Journals / Re: Lex's Journal
« on: January 08, 2013, 10:25:41 pm »
Hi lex, u stated that ur skin feels smoother and some dark spots have lightened. Would u say ur skin is also oilier?
I dont know if u had this experience when u fasted but in the past, whenever i would start eating again following a fast my skin  always felt oilier, glowing, sort of like when I was much younger. I felt that the fast really was rejuvenating in a sense. But I also feel that my skin didnt stay that way because I didn't follow up with the right diet.

Go to whole foods or some other place that carries grassfed beef. They throw away lots of fat trimmings. Keep in mind they never add as much fat to their ground beef as they claim. They will sell u the fat trimmings for very little.

Hi Silindigo, thanks for sharing ur story.   Could u tell me what dr. Ron recommended with respect to the the amounts of food  and ratios of fat to protein to carbs?

« on: July 10, 2012, 03:12:01 am »
This raynauds phenomenon is due to vasospasm of the capillaries in the affected areas. I believe this is due to neuropathy in which the tiny nerve endings  are not able to quickly readjust to temperature changes and maintain normal temperature in ur hands. I believe that this is due to loss of myelin in the nerve endings which is made up of fat.
Cayenne and ginger may provide a temporary relief but I feel fat is the answer.   I myself have thisproblem and im increasing my beef and fatty fish intake. I feel this is a slow but lasting solution to the problem. People with MS are able to regenerate myelin so why shouldn't others with neuropathies.  Good luck my friend

I forgot to mention I eat avocados twice per week and occasional berries and greens.

I did forget to mention that once per week I eat "primal ground beef" which contains all sorts of organs. I am inclined twds low carb because of the hyperglycemia due to presumed insulin resistance. Also, there is some data showing that a ketogenic diet can be helpful for alzheimers and seizure disorders.  Some believe it may help other neurological disorders as well.

I'm open to supplements such as benfotiamine but I feel that if I add a supplement now and experience a change, it will be harder to see how much the diet really contributed.

Dorothy, thank u so much for ur moms story. It's people like u that give us hope thru example.
I have neuropathy mainly where ur mom had it (eyes, arms, legs).  But it's really all over. I don't quite meet the criteria for diabetes but most of us on this website would say I m diabetic. My fasting glucose avges at 105.      I'm very thin and it's always been hard to gain weight.

Ive been inconsistent at doing RPD for over a year now. But im determined to heal myself. And For the passed two weeks, daily  I've been eating 1.5 pounds 85% ground beef grassfed and two apples. For the passed two days I've been eating 75 grams of ground at trimmings.

It's getting easier but I often still question my diet: to eat or not to eat some carbs? To eat only one meal or a few small ones?

I'm just trying to stay all raw except for cooked fish once per week.  I'm assuming that if I minimize carbs to no  more than 40grams daily I shd be ok.

« on: May 23, 2012, 10:53:53 am »
I myself still mentally struggle with what foods to eat .  but at the end of the day, I feel that this is all an experiment for each one of us and knowing what works best for u is trial and error. I agree with some of the great teachers we have on this website and feel that keeping a simple diet for at least a few weeks is best and then introduce  other foods slowly.  I'm not specifically saying a mono diet is best to start out with.

I also believe raw onions and garlic may be a bit rough for some people. To me, it just doesnt seem very instinctive to have sought after these foods in their raw form.

Given a history of diabetes I wouldn't do apple nor any other juice.  IMO a high fat raw  diet wouold slowly help detoxify the liver by reversing the fatty liver nd clearing the biliary system simultaneously.

« on: May 21, 2012, 09:22:01 am »
Hi guys and gals,  I could've sworn I had read a post by someone who stated he had recovered fully from heart failure eating RPD.  I have a very close friend with severe longstanding heart disease. Young fellow  struggling as a stay at home dad.
Anyone heard of any testimonial?

With all due respect, in the case of lupus, If an acute liver or kidney failure is happening I believe that a radical change in diet alone may be fatal. Although steroids and any chemo may be harmful, in the short term, steroids can be life-saving even if it's a short course that's given. But yes, I will still do a raw paleo diet.

