equal amounts of honey and ghee (which is heated butter that has the milk solids removed.)

However it also says that unequal amounts of them is very good. They have a synergistic effect. ie more honey when mixed with ghee is good for the nerves and more ghee when mixed with honey is good for the brain.

My Mom gave me honey when I was tiny infant, and her mother gave her honey the same way. Pasteurized honey kills.
