Hi DietMe,

I don't know if you need a Michael Phelps diet, but yeah, I have some similar experience to you.  It can be done, and it's almost like being reborn, after several years of very ill health.  I'm talking from (my) experience.  Raw dietary meat is irreplaceable as the best health food (for me).

I made a thread about it on 'my' old raw community.  http://www.giveittomeraw.com/forum/topics/1407416:Topic:291430?id=1407416%3ATopic%3A291430&page=2&feed=yes&xn_auth=no  Some members are no longer members, so their replies disappeared, which can make it a confusing read.  I called it FGM/MGM there (female genital mutilation/male genital mutilation); because I think raw vegans are mostly opposed to it.

If someone foraged some bones (animal skulls), how would they go about using them nutritionally (raw)?  Would one soak them in Bragg's apple cider vinegar or lemon?

Here is a very nice piece about our friends the Egyptians. I don't see broth mentioned as something bad though I might have missed it  l)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/ancient/egyptians/health_01.shtml

I don't think they are fools over at WAPF. I don't agree with everything they say, but I do believe their approach to traditional eating habits is one of the best around.

I certainly don't mean to imply that an all raw paleo diet is a bad thing and won't achieve the results sought by it's followers. At the same time I don't think properly prepared soups and broths of vegetable, meat or bone should be demonized (yet). I'm not saying one should live only on soups and broths either(yet).

It's easy for people to read The Bear and go wow, check this guy out! Look what he's saying! How exciting! Well, think for a moment of living in the 1500s and hearing of Mr.Cornaro who again- lived to 102! Talk about that! What did he eat? A Calorie Restricted diet of mutton, soup, egg yolk and wine and he wrote a book about it! Which you can read for free!

http://soilandhealth.org/
http://soilandhealth.org/02/0201hyglibcat/020105cornaro.html

If you could back up your claim, with any kind of documentation other than Potts cats, I'd be very interested to read it. And I would read it with an open mind. I like to learn. And as I said, my learning has lead me to believe that some cooked food, is not a bad thing. Like I have learned that carbs are not evil. It's what we do to them. Your learning has brought you hear with your beliefs. And you know, you might be right about a lot of things... ehh...  uhm... -X

It's too bad we can't all get together in a pub somewhere and have a great argument over a cold Beer or Raw Egg!

Best wishes,
Avalon  ;)

I feel it would be nice to get together and do that too.

Hi William, It is interesting just how delicious dripping, melting fat tastes!!!! I can't say who's right about what, but man, when I do eat rare steak, the fat is tops! When I was eating raw beef, the fat was well, sticking to the roof of my mouth  -[ not the same at all. I can taste it just writing about it.

May raw foodists do heat their food, just not beyond 120 degrees and still consider themselves raw. What do y'all feel about this?

I think the enzymes are destroyed in Neolithic and plant based foods at 120 degrees.  I feel it's destroyed in RAFs at much lower temperatures, depending on which food we're talking about, fat at maybe 104, honey at maybe 96.  I intuit the difference is a good thing, that Paleo foods are more sensitive because they can give more nutrition.  My body can tend to be hypersensitive, and I'm best staying away from heated and dehydrated foods, and yes heated grilled fatty meat I have found tasty too, but it's not worth it for me.  Maybe it's tasty because it's 'addictive', which does not work well for me.

I don't watch star wars for the science or the physics.

When I want science and physics I go to http://www.thunderbolts.info and lately what is interesting is the Bedini Motor and the Keppe Motor, all tapping into the scalar energies... "free energy" or in practicals... greatly reduced energy consumption.  Plus the fact that scalar energies have been used in healing for quite some time.  Scalar enhanced mineral supplements like EMC or Quantum Mineral Drops work fast... like magic for some... it's just new science... and Filipino inventors are catching up.

I understand your POV.
I like Star Wars because of the cool special effects and the worlds created by Lucas.

