General Discussion / Whats everybody eating?
« on: November 15, 2015, 09:35:30 am »
Ok, maybe boring question, but I've been away and people change, and I'm looking for ideas! :D

What are you eating, when, and how many meals?

I've been eating a lot of egg yolk and fish lately. With colder weather approaching I might eat more protein in the morning as I get cold easily without it.

How much of your paycheck goes to living expenses??

I realize speaking of finances is taboo, and hope no one is offended, but I'm so frustrated!!! I'm trying to find a place to live in an unfamiliar area and it's gotten me so distressed the cost of rent. I believe it's mainly bc I am on my own, vs sharing responsibilities with someone.

i know this has been discussed but what is the truth on this monthly hemorrhaging?

i have to mindfully eat to get my period, especially if i'm happy and content which simply means that i'm physically/emotionally feeling balanced.  there's no way if food were scarce i'd be getting mine. i have food, i eat what i want, and my body fat might be such that my bmi is just hovering around 18-19 ('supposed' to be 18.5 at minimum).

if/when it gets low, i eat to bring it up IF my period is absent, but  i feel fine! i'm just afraid, so i eat more than i want to in order to get it back. i don't feel as well necessarily, but the fear is gone.

i'm tired of this cycle, the fear, and tired of having to be so mindful.

Off Topic / diet and muscle cramps
« on: May 13, 2013, 05:45:00 am »
so, i recently have been trying to increase my carbs to see if that would help me get my female cycle back on track... 1.5 weeks and it worked after 3 months without.  looking for nonsweet carb ideas, i ate steamed broccoli, raw jicama, sea greens powder and avocado.  i also ate a teaspoon of honey each day (something i used as a jump start, but not continuing this because i turn into an addict with raw honey!), but i found that if i ate more than that i would get charlie horses that were so darn uncomfortable until i could them to go away!.. .argh!!! i don't remember having this problem with sweets before, but a google search showed that diabetics have horrible muscle cramps. they can be associated with high or low blood sugar, so diabetics don't know which they are, but they know their blood sugar is off.

anyone else experience this? i've otherwise been relatively low carb and wonder if i now have sugar sensitivity issues?

Off Topic / dog food brain storming
« on: May 13, 2013, 05:36:54 am »
sometimes is tough for me to get dog food mix from the farm. they have only so much, then run out kind of quickly.

i have a ton of lamb 100% grass-fed fat and heart tends to be always available while other meat cuts and organs run out.  a woman at the farmers market told me i can just put everything in a food processor and pulse blend it to shred it up a bit.

so here's what i'm thinking, please add or tell me what to take away:
fat
heart (and whatever else is available)
sea greens blend (it's a powdered green supplement of sea stuff, no vegees)
clay
bone meal (my dog gets chicken thighs (w bone) when they go on sale, so i'm not too worried about the bone meal)
eggs?

i dehydrate liver in small bit size pieces as dog treats, so she gets liver too.

any thoughts??  i'm trying to feed her the best diet i can think of and find a way to keep it affordable too.

Off Topic / conscientious vs orthorexic
« on: May 12, 2013, 04:46:30 am »
i just read an article that defined several subtypes of orthorexia from those eat paleo, eat raw, eat low carb, eat low fat, and on and on.

now granted we all validate each other here, where do you draw the line??  for example, i believe i eat the way i do not out of fear or religion but because my body works teh way i want it to that way. the author of the article above would label me. wtf??

Off Topic / Beauty Recipes
« on: April 07, 2013, 09:33:40 am »
I thought it would  be fun to share some recipes or even decent products that people use for personal hygiene, beauty, etc.  I just read a book called 'no more dirty looks', and there were actually some good ideas in there.

make-up: for black coloring (eye liner, mascara, eye shadow) - mix activated charcoal with oil

lotion: after using just coconut oil all winter and my skin still being horribly dry and rough, i am now in the process of making tallow based lotion.  according to online sources, mixing 10 parts tallow with 1 part any room temp oil will keep it soft enough. essential oils optional.

« on: February 09, 2013, 10:01:42 am »
i finally found a source to try some new things. so far i've had pheasant and duck. both are great. the duck fat is now my favorite fat.  it's the softest fat i've ever had. i'm sure how i could now if the duck is really wild though. they have wild boar, but i was not so brave, maybe next time. any suggestions?

it's been a long time since using any coconut oil or butter, but i'm adding a little back to my diet because i need a fat i can digest and hoping this can be a temporary solution. i don't seem to be digesting animal fats well still.

omg this stuff....  does anyone use it?  there was once a thread on constipation and i have to say i think 1tsp = 1bm within 5-60min!... seriously!

so i gotta be careful not to used too much obviously, but also i am burping all day long... anyone know why?  i hardly ever burp.  no other food whether is  a carb, protein or fat does this, so i'm at a loss.
