Exercise / Bodybuilding / Re: Upper Body Exercises
« on: March 06, 2012, 11:03:05 pm »
Swimming is great for the upper body - completely natural movement.

We have an ancestral history that goes back to the trees., so brachiation is a great upper body exercise, especially for grip strength:

Monkey bars
Rope-Climbing
Tree-Climbing

Also, take a look at how male gymnasts train. They have impressive upper-bodies by training all naturally - they train like they are monkeys balancing and swinging in the trees.

Do you sell any organs?

I couldn't find it on the site.

I have seen Michael Rae (a prominent calorie restriction follower) give a detailed analysis of the data, concluding that IF is not beneficial, per se, and that IF benefits are derived from the unintentional caloric restriction.

He's probably right, but my gut tells me that IF is the way to go over chronic calorie restriction.

IF is the more natural pattern for us and animals. When we make a kill or find a fruit tree, we eat "ad libitum", then we go with no food until we find more.

IF gives the digestive system periods of total rest, but always undereating always keeps it working just as much as any standard 3+meal-a-day eater.

Hunter-gatherers are always a great reference.

However we should keep in mind that modern hunter-gatherers

1. Live in extremely undesirable resource environments (else they would have already been pushed off their land)

2. Use the technology of fire to process certain plants (especially roots and tubers) to make them edible

General Discussion / Re: Teenage Acne Problem
« on: March 03, 2012, 11:07:45 am »
I have had acne problems in the past, and I still get breakouts especially if I eat sugar.

Raw diet should clear it up over time.

If you want faster results, you might want to think about fasting - eating no food at all. I have especially had luck with this method.

I think that the acne, zits, pimples, or whatever - are the body trying to expel some sort of toxin out of the body.

So the cure for acne is to

1. Get the toxins out of the body
2. Stop putting new toxins into the body

Awesome, are those your cows?

How many do you have and what kind are they?

It is cheaper, but i would prefer something natural

It sounds like something that is highly processed - ie not natural at all.

You could say that taking testosterone or HGH is just as natural.

The whole thing sounds like a gimmick to me. I would stay away from it.

Eat what you please. Everything else is theory.

Isn't eating raw just a theory also?

Many people will say it is fine.

I ate copious amounts of butter myself for a long time. Boy do I love butter.

Eventually I began to feel that it isn't natural for butter to be my main fat source like that.

No other animals eat like that.

We should also go out and make our home productions.

Invite some sponsors so it be sustainable.

Our own youtube channel?

Our voices, our point of view... to our satisfaction so we convey our message across.

It will happen...

Is there really no one doing this? Seems like it could be a big opportunity for someone.

Primal Diet / Re: FDA raid Amish farm-raw milk

The Leviathin gov't knows that to keep its power, anyone who isn't already controlled must be brought into line, by any means necessary.

Seems like they're getting desperate lately though

The cooked paleolithic thing is tough.

I remember when I made the connection that 100% raw was the logical conclusion of eating correctly, it took me more than 6 months to even begin experimenting with eggs and beef.

Liver I actually gagged on the first few times. Now bloody raw liver is probably my favorite food.

Chicken? Forget it! Took me more months to build up the confidence to try.

There are so many psychological blocks and propaganda to overcome.

To go cooked paleo or raw vegan is nothing. That's just eating 'normal' food in different proportions and excluding others.

But raw animal foods is a whole new ballgame. It's uncharted territory. And everyone has been told - and fully believes - that they'll get sick and die.

Will videos like this convince them? Hopefully it will make some of them begin to  think about it so that further on down the road they can begin experimenting with it.

But I don't think we will ever see a large change.

So who is volunteering for your own bloodline's extermination?

I'm kind of with this sentiment.

Of course if you do the math, at the current rate of human reproduction in less than a million years there will be more humans than there are atoms in the universe.

But who cares? We should just let it play out. Nature has a way of balancing things out, and we are nowhere near that point yet.

I was driving through Nebraska not too long ago, and I can tell you that there is still plenty of space on this earth.

This fear we have of overpopulation just gives politicians and others who like to control people another point of leverage.

I get the feeling that Gates is sincere in believing that he is doing the right thing.

He probably believes that "population overgrowth" would be a bad thing for the world.