I like gourmet, thank you for the link GoodSamaritan.  KFC can be tasty too,

my family loves it (if it's Sci >D Fi rather than food, or if it's greasy batter
covered gluten 'meat') -v.  I'm not into KFC, gave that up thirty

years ago.  If I want to surprise my family, what should I order?  I don't even

know KFC's url (except the PeTA one where one makes funny  -d signs).  So,

where should I get Star Wars, and which DVDs?

     ;D Happy X-Mas/Yule/Solstice/Kwaanza/Hanukah etc everyone! ;)

You guys may be seeing more of me around here.  I'm tired of that site that's mostly raw vegan.  I wanted to help whoever could be helped, and make some connections, and I don't care for anything else there.  Have a good night/day! (whatever it is where you are)

How many of you brush your teeth with butter and clay? I've tried it with butter and clay, butter and baking soda, and plain soap with and without clay and/or baking soda. Adding minerals does seem to whiten the enamel, especially after going a long period with only using soap.

:P I've tried butter and clay, and I like it.  It gets my teeth the cleanest and so sleekly smooth.  My teeth hadn't felt so smooth for a while before I started RAF.  Eating raw whole eggs generally can clean my teeth too sometimes.  It's the whites I think, but I wouldn't want to eat them alone -d.  I've tried baking soda, toothsoap, Bronner's, peroxide, plain water.  Plain water worked a lot better for me than SA(D) toothpaste.  I started that when I was a teenager.  I needed it too. ;D  Baking soda tastes like artificial salt or something, I dislike that too much.

What's the difference between coconut cream and coconut oil?

I am just beginning this way of eating and for the last 5 days for breakfast I have been having 6 raw eggs + 1 lime juiced + 1 tbsp of cold pressed sesame seed oil.  My muscles just have had no energy for kickboxing when I go to the gym.  I think I must be detoxing or something.  I don't have all my raw meat/dairy yet so I had some bread and butter an hour b4 the class so I thought I would be alright.  I've been feeling tired too.

Anyone else experience this when they first started?

Coconut cream you make fresh.  Coconut oil is the fermented enzyme-free end product.

Sesame oil is on the Primal Diet?  Did AV recommend it to you?  What kind of bread?  How often?  What kind of eggs?  What are the limes for? Have you done any green juices or unheated honey?

the main active ingredient in the LBB is cascara sagrada.  the more knowledgable herbalists will tell you this should not be taken alone, even though i have done so and suffered no ill effects.  but this is the gist of the LBB formula in that it has other herbs in it that assist the bowels and buffer the harshness of cascara sagrada alone.

I suspect you could be right.  We are very different.  I know very well when herbs are in a synergistic mix, their effects can be quite different.  Still, I doubt I would take LBB, as a nurse once gave me a dose of cascara sagrada, and it was horrible.

I think the heavy protein blasts I dropped in the other week probably are what is really causing me constipation now. So here is my game plan, gonna be doing the high fruit too clear my stomach out while getting minimal amounts of meat and fat. Then once I feel comfortable again I'll go for raw carnivore. I've decided it's a bad game plan to mix high carbs with high fat, it seems like I get the worst of my problems doing that. I think raw carnivore will work great for me if I can just keep my digestive system moving nicely. I may have to take a week off too adjust too it. Any way, I'm learning so much once again.

Another person also recommended blended salads too help with constipation and that stuff. Will that effect my transition into burning fat as energy if I have blended salads now and then?

When I was fruitarian, I could not pass anything.  I got so incredibly blocked up.  It was really sick.  I tried blended salad and it worked like a total charm.  I don't know how or if it will work for us on raw meat.

Primal Diet / Re: Primal Diet Story
« on: December 17, 2008, 04:48:11 am »
Aajonus' life story seems like a stretch, but that's because it most probably is true.

Hey, all of us here eat raw animal food, we all seem strange, weird and unbelievable to most people.

I've cured my own and other people's incurable diseases, and that seems strange for most people.

