Title: Social gathering
Post by: Nicola on December 26, 2008, 09:50:02 pm
I have just seen my mother&father, brother and sister (with children) at Christmas. They had a "normal" meal; first a little samon with toast, then a little meat, potato, brokkoli and some ice cream for dessert. They are all a normal size so I was looking for any illness that could be coming up...I felt soooo not normal again - me eating like we/you do and them eating "normal". I am not saying that I would like to eat what they are eating but I just know I eat a lot of raw meat and they would not even think of eating raw!

Oh and they didn't move much; my brother is 40 years now and I don't think he does more than go to work (to the office in his car)...

Christmas was a menu for you all too - raw meat and fat?... but what about the other members at the meetup? Are they all unhealthy or is this what will happen if they don't pig out on meat and fat?

I looked at the children and thought; would you eat that and will this just take time for things to bother you and for you to get ill?

Tyler, Lex and others; is your family all ill or have you just been extreme in your life and caused bad health that way. My father and mother have never eaten extreme but they don't eat all that healthy - just home made, 3 meals and very "ladylike".

I was raised by a mother who introduced me to a semi-weston-price diet(ie lots of visits to restaurants offering wild stagmeat/wild boar meat etc., plus her home-cooking was pretty good as it included lot sof (cooked0 organ-meats, so, by the standards of modern diets, it was pretty good.  Food at private school was bad, but what made things worse was that dairy was widely available at school and at home( as was bread). The result was that my health deteriorated over time - all because general modern dietary guidelines all heavily recommend dairy as a health-food when it is a pure poison for many. If I'd never touched dairy in my entire life, I suspect that I would only have started deteriorating, healthwise, from the age of 40(I would still have had issues with some processed foods , though, such as additives/chemicals etc.)

That said, my family members have pretty much  started deteriorating after the age of 40, some before that point. My oldest brother had an accident with an electricity-wire causing the loss of both his feet so that he needed artificial legs. He was in great pain for the rest of his life, having to take pain-killers and various drugs(eg:- cannabis etc.) to kill the pain. He died at the age of 28  as a result of an accident, not as a result of his injuries, though.

Then there's my doctor uncle:- He openly sniggers at my diet, yet at the age of 68/69, he's in appalling shape. His joints are so f*cked that he had to, on one occasion, crawl, like a baby, up the steep steps of my Italian home when returning from the beach, because he'd forgotten to take his pain-killers. He also, like all of his generation, has to take endless artificial supplements to make up for the deficiencies in his so-called balanced diet. His daughters are in their 30s and all 3 of them had their beauty fade very quickly after the age of 20 or so, the result being that they tend to overuse make-up. Normally, women only have their skin deteriorate re wrinkles etc. at the age of 30, but, no doubt due to eating processed diets and bad genes, they deteriorated faster than others. Same goes for their mother who goes in for huge numbers of supplements such as coenzyme q10, but these have done nothing to slow down her aging.

My mother is in better shape than my uncle(her brother), even though she's older than him by 7 years. However, the primary reason for this is that she loves starving herself, practising caloric restriction. She also eats lots of plant-food(cooked minimally) which helps avoid the buildup of toxins caused by eating lots of  heavily-cooked fat-heavy animal-food.

My other aunt and uncle are both riddled with cancer and are mostly vegan. Their daughter is quite healthy for her age(49?) with their son's family having childhood asthma etc., because the son's  wife insists on smoking heavily and taking her kids to McDonald's all the time, because she hates cooking etc.

Oh, yes, and my father died at the age of 70, hugely obese, and riddled with diabetes, dying of a heart-attack.. He ate the usual bad foods such as grilled meats, potatoes etc.

Really? I find that it can be  anywhere from the age of 19(eg:- for dark mediterranean types such as I find in some places in Italy) to 40(if with good genes).

Nicola,

It sounds like your Family is at least ahead of the SAD game by eating Homemade food. My Step Father, who does eat processed food from time to time, eats mostly home cooked meals and just celebrated his 90th Birthday. I attribute his home cooking to keeping my Mother's Cancer at bay a while longer. I think without his cooking, she wouldn't have lived as long as she did.