Maybe he's not thinking enough about individual rights.

Which cut of the cow is the most healthiest for us? I'm working on a beef shank. I got it because of the marrow. The meat are really tough! Not a good choice for me, a newbie. Is the back fat better or the soft Fat inside the beef? Lol, I have alot of question. Thanks ya

When wild predators make a kill, they go for the innards first. The organs and the interior fat. Especially the liver. That is the most prized and is typically eaten first.

That is where you will find the most nutrition if that is what you are after.

Raw honey is very good.

Make sure you get local raw honey. This helps your immune system and allergy tolerance since the honey is made from pollen in your area.

Kind of like a vaccine.

When I first started, I would add some sea salt or Bragg's Organic Sprinkle.

This really helps with the taste until you begin to crave it.

if this guy ate steak tartare and sashimi for lunch every day, they wouldn't have done a thing.

The nutritionist said that those dishes are OK, because they are prepared by "professionals"

I live in the Champlain Valley, in Vermont. It's pretty nice. Lots of interest in local food, grass-fed livestock, green and wild space, and decent hunting opportunities. PaleoPhil lives here too.

This area is really great if you want to get away from the cities.

I hiked through New Hampshire for a couple months a few years back, and it was absolutely beautiful. The entire state is like one big forest.

Lots of hunting opportunities.

That's pretty scary.

I have heard, though, women express the opinion that they wished they had the option to decide whether to keep their child after they got a look at it.

One woman I was talking to said that if her child came out deformed or mentally handicapped in some way, she would rather cut her losses right then and try again, rather than to be burdened for decades.

Interestingly, that is how hunter-gatherers operate. If a baby is deformed, it is killed. It will be too much of a burden on the group. Other animals do this too.

Natural? Probably.

Uncivilized? Most Certainly.

Exercise / Bodybuilding / Re: Exercise v. Diet
« on: February 29, 2012, 02:06:31 am »
It';s really individual. Whether I eat the "rubbish" or the "healthy" food (according to your labeling) doesn't make that much of a difference for me, as exercise vs. no exercise does.

Is it possible that although it doesn't feel like much of a difference, those unnatural cooked foods could be slowly causing damage on the inside that may not become apparent until later in life?

Exercise / Bodybuilding / Re: Exercise v. Diet

I fully agree. although i don't like using the word bodybuilder as synonomous with steroid abusing, protein powder drink sipping lunatic. most of them are off course but not all. there are a good bunch who live healthy dont do drugs and are just interested in building their body in a healthy natural way.

Good point, maybe I shouldn't have used bodybuilders as an example, because I wasn't even thinking about the steroid abusers.

Because even if we take "health-conscious fitness fanatics" as a group, most of them are eating rubbish like cooked chicken breasts, rice, milk, legumes, cooked vegetables.

I would still say that the fat raw paleo person is healthier - they aren't bombarding their body with as much bad stuff.

Exercise / Bodybuilding / Re: Exercise v. Diet
« on: February 28, 2012, 09:37:08 am »
The original question is:

Which is more important for over all good health?

I think there is absolutely no question that it is diet.

100%

Even the example HIT_it_Raw gave of the person who sits on their ass and eats meat, fruit and honey and gets fat, I would still say is healthier than almost any "bodybuilder".

That fat paleo person will probably live longer and not be as likely to succumb to any weird diseases.

However, exercise is more important for building the shape of the body. That's what most people want, since we are kind of wired to think superficially and short-term.

That guy looks awesome.

He may be onto something with the train outdoors thing.

Arnold Schwarzenegger in his autobiography said that you should train outdoors whenever possible, and if you must train indoors, make sure the room is as well ventilated as possible.

His theory was that there is more oxygen outdoors, and so your body can go faster, stronger, further than otherwise.

It sounds logical to me.

General Discussion / Re: Poll: Egg White/Yolk Preference
« on: February 27, 2012, 01:57:50 pm »
I like the yolk best, but I always eat both together.

I will also eat the shell sometimes.

If I want a snack, I'll just pop the egg in my mouth and start chewing. Sometimes spit out the pulverized shell, sometimes swallow.

I've heard all the time that milk is the only good dietary source of calcium. Baloney.