I like that one about the wolves and the bunny rabbit part.  Maybe it was real, maybe he was hallucinating, whatever it was, that is how he found out about eating raw animal food.

A major reason why I was able to relate to his book and consider changing from many year ethical vegan to RAF was his far out life story.  It sounded like lies, but so would mine probably if I told anyone.  What do you do when your life is too incredibly unbelievable? (I'm not talking becoming president, marrying a prince, being a POW of Viet Nam or winning the tens of million lottery).  There has to be balance in life.  For all the dull, normal and gleeful stories, there are real crazy weird true ones, so many different kinds.  I knew his diet was for me.  I was still terrified of parasites, but that was one con amongst a gazillion pros.

I tend to be highly sceptical of the whole parasite notion unless specific mention is made of white worms in stools or something like that.

That said, each to his own:- the usual anti-parasitic herbs cited are cayenne-pepper, garlic and wormwood tincture, and 1 or 2 other herbs whose names I forget. I used to douse my foods with such suff in the past. Don't bother with that now, unless I want something very spicy on occasion.

I had a headache once, and craved onion.  Ate some onion and the headache went away.  It may have been parasites.  I used to be so careful that my meat was fresh, untouched, etc.  I was so scared of parasites.  I presently laugh at how I was.  I'm really not careful at all now.  Raw meat will save me hahaha, really, I feel so much stronger.

Cooked Pemmican and lard-fried potato chips! Well, that's a great way to get heart-disease.

Is there a raw pemmican recipe?  I've never tried pemmican.  Is it better than jerky?  Jerky makes me sick.

If you had to choose, between eating a cooked paleo diet and a raw vegan diet, which would you choose? Please post your answer..

If I could choose, I'd choose raw vegan.  Cooked meat makes me sick.  But I can't choose.  Raw vegan no longer works for me, so...

So, interesting development I should share. When I woke up this morning I felt very anxious. I had some beef fat with a small cut of beef ribs. The anxiety remained, and I also felt once again very saturated with fat BUT no stiff neck. My skin felt very oily so did my hair, but my skin didn't feel closed. I waited a while until my fruit cravings took over, and then I binged. I noticed almost instantly that my blood felt different. Then I felt my skin essentially become closed and sticky, and then a break out I thought I was going to have really started to kick in. My blood sugar got even more thrown off, so I added in fat to normalize it. Then wallah, stiff neck began to come along with pain behind my ear. I also became very confused and started feeling kind of sick.

I think what's happening is the sugar/carbs cause the fat to oxidize and essentially get thicker. Does this sound reasonable? The other thing I can think of is I was eating under ripe bananas which are very starchy. Would starch play a roll? Any thing to back it up?

I can eat some under-ripe banana with raw fat and feel fine, but I never tried mixing the banana that way on the same day with other fruit.  I also don't eat one banana like that in less than several hours.  I don't know if they're supposed to be mixed with other fruit or not, I just haven't.

yes, it is so with south indians too regarding rice as like filipinos (goodsamaritan mentioned)

but when u are at the end of sickness and could barely live, you would like to try something or other just to become normal... it is a trade-off and  a better one at that as you are not confined-at-home as a vegetable..!

but now and then i feel the loss of such a good soothing starch (rice,wheat).... but i know what my body says! :)

Greetings to you Sarav,

I kind of know where you're coming from, in that I was vegan for years.  At the end I was so stiff, etc, so low energy, many problems.  I had to change if there was a chance I could be better.  My immediate family is vegan, so it didn't make them very happy when I told them of the change I was about to make.  Whole grain rice and cooked legumes were a staple of mine for years.

Blessings of good health, peace, love, understanding and happiness to you,

Low to moderate sugar Fruit
Cantaloupe, Rhubarb, Berries, Melons, Tomatoes, Apricots, Grapefruit, Guava, Lemons, Limes, Papayas, Peaches, Raspberries and vegetable-fruits (like avocado, bell peppers, cucumber, are all very low in sugar)

You can find a more detailed list here: http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/whattoeat/a/whatfruit.htm

Eat some easily digested fat with your fruit, such as coconut oil.  ...

