Title: Anopsology feels much more proper
Post by: Barefoot Instincto on August 30, 2012, 11:32:40 pm
So I got into paleo a few months ago and have been making strides as I go. I started with cooked paleo, then moved on to raw paleo (all organic), although not yet fully committed. Everything except my meat is always raw. My meat I tend to cook on very low heat, and so that its still decently pink and raw in the middle. Generally I do eat raw eggs, and sometimes fully raw meat, but for now I'm settling on a half approach.

I then felt that Anopsology was the next level, because everything about it just made so much sense to me. So I began a new structure of diet, mainly focusing on single foods. It varies day be day, but generally I'll eat a pound of a type of fruit for a meal, two meals of meat 1/3 lb to 1/2 lb each, with no sauce, just bare. I'll also eat about 2 lbs of either 1 type of veg or 2, and I always vary what I eat day by day depending on what I feel like, so the amounts, type and structure changes. It was sooo satisfying to eat a pound and a half of grapes yesterday, and a pound of blueberry's the day before, and a pound of peaches before that. Twice a week I'll eat a meal of raw nuts. Almost every meal I have now is a single food at a time, always separated by 1 or 2 hours or more (generally 2-4). Twice a week or so on the weekends I'll have cheat meals.

When I do this I imagine this being so much easier on my body in every way. I've only been doing it for two weeks this way now, but I've been feeling better and I'm becoming very lean and strong. At no other point in my life have I looked so good (and got my six pack!). It feels like Anopsology was the last step I was missing, and when I took it, I finally started to feel like I'm building a proper body. I know I've got so many years left still to really get out of my life long garbage food eating and binging though.

So the question I have for all of you is do you just disregard how much eating this way makes sense in favour of finding comfort in the constant mixing of food?
It seems to me that the level of commitment towards raw Anopsology paleo is extremely low, when in reality it seems like the far better diet in terms of satisfaction and intelligent structure. With the world we live in today and the way we treat our bodies, I feel that the most maximum level of simplicity for your stomach, while still providing maximum nutrition, is the most sound route to take for life long health.

Hi bf Instincto,
I'm glad you're feeling great eating raw, and welcome to the forum. I didn't see where we are supposed to eat grapes or mono-foods all day in GCB's literature. I get a clear stop and start from eating one food until I'm done, but often it is only a few bites. Sometimes I don't eat the whole apple, that smelled good at first. I have never finished off a whole liver. I rarely even eat a big chunk. Once I have a stop with all "natural" food looses its appeal and when I get hungry later I often don't want more of a food I've had earlier in the day.
I really don't know if I'm on the right tract either, since I've never taken a seminar.

Are you actually a barefoot walk/run/live'r? I love being barefoot and connected to earth, so nice if you are too

Thanks for the welcome. I've been browsing the site for a few months, greedily soaking up information.

I may not be following GCB's literature to the letter (like how he suggests only eating two meals per day, once at 12 and another at 6! Hellll no!) But I'm now a firm believer that our systems can only truly work properly and at its most effecient when single foods go in. I imagine the food traveling through my intenstines fairly separated and in sections, allowing my body to gather clear signals and operate correctly.

I just make sure that I'm careful with my total days intake, getting enough of this or that etc. No just eating fruit an entire day , or veg another etc. Each day there's about 5 or 6 different foods that I eat (at least 1 each of a veg, meat, and fruit), and everyday it varies depending on what I feel like and what I don't.

I've still got a ton of learning to do, but I feel so far I'm on the best track I can be for now. I'm sure I'll learn and discover more as I go. I make sure to pay attention to my stop and start signals, and my instincts, which I can tell are getting stronger and more in tune. Right now I think its still quite messed up but they seem to be at least steering me in the right direction so far.

Glad to meet another barefooter! I think I'm one of the rare few out of the millions in my area who do it regurarly in public and stuff for things like running. I'm still adapting (and using vibrams for a lot of things like trails) but I'm comitted! Eventually I want to live and breath barefoot, because it feels so much more right. Years of shoes have screwed my feet and posture though so its going to be a long road. I want to be one of those individuals who can handle anything barefoot with ease, even if that means hours of running on rocks. Simply because I know its possible and not only that, its what we're all SUPPOSED to be able to do.

Welcome ! I'm also mostly barefoot in summer and I've been eating instincto-way whole year round for 25 years.

Your way of eating one stuff per meal is like the one advocated by our friend Dominique Guyaux and it seems to be fine for some people. GCB and a few other instinctos including me tried it, some with success. This is just a variant with a slightly different way of practicing. There's no fixed and definitive rule about it and every one is of course free of trying / practicing one way or the other about the number and timing of meals.

I eat one item at a time because it is practical.  And I like it that way.  For me, combining stuff is when there is a recipe or medicine need for it or usually for folks who are new to raw.

Yes, the question is "how long before I eat the next item?"

The answer should be "when I'm hungry again". But hunger can be hard to appreciate, sometimes we think we are hungry but it's only for psychological reasons, boredom, inactivity, detox or so. Ideally, smell should be the indicator: eat something when its smell induce salivation... And in the wild, it's hard to find a lot of different stuffs triggering salivation at the same place and the same time. The situation might be confusing at home when we have a lot of different foods available here and now. Moreover, we can also sometimes mentally induce salivation just by wishing to eat something!
