Exercise / Bodybuilding / Re: Cold water Therapy

Just fill up a clean garbage can with ice and water and jump in after an intense workout session. I have seen this done, but have not got up the nerve to do it myself yet. Those who do it swear by it. They say it really helps with recovery. Maybe I get some of the other guys at the CrossFit facility talked into this, but I don't think I have the nerve to do this on my own. Burrrrrr!

Exercise / Bodybuilding / Re: Is exercise useless???

Kurite,
I know exercising can seem time consuming, difficult, and even painful at first, but lets consider what our bodies were designed for.  Just as our bodies are genetically adapted to a certain kind of diet(Paleo) over 2.5 million years, so are they are adapted to vigorous exercise. With the advent of agriculture and animal husbandry over the past 10000 years(a mere tick of the clock in terms of human evolution), we have become less physically active since food has become so easy to acquire. The consequences of depriving the body of vigorous exercise(not moderate) is the same as eating foods that it is not designed to process. Both will result in undesirable consequences.

Tim,
I see someone already mentioned CrossFit but you need to go to the .com site to find the full explanation, history, demos, and affiliates.  Although I would suggest finding a CrossFit facility and not trying to do it on your own. I have been going to a CrossFit facility for about 9 months now and am amazed by how much my overall conditioning and physique has improved. Especially since I have been training at conventional gyms since I was 17 and never was able to get to the point where I am now. Don't wait until your my age to find out that you have been selling yourself short by not participating in a program that produces obvious results.

Regards,
Steve

Welcoming Committee / oops posted in wrong place

Sorry, that's for another discussion. I do CF and MMA training. I started eating more raw recently and Paleo.  A lot of the people at the CF facility are on that diet although not raw. Raw Paleo makes sense to me except I'm not that keen on a LOT of raw meat like many here.

Welcoming Committee / Amount of animal protein daily

I see a lot of people here consuming a lot of protein several times a day.  I'm just wondering how realistic that would have been for Paleo man?  I really don't think they would have been able to obtain so much meat on such a regular basis.