    Raw rhubarb recipe
    The Rhubarb Compendium
it contains oxalic acid, a corrosive and nephrotoxic acid

I don't mean to be such a stickler Seeker, but I am one.  I clicked on your link, and indeed there, it is listed as fruit.  Have you prepared rhubarb or harvested it?  Rhubarb is said to be toxic to eat raw, I think oxalic acid and too much fiber.  Also, rhubarb looks red celery with chard leaves.  Botanically it is not a fruit.  It is usually served with strawberries and sugar added though, and some cinnamon.  By itself it is extremely sour tasting.  It probably is very good for someone suffering from acne.

Some folks say the finest quality rhubarb is grown in Michigan, Ontario, Canada, and other northern states in the United States. Fresh rhubarb is available from early winter through early summer. Winter rhubarb is commercially produced in forcing houses in Michigan and Ontario. 5

« on: December 13, 2008, 10:28:04 am »
I have not tried eating raw liver. I figured it would be pretty tough to digest and I'm assuming a problem I have is my liver has detox dysfunction. Does liver have lots of fat or more protein?

Most mammals' milk contains no iron to increase the lactoferrin and reduce the risk of E coli infection in the vulnerable newborn.  Not to worry: a well nourished baby needs no supplementary or extra iron until a year or so, and then real food will be fine. The lack of iron in breast milk does explain why lightly cooked and even raw liver (rich in iron) is a first food for babies in Africa.

She not only goes to the farm co-op and picks up the raw milk for Kate, but she gets all the ingredients for the homemade formula and she makes it for Kate when we are there. She also buys beet kvass for us and pastured chicken and duck and chicken livers for Kate.

Wean with animal foods instead
• Cooked egg yolk (with raw liver
)
– Cook longer in higher altitude
– Rich in cholesterol, choline, and fat

To me it looks live even a four month old human with immature digestive tract can digest raw liver.

Carnivorous / Zero Carb Approach / Re: Peeling lips

No, I didn't really think it was a RAF problem.  It would be interesting to see if it's something that improved over time.  But, having said that, I've been RAF for 7 years and my lips are still dry and chapped!  Funny you should mention Cocoa butter.  That is the one thing that seems to help ease and protect my lips.  I used a lip balm from a company here in the UK called Raw Gaia.  They sell all manner of raw toiletries.  The lip balm (and most of their skin moisturisers) is basically raw cocoa butter with a few oils.  I'd certainly recommend the cocoa butter!!  I find the coconut oil, although a great skin moisturiser, does not help protect my lips.

This is a very manly conversation we're having here btw gents!!   :)

I like a guy with nice lips.  A guy's got to learn somewhere.  I'm not a gent though, in case you didn't know.  Hard to tell when I haven't posted a pic of my human self.  I'll take a look at that Raw Gaia.

...

When I was focusing on high fruit, low fat raw vegan a lot of my "liver" problems went away. ... I'm hypoglycemic and my spleen is enlarged. The furthest test they did was an ultrasound. ... my liver would not have had the tools to properly repair it self with detoxing only fruit. Not to mention I was eating big salads every night, and I actually got food poisoning from one of the salads. ...

This is a major balancing game for me. I've been now raw omnivore for just about 2 weeks. Here is what I have noticed:

...
- Progression
- When I first started my digestive system fell out of whack and I was getting strange smelling stools.
- Gastritis when starting is better.
- Not currently breaking out.

