Title: Your way of eating raw animal fat/organ/muscle?

Hi..

I'm planning on buying some (ox or pig) organs like kidney soon and I want to try eating them raw. Can anyone tell me how you eat them? Do you just cut them in small pieces and chew it or don't you chew at all? Is there any way it should be prepared?

Another thing is.. I've found that with muscle meats that have some fat and connective tissue, like pork chops, it is extremely hard to bite through some of the fat (or connective tissue I don't know what it is). I always accumulate this mass of something I can't bite through in my mouth when I eat muscle meats that have fat and connective tissue. My question is should I simply spit it out every time? Or should I just swallow it with some water (will it get digested or will it be very hard to digest?)


Can someone please post their daily meal plan for a couple of days, including everything you eat/drink on those days? I'm really curious as to how others are managing this diet and I need more inspiration..!

For me it varies a lot what I eat but a day might look something like this:

Morning (am)
Wild Caught Salmon, 1 pound, raw
1 Cup veggie juice

Afternoon
Beef tenderloin, 1 pound, very rare
1 avocado

Evening
1 chicken leg
small salad

Snacks in between: 1/2 cup almonds

I just cut them into pieces small enough to fit into my mouth and bolt them down with very little chewing. When I first started, I would spit out some stuff but , these days, I eat it all, mostly.

lately i've just been grabbing a hunk of meat (like a whole pork chop) and just gnawing on it until im done. holding it with two bare hands feels especially good. also, it's a great workout for your neck. can already feel my neck getting stronger

I use scissors on my right hand.
And my left hand puts the cut small pieces in my mouth.

I kind of feel like I'm eating way too much meat, what do you guys think? Part of me just still hasn't gotten completely over the information spread around that meat is unhealthy, you know..

Just follow your instincts. There's no point in eating the same amounts others are eating as everyone has a different metabolic-rate/bodyweight etc. Have a look at the off-topic what are you eating right now subject as that shows what people are eating everyday.

Tyler is right about the instinct thing.  Adjust as you go along.

Me, I'm a small guy 5' 5" and 123 lbs. And I live in Manila, Philippines.  So we have different things. I'm a computer geek / website developer, so I'm mostly sedentary, unless on weekends I run around with the kids in the community track.

Mornings:
Usually coconut juice and coconut meat (coconut meat is fat) (around 1 coconut)
plus a fruit in season: papaya / chico / mango
plus 2 or 3 fertilized eggs if there is any around.

I usually wait after an hour then I poop.

Mid morning snack only if I get hungry, either a piece of fruit, nuts or another coconut.

Lunch time:
1 pound of meat thereabouts... beef, or goat or fish... I try to see I have adequate fat.

Mid afternoon snack only if I get hungry, either a piece of fruit, nuts or another coconut.

Dinner:
Usually less than what I had for lunch.  Sometimes I pig out at lunch and skip dinner.

I'm very conscious about making sure I eat what makes me poop regularly at least once per day.  Carry over of teachings from Barefoot Herbalist MH.  What makes me poop is fruit and fat.

I also do not drink water.  I think coconuts and fruits are better hydrating sources than any water out there.

In no way do I recommend what I do right now.  I do not think I am "there" yet to tell you this is correct.  I've only been on raw paleo for 11 months.

I trim everything and slice or dice it. Doggie gets the trimmings. Chewing is minimal, and I can leave in some of the healthful connective tissue since it's diced.

I plate our raw meats artfully with relishes that aid digestion like raw cultured veggies, herbs, shaved ginger or horseradish. I try to make it look beautiful. I also serve a small cup of digestive tea like green tea or oregano tea. Plates are served at room temp, tea is warm. For fish we use chopsticks, for marrow we use demitasse spoons, and all else gets a cocktail fork.

I'll post a few pics eventually.

I think it's very important to enjoy what you eat, and this works for us. Part of the success of this diet i think is reconnecting with yourself through experimentation.

Thanks very much for your replies.

I really feel better now knowing I'm not not the only one who eats 2 pounds or more of meat per day. I guess I just have to get my mind accept the idea that meats are very healthy, which is completely contrary to what is being taught by most people.

Yeah, I eat over 2 lbs of meat per day too.

How it eat it depends on what it is... stuff like liver, kidneys, and ground beef I will eat with a fork. Things like steak, heart, etc., I will hold with my hands and just bite it
