Title: What kind of water do you drink?
Post by: LePatron7 on December 11, 2012, 07:45:21 am
I've been drinking tap water  -v since going back to mainly SAD.

I notice it feels like I don't get the full benefits of drinking water, detox, assimilation of nutrients, etc. It feels like every little bit I drink my body's trying to detox the chlorine and other crap in it.

I was drinking distilled before. I just started again. I'm noticing I feel more hydrated with distilled, and it feels like I can drink less and feel better.

I try to avoid pure / plain water.

hydrating fruits
hydrating root crops
warm herbal teas
coconut water
reverse osmosis store water + squeeze a lemon or a calamansi (sometimes add a touch of honey)
meat muscle plasma

When in London, I quickly found that, on a rawpalaeodiet, my appetite for  raw foods decreased when I consumed the chlorinated tapwater, and I found the food less tasty. As soon as I switched to drinking only alkaline mineral water, I regained my interest in raw foods. Now I live in an area which has water from mountain-streams issuing from the tap, so I don't worry about drinking tapwater here.

Best tasting mineral water is PH 8.0 to PH 8.4

There’s already been a lot of threads about drinking water. A quick search before starting a new thread would prevent dispersal while freeing us of having to repeat the same things over and over again.

A few examples, but there are many more:

http://www.rawpaleodietforum.com/general-discussion/drinking-water-while-excersizing/ (http://www.rawpaleodietforum.com/general-discussion/drinking-water-while-excersizing/)

Anyway, it’s obvious that chlorine is a poison and should be totally avoided. We can drink mineral water, unpolluted spring, stream and lakes water, rain water, coconut water and even some seawater when no soft water is available.

Drink when you’re thirsty and as much as needed to calm your thirst, but avoid drinking after a meal because water dilutes the gastric juice, hampering digestion. Thus, drink as much as you feel like before the meals. If you have a choice of different waters, drink the one you like most.

Further to the water matter, and for what its worth, if one eats according to senses and bodily responses, and at times eats quite plant-centric intakes, with decent volumes of fruit and vegies as I do, the amount of additional water drunk may be very small indeed, because the water content of the plant matter is already considerable.
The clarity, and volume of urine provide good indicators.

Wouldn't the same thing hold true for meats? Most meats are 75% water.

Hi DaBoss,  :)
Yes, though generally fat in some form is eaten with the meats, rather than just large amounts of lean meat. Personally I have observed that when larger amounts of fatty meat is eaten, the amount of urine is reduced, by comparison to when larger amounts of fruit and/or vegies, or if lean meat is eaten without a decent fat component.
Kind wishes, J

Avoid distilled water like the plague! I tried to drink it during one or two experiments. It  was a disaster, as I never felt hydrated enough and felt the urge to constantly drink more distilled water. Ghastly cravings resulted, and other side-effects.

Distilled water leads to leeching of minerals etc. It can be very dangerous/lethal if you overindulge.

I've read up on it and I really don't think it causes leeching of minerals. For over a year I drank 2 gallons daily. When I had my routine blood work done, the only thing that was low was calcium. Which was because I had been eating SCD without dairy, so I wasn't getting any calcium. When I started taking a calcium supplement, my calcium levels returned to normal.

Being that I drank 2 gallons daily for a year+ without problems, I doubt it can be lethal.

It also doesn't make sense that distilled water would cause mineral leeching. Distilled water is essentially the same thing as rain water, and I see lots of animals drink rain water.

Something else to mention.. I routinely had flocks of ants drinking from my distilled water container. They'd literally crawl in and drink, many would fall in and die.

My wife and i were on SAD some 11 years ago when we did our distilled water only experiments. After 6 months we were getting too sick we understood it was the distilled water.  We switched to spring water.

I'll keep an eye open based on your experiences, but I've never had problems with previous experiences.

the best water i have ever had is pure water from the earth in west jackson hole wyoming.  yellowstone national park has an incredible amount of geothermal activity and sooo much water bubbling right under the ground.  the water was so pure and delicious, i cannot describe the taste
i drink reverse osmosis though, i cant stomach tap water.  i eat a lot of salt and mineral rich foods which i hope balances the pulling effect of RO water.  i'd like to get so more nice clay to add to my jugs.

That area is very heavy in volcanic activity, which means the water is probably rich in minerals, including ormus. That's probably the biggest reason it tastes so good.

Has anyone experimented with treating your water drinking as if it was a meal? So at several points in the day (separated from food meals) you might down 300-500mls at once, when you feel like it. For most of my life I've sipped on water all day, but I think what might be more natural would be more of a waterfall, than a trickle.

I think most natural would be drinking blood.

On average I drink two 500 ml portions of water per day. Always at least 30 minutes before a meal, or approx. 3 hours afterwards so it doesn't combine with the food I eat. I filter the chlorine out of tap water through a Brita jug because I'm not sure how to find trustworthy mineral water. When I was a kid I would always take long drinks of water directly from the tap throughout the day, but I prefer this method now ;D

Thank you so much for this. I had no idea there would be a free and public spring so close to me, just a drive away. I feel like this could really help me heal.

id say go for milk if you want to really supercharge healing. water makes me feel like crap personally.  even super pure spring water.

Well I just found out that my local government placed a huge boulder over the spring and covered it with gravel so it's not accessible anymore. Cited concerns over people crossing train tracks illegally to get to it. Unbelievable.

I drank raw goat's milk for a while but it was expensive and I never really liked it. I don't think milk's for me.

That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. The government is out of control. What a power trip.....

Yeah I'm not impressed. I joined the facebook group to reopen the spring and will probably be making some calls to the municipality about it.

Haha... you have a strange sense of humour. There's another spring less than an hour away, and fluoride's never been added to the drinking water here, praise the stars.