Cons

- What I think are liver issues are coming back. I'll explain. When I consume heavy fats/proteins I begin to get aching feelings in my upper right quadrant area.
This was majority triggered the other week from raw eggs. The other day I also went absolutely crazy on raw honey. I ate a KG in a day. Now I'm on day 2 of my sugar break and my liver area is aching a lot. I'm also hearing lots of rumbling sounds coming from that area, and I'm getting those toxic blood waves again. When I say toxic blood waves, it's like literally there is some chemical in my blood that hits my head in waves and causes my vision to become blurry, my brain looses track of where my body is, I become very disoriented and feel like I'm floating at times. I was told by some people it's my liver unable to properly detox ammonia. Once again, all speculation.
- Less energy
- Digestion slower(once every two days)
- Muscle aches and pains
- Head aches
- Slight abdominal discomfort(Very normal)

So here is where I think I stand. So far I've been eating a 16 ounce steak every night for the last 6 days. I've come to the conclusion that I don't need that much protein. I also will admit I've been making dips for my steak. Some times I use a bit of raw soy sauce, or I mix up lemon and tahinni. I also have been grabbing sashimi every day, just to get meals in at lunch. I've also in the last two days cut out sugar.

Cutting out sugar in the last two days has caused the following:

- Decreased mental function
- More anxiety
- Depression
- Low energy
- Head aches
- More liver aches
- Higher sex drive(Yup bizarre...)

I think this is a good sign, and considering how insane I get when I go nuts on the fruits I should probably continue my fruit break. .... My plan is too stop consuming any of the polyunsaturated fats, drop my protein intake as much as possible, and up my saturated fat intake. I may choose to do some further liver flushes, and it that case I will be needing the olive oil. But I want to give no carbs about a two week chance. I am getting the feeling that high fruit, medium fat, low protein might be where I want to end up. At this point though, I'm eating meat indefinitely. My brain works so much better with it than with out it. However if my liver continues too have an issue with the proteins even once I lower them, I will change my game plan.

So where am I at? I'm very close to where I was before my last fast, BUT with a stronger brain. Meat has already proved to me that my cognitive side operates in a superior fashion with animal fats/proteins. I'm now a fully decided raw omnivore. My only problem now is finding which balance reduces stress ....

I think Tyler said that it's not a good idea to switch back and forth too quickly from low carb to no carb and back.  That it may take six weeks to adjust each way/time, hence it may not be worth it, if you wont do it long term.  He chooses to keep fruit in his diet.  Dameon, do you plan on going back to some carbs soon?  If not, what I just brought up, is not really a concern.  I too am thinking to go no carb. I ate a good portion of (raw) liver today, so obviously I have not been no carb recently.

Suet is a soft fat, which is nicer.  Can't you get raw butter where you are?  Any fat from grass raised animals is pretty good.  I eat (raw) chicken fat.  I buy thighs which naturally have fat in the meat and eat all the fat that comes with it.  Sometimes they only sell whole chickens or breasts though, so that can represent a problem.  You can ask the butcher for fat trim from grass raised steaks.  It's harder fat, but it should be good.

Another thing:  eating raw naturally raised calf's liver should be good for rebuilding your liver too.  Have you tried eating raw liver?

That's kind of what I was thinking. I haven't been able to get around to increasing my fat, since the store I go to ran out of suet. I need more sources of animal fats. Raw milk cheese is crazy expensive, and as far as I'm concerned raw milk cheese from now on will be used for treating my nausea, lol. That worked within an hour or so, and my nausea has not come back since. But where can I get animal fats from? I realized eating a lb of steak a day was WAY higher protein than fat.

Whatever your reason for thinking you have liver issues, I don't know.  The stones that came out from the flushes?  Anyway, we all know that drinking too much alcohol can cause liver problems.  Also a symptom of overconsumption of alcohol is a hangover.  AV recommends, that if one has to drink alcohol, to eat two raw eggs, some unpasteurised unsalted organic butter and some unsalted unpasteurised cheese first, and then the morning after to follow with two more raw eggs.  I have tried this, and although I drank a lot that night, I did not get drunk, and I did not get a hangover.  I felt fine.  He says the fats protect the liver.

For the longest time I've suspected I've had liver issues. So I got a question, say I do have liver detoxification problems ext ext. Is animal protein going to help me or make me worse? Would high fat be better? Any one have any documentation or experience with this issue?
