Well I rarely watch TV, and of course I turn off all the lights before bed(ahh you mean like for many hours before bed? sit around for hours in the dark doing nothing?). I even wear a blindfold. I still get very restless unless I take melatonin or all the area's power goes out ;)

what do raw testicles taste like? I had a raw brain before and it tastes like soft tofu mostly

Lol did you see the vid I posted on another thread? A bird in a bird in a bird in a pig.
where? I can't find it

I wish I had some fresh raw pasture raised bacon or pork belly right now.  It can be a pretty economical food to live off of, and healthy for you too.
:o
healthy? cheap? !!!

btw, even though there are a number of variations on how to dry age meat at home http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=dry+age+meat&aq=f

you can basically just put the meat on a plate or shallow pan/w.e and leave it open in the fridge. I've been keeping mine in sealed jars which keeps all the moisture/blood in, but I've been taking months(making sure to air it out twice a week) to eat it all so the taste hasn't been great. I'm going to start leaving mine just aired out.

as far as I know the only way that raw meat can become inedible is to seal it air tight and not air it out for months? but then I've also heard that Aajonus says if you do that, the next time you air it out you just start off where you left off... so I dunno. But pretty much there doesn't seem to be a lot to worry about re your raw meat becoming inedible.

General Discussion / vegetarian vs carnivore - growth size
« on: March 12, 2011, 12:35:10 pm »
I noticed something interesting... there are lots of gnats?(I think they are but all my image searches for 'gnat' show up w/mosquito looking fuckers) where I live and any food that's left out they get into(they even get into my fridge and then die in there...). Well when I was fermenting my sweet potatoes they got in and laid their offspring(little white worms). Well they did it again in some fairly high meat I was trying to dry out on my counter and I noticed that the worms that grew on the meat were twice as big as those that grew in the sweet potato stuff.

It's interesting because of the whole vegetarian vs meat eater, growth size thing that people talk about with humans. Seems to be the same with these insects... interesting though that the largest land animals - elephants and giraffes are vegetarian. I guess it has to do with their digestive systems... meh, pointless topic? x_x

you can leave an open box of baking soda in the cooler and it'll absorb all the smell.

This is what I'd be eating if I never had any medical problems that got me on this raw diet x))

http://www.google.com/search?source=ig&hl=en&rlz=&=&q=site%3Amercola.com+fish&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=

there are a lot of articles on mercola.com saying how polluted fish have become, this seems to be a very controversial subject

So the dry meat will not rot or decompose (in a becoming inedible kind of way)?  What about keeping it away from mice and cockroaches?  My building has both varmints, though I have seen neither in my own apartment, on in neighboring apartments.

you'll want to keep them open in the fridge  & maybe oven then

Phil, what would be your recommendation on storing blood?

Why?  Do you think this would be good indefinitely?  I want to know what happens and what you learn.

because it seems like it would be the easiest/quickest form of quality nourishment to digest. Whenever I do juice fasts I always get increased strength & energy. Seems like if I did that with blood/milk it should be much healthier and would I even need anything else?? I don't know..

But the fat begins to stink after some days, doesn't it?

Löwenherz

probably it depends what kind you get... all the beef fat I get stays pretty solid at room temp and doesn't change in texture or smell or taste for weeks/months... but it's also a lot less pleasant to eat unless warmed to around 90/100F
I'm looking into getting some lamb fat which is supposed to be much softer at room temp. Maybe the lamb fat would start to smell after a couple days, we'll see...

I wish I could find a game meat supplier... seems very difficult since it's illegal to sell :/

139
That's where I keep mine, but it's never changed texture or taste like what you just described :o

paper bag... hmm I'll try that.

It seems unnecessary to cook fat in order to make this... if you needed something for a trip you could just bring dried meat and regular fat with you, that way nothing would have to be cooked. Right?

Please list your sources/how you are getting blood.  I'm hitting dead ends everywhere   :'(
I first went to some local farmer's markets and asked if I could get fresh, never frozen organ meats. One guy said no and another guy gave me the number of the grass-fed beef butcher he gets his stuff from. Then from the butcher I can get fresh almost anything. Only for the blood I had to go to the place that slaughters the animal to pick up the blood.

I wonder if it would be ideal to only drink blood and not even eat any meat or fat.... I'd really like to know more about this... I'm thinking about only drinking beef blood and goat milk.

Also, I agree about the bioenergy thing. I think it's very real. I crave meat/blood from a freshly hunted animal. Even fruits picked directly off the tree seem to have "something more to them".

yeah I had massive cravings for things like coconut butter, nuts, dried fruit, etc. when I first started but now(maybe 6 months in) I don't crave anything unless I'm walking down a supermarket isle and the smells hit me x_x

whenever I'm hungry but none of the meat I have seems appealing I just eat some raw fat and that does the trick ;)

I think it's a significant issue. I have lots of difficulty falling to sleep. When the power went out through our whole neighborhood at like 8pm I felt really relaxed and just fell asleep on the couch... when the electricity came back on I shifted back.

Cellphones too. There have even been senate hearings regarding cellphone radiation being cancer causing - you can look them up on youtube.

Primal Diet / Re: Raw Unheated Honey
« on: March 08, 2011, 08:38:34 am »
That trader joe's honey is pretty nice. It's not excessively sweet. And it's pretty cheap for quality honey at $6/lb.

Not sure if it's completely unheated though. You could probably call them and ask.

They tasted pretty nasty(both taste and texture). I doubt it would be any healthier to eat them fermented rather then baked. Probably even worse actually... from what I've read there can actually be benefits from cooking vegetation - the complete opposite of meat/fat which should never be heated.

146
Even if it "spoils" it's just semi-high meat... I've been eating meat that I've had in closed jars for months. I'm getting tired of the taste though so I'm going to be leaving the tops off so it drys and locks in the taste as well as prevents most of the bacteria growth. There are some videos on youtube showing this.

After reading Lex's meat drying techniques http://www.rawpaleodiet.com/recipes/, instead of making the whole box thing, I've just skewered my meat(or even laid the meat on top of skewers) over plates, wide jars, pots, pans, etc. This way the full outside drys but it's not as extreme dryness as jerky ^_^

147
Yeah, I've been wondering about this same thing... it seems you can either get free-range organic, or you can get free-range fertile... which would be the best?!!

General Discussion / Re: Raw eggs: whites and yolks.
« on: March 06, 2011, 04:48:07 am »
I don't really enjoy eating raw egg whites(cooked seem fine - though I wouldn't do that after learning about this raw diet). I'd like to be able to only eat the yolks but it seems like such a waste to throw away the whites... they usually comprise about 70% of the whole egg and quality eggs aren't cheap! - in my area they are around $4/5 per dozen.

149
I can get as much blood as I want from my local 100% grass-fed beef butcher/meat processor(slaughter house). If you can't find either of those then try asking the farmer.

I have a question about the mineral content of beef blood. I can't find anywhere that says the mineral concentrations that are contained in blood....