Best wishes,
and Happy New year!

Nicola I'm wondering if you have thought about eating what your family eats when you're with them.  And then again, maybe you do.  I know you have been guided a lot from Barry, and it seems like you get confused as to which 'side of the fence to eat on'.  So possibly a little experiment might help you.  My suggestion though from experience would be to limit yourself to smaller portions, as it it easy for some to all of a sudden simply load your plate with things you might of been wanting for some time but had restricted yourself from.  And another thing if you do,  don't think about it.  For that is a sure way to cause indigestion.    Sharing food together can be a real way to share love.  And maybe for the few days in sharing, it may be just as healthy as raw, you know, all that extra love.  Just a thought.

Yesterday my wife's relatives had the grand reunion.
Food was "normal" Filipino food.
I did cooked meat paleo and raw ripe fruits.
In the evening I took my dose of herbal colon cleanser and pooped away yesterday's social food.

I gave every family unit an out of print book "Food is your best medicine" by Henry Bieler.  And I gifted everyone with a DVD about food.  In the cover of the book I also printed my website www.curemanual.com

As is usual, the eldest people there had their aches and pains.  3 of the eldest ones had been diagnosed with cancer.  So I was hard at work teaching them basic things to get them interested.

My wife's cousin (male) at 42 greeted me all smiles why I look so handsome from last year... I said I'll teach him what I know... share and share... turns out his wife at 42 had so many illnesses as well... myoma, thyroid, been on drugs for 8 years... but she looks slim and sexy.

When people know you are the health guru and they can see you get handsome results... (no white hair, no balding, looks younger) they reveal to you their problems.

ive still got grey hair, RPD hasnt helped that but its thick and not receding. My family look young and fit owing mainly to very small semi Weston Price type meals no junk and lots of excercise.

I owe the blackening of my hair to a high vitamin C + fatty daily breakfast.

You have a quire idea of food "just running threw to the colon" and being pooped out (with help)!!! Food should be absorbed by the body so that the colon does not have food!

By the way, why not build your body (muscle) insted of being so concerned about what runs threw (picture of your body on one of the photos).

Van, I don't think the so called "extra love" would be given threw eating cooked food with my family. You should be loved for what you are and not what you eat.

I am more interested in what you see; are your family ill or can you see that they will be falling ill in a few years?

My brother did mention "acid reflux" and others mentioned also having this problem at the table. They put it down to "body chemistry"! My sisters husband is 54 years and he has got a sticking out belly (things must be fermenting away); he will be in for trouble...What I can say is that the hair of all (not the children) did not have any shine and most of them have smelly breath (the one with the belly has very bad smelly breath).

I agree with your 'should'.  But sometimes people's ideas or thoughts get in their way of expressing the love that is already there.  So then, all I was indicating was the notion of giving them, and maybe yourself one less thing to think about, so that it can be more of a spontaneous celebration.  That's all.      Have you ever met Barry?  Does his hair and skin shine?  Does his breath smell good? Waist line trim?  I am curious.

There are photos of Barry Groves online, he seems much the same as anyone else his age, IMO.

if/when i feel free to be myself in a particular social/cultural environment, i use my mouth for grinning, talking, singing... & do my own eating in the most conducive circumstances
if i feel otherwise, i make the encounter so short, politely, that there's no time to pop any1 in my mouth

good, but for Nicola, as I have read and interpreted, she seems to have difficulty having to 'explain' her diet with her family which she seems to like to be with for at least some time, maybe longer than just the hours that surround a single meal.  And she has made comments suggesting doubts surrounding the 'truth' behind raw from comments relating to Barry and Charles.  Hence the suggestion to make a little experiment while with her family; to just share in their cooked food, and I should have added that she necessarily wouldn't have to eat much of the carb offerings.  This way the seeming friction that she has described over her food choices and her 'doubts' over whether she needs to eat raw might be explored.  Also it also can provide inquiry as to beliefs, that elusive construct that for most is so difficult to peel away.  For how many times have we all thought that our current way of eating was optimal, but then to find ourselves adopting another......
