'Rosemary's Baby' - Mia Farrow eats a plate of raw liver out of the fridge  -d.  Grossed me out at the time, but now I almost do the same myself (light searing of the outside, for appearances sake, you understand.)

I checked the link now.  It says the goats are now housed in Carmarthenshire.  I don't know where that is or whether they do business as stated now.

Thanks for your trying to help but Wales and Scotland are literally a country apart, England stands between them, and a 900 mile round trip for a pinta is, to say the least, out of the question.  I have considered goat milk but am put off by the pong.  Maybe I can smuggle some over the border when I go south at Easter. :D

................ and references to particular scottish breeds in the highlands(which are always grassfed). Now, maybe the animals are fed grains in the winter or whatever, but it's still an improvement.

I live in Scotland and can confirm that the vast majority of cattle are not grain fed in winter, they eat hay and silage gathered in the summer, sugar beets and turnips harvested in the autumn.

When I first moved here I asked my village butcher if his beef was local and grass fed and he took me to the shop window, pointed to a far green hill with grazing cows and said 'those are the cattle I will have in the shop next month'.  I was reassured.

General Discussion / Re: Scooping out bone marrow...

You need to get yourself something like this:

As you can see, marrow has been popular for a very long time and considered so important that you have a special spoon for it.

What I meant was that I would consider a pasteurized walnut to be less "safe," chemically, than a pasteurized almond because walnuts are much higher in polyunsaturated fat, which becomes very unstable when heated or oxidized... It was an ID the lesser of 2 evils.

My personal opinion is that organic RAW nuts in small, varied amounts are just fine, and are a good source for some nutrients that don't appear abundantly in other foods.

It's very surprising to find how even the most benign foods have been altered (diminished) in our food supply. Who in their right mind would deliberately destroy all the vitamin E in the US almond production?! It's like bad science fiction.

Gotcha, thanks.

Thanks for that.  As far as I know the walnuts I buy are not interfered with but are you saying you wouldn't eat them because of their poly content?  I thought walnuts were supergood as far as nutrients go.

How might this affect the nutrition of the almond, I eat them regularly as they are a good source of vit e and the ones I get are imported from the USA.

I'd love to have raw milk but it is illegal in Scotland so is just unobtainable.
