It's terrible. The U.S. regulators (top FDA officials), politicians, and corporations work very closely together to give them the green light to make a huge profit. A lot of these people will work for Monsanto, then become a top official at the FDA. It's a revolving door where the biotech giants get regulations placed to help them.
Right now there's a huge demand for GMO labeling, and the politicians aren't doing anything. At least smart companies like Whole Foods will have GMO's labelled.
I think we should make a free website discussing everything that has to do with GMO's in support of getting them A) labeled, or B) (preferably) banned

It may have to be a "one step at a time" sort of thing. After all, people don't really care about grains being organic/gmo-free/etc. since they are grains and they incite this drug-like effect upon us. GMO is probably the most obvious offender currently and a clear sign of the times (zeitgeist). However, there is still the issue of how to change our view of grains/self-serving technology to support grains into something else when literally our whole economy is based off of grains. I hate being a pessimist but rather a realist and I'm not sure if there is anything we can do in this David V. Goliath match-up. Not to say I wouldn't try. I'm just saying I'm not sure what could possibly be effective, as I don't know history very well, and the best I can think of is an absolute revolt against the "system." Perhaps a revolution is nigh, but I don't know how to start it. The sad part is people die in true revolutions and usually it's on the small-guy-side of things. Still, changing our grain-based economy seems impossible, as it would require a complete rework of our market.

This article explains how we could literally replace (most) grain farming with pasture raised animals.
They explain how a large portion of land being used to grow grain goes directly to feeding livestock. If they got rid of the grain farming and instead put pastures and pastured based animals, they could wipe out tons of grain farming and have tons of grass fed beef. They also go on to mention the environmental benefits of pastures vs. grain farms.

I agree entirely and have speculated this a lot. It still raises the issue of HOW do we get people to change. Science has been biased towards plant based agriculture for almost a hundred years now. People believe so strongly in quinoa and amaranth and farroh that they think beef is the enemy. Ignore any science against "healthy grains"

Well really I think it's about putting the information out there. I think we need to think in terms of baby steps.
People aren't going to instantly want to eat raw. But I think raising awareness about GMO's would be very helpful. I predict in the coming years (very soon) that we'll be seeing a lot more than the few GMO's we have right now.
Right now there's GMO papaya (which is only grown in Hawaii), a few grains, and that's pretty much it.
But soon there's going to be GMO bananas, oranges, SALMON, AND PORK. It's just a matter of time before our entire food supply has a GMO equivalent, and without labeling there's no knowing what we're buying.
We need GMO's labeled.

We had an issue here in europe where gmo corn was imported as organic corn and sold to us humans. I wouldn't be surprised to eventually here of mislabelling of organic products in the USA.