In an acute situation of lupus-associated kidney failure immunosuppressants steroids such as prednisone are the most effective treatment of choice. After the acute phase then immunosuppressants are used.

Personally, if I were in ur friends situation I would take the steroids and a raw paleo diet right away. Theoretically steroids could be tapered down as her lab tests and symptoms improve. I
believe going raw paleo alone would not work immediately which could be fatal in acute kidney failure due to lupus. However, I do believe this diet is probably the most conducive to healing.

I was wondering:
What were your symptoms?

How long before u saw an improvement?

Health / Re: Tendinitis
« on: November 17, 2011, 11:12:32 am »
De quervains is not autoimmune. Tendinitis is rarely autoimmune in origin. We shd be careful in offering these ideas as some people can believe it and take some inappropriate measures.
I think raw is the way to go. It's possible some greens or green juice may be helpful short-term.
Instead of a spica splint u may wanna try placing a counter force brace (usually used for tennis elbow) about 2-3 inches above the most painful spot on the extensor pollicis longus. The pad on the inside of the brace shd lie on the tendon itself. Once the brace is in the right place u won't feel as much pain when u move ur wrist sideways.  Good luck

My friend,  the most important thing u shd do is to try and identify the bacteria. have the wound cultured with a swab culture and perhaps have the diseased meat/lymph node cultured. Any fever, hand still swollen? Hope u feel better

« on: August 22, 2011, 09:22:46 pm »
My friend,
i have had a difficult time adjusting to my raw diet as well. and i have had to make many adjustments because of lack of tolerance to certain foods including moderate amounts of beef.

i definitely felt the same abdominal pain with raw honey and bee pollen.

lately, what appears to work best for me is raw salmon, raw beef fat, and one raw egg. this appears to be pretty light on my stomach. i dont know if its the alkalinity/acidity factor contributing to this or not. in accord with what our Sabertooth states, i believe it's atleast partially due to the fact thaty its very low carb.

i believe some of us must sometimes simplify our diet and later add different foods one by one to see what we can and can not tolerate.
good luck

Health / Re: Horrible pain, agonizing muscle spasms...
« on: March 16, 2011, 10:55:21 am »
the back (gluteal) pain radiating down the leg sounds like a radiculopathy. a peripheral nerve is affected and perhaps inpinged upon in the lumbar spine.  another posibility is that there is a neuropathy related to digestive issues such as colitis. ofcourse this is all speculative given the limited amount of info.

oatmeal can seem very comforting just like many carbs. but imo i  would give up all grains or atleast those that may contain gluten and cross-reactive proteins (wheat, oatmeal, bran) as well as dairy. i would avoid fiber (fruits/veggies).

if there is a carb i might try in this case it would be  taro or cassava (aka yuca). these have been found to be soothing for people with colitis.

imo the safest diet right now would mostly consist of raw meat.  it can be very therapeutic for diarrhea.

i would still see a neurologist to take a look at the pain radiating down the leg. MRI and/or nerve conduction study may be ordered by him/her.

Health / Re: Extremely Dry Mouth When Waking Up In The Morning
« on: March 05, 2011, 01:08:35 am »
i haved this too sometimes. and i believe it correlates with dry skin in many cases. this phenomenon is most commonly seen in people over 50 y/o. so i believe it is degenerative in many cases. overall, carbs have helped me with this problem in the past.  right now, im on VLC and i have noticed the dryness is quite prominent. ZC/VLC is dehydrating for many folks.

i have thought that when this dryness is hapenning my body is detoxifying through diuresis.  so perhaps one must eliminate some particular food, ie  dairy, cooked foods, etc.

on the other hand, perhaps the dryness is happening because of a deficiency or lack of balance. if something is missing, then"cooler" foods such as veggies, fruits IMO are lacking.

Your mind-body complex may require additional foods that are not stimulating or hot (by Chinese and Ayurvedic standards).  These include greens and or fruits.  I would start off with low carb veggies ery
