Off Topic / forced to eat grains- help?
« on: February 19, 2010, 10:52:43 pm »
For the past half year or so, I managed to completely eliminate grains from my diet. However, I did this by secretly disposing or putting back the rice my family makes me eat during dinner (I'm in high school). I really wish I didn't have to this but my parents insists that rice is healthy and needed for 'balanced diet' and all that stuff. Anyways, I failed to convince them to let me choose what I eat. Problem is, now I've been caught throwing away rice. :(
This resulted in  my parents sitting at the table, even though they were done eating, until they saw me stuff rice into my mouth. I managed to spit some or maybe most of the rice out later but I probably swallowed some and I feel utterly frustrated right now. I don't know if I can manage the spitting trick without getting caught, especially since they are on alert. Any help for discretely disposing rice? Or convincing parents?

General Discussion / Re: Why does Beef taste so much better than Lamb?
« on: February 19, 2010, 10:27:26 pm »
I prefer lamb over beef but its possible the grocery store beef I get is grainfed. I still like raw fish and scallops the most though- I mostly eat cooked paleo (no choice) so its harder for me to get accustomed to the taste of raw land meats.

There's three types of tripe. Smooth, honeycomb, leaf. Pics: http://www.recipes4us.co.uk/Types%20of%20Offal.htm It should washed really thoroughly. Normally its boiled for a few hours to help clean it  but maybe you can use some kind of brush to rub the dirty stuff out than soak it for a while.

General Discussion / leaving supermarket meat out of fridge
« on: December 05, 2009, 06:20:25 pm »
I bought some plastic sealed raw meat and I was wondering what will happen if I leave it sealed at room temperature for 24 hrs or so? I'm still rather scared about bacteria. (well, I've already left the meat out for 2 hours) Or would it be better to open the package and let air touch the meat? I'm not trying to make high meat. Its just that my refrigerator is broken.

Hot Topics / eating raw veg and cooked meat together

I basically eat salad and cooked meat for lunch; that's the best I can do since the school cafeteria is limited. I heard mixing cooked and raw is harmful so should I eat the meat by itself? The meat that's served is low quality- mostly chicken, processed meats, sometimes pork/beef or no meat at all -_-BTW, I often feel  full, sometimes uncomfortably full after eating such meals...indigestion?

Health / Re: quickly getting rid of flu

Thanks for the replies- very helpful. I threw the medicines away and ate ~ 60% raw 40% cooked food. Flu is 99% gone!  :D  I'll try high meat for prevention perhaps, and because it sounds sort of tasty.

Health / quickly getting rid of flu
« on: November 06, 2009, 09:13:09 am »
I'm not really on raw diet due to being a minor. But, I got influenza A (probably sparked by  stress, lack of sleep and diet). My parents made me go to the doctor and I've been prescribed tamiflu, antifever medicine, and medicine to stop running nose. I've only been eating blueberries, drinking lots of water, and taking some diluted white wine vinegar (not sure about effectiveness). So is there any effective way to get rid of flu, raw paleo style? I have access to sashimi and raw eggs- no raw fats. Is cheese ok as a fat source? I got some swiss cheese, not sure whether its raw, but I only intend to eat small amounts. Or should I just take the medicine?
