« on: October 17, 2015, 06:07:08 am »
I'm with CK, that's an it depends question. If I don't work out, I get on a 5-6 hr pattern, but with working out regularly I sleep 8-9 hours.

If I share with someone, my finances will be more comfortable. On my own in the smallest studio apartment, I'll have my own space but financially will be tight. I do think I can swing it tho, I have to work out a budget and see how tight it is.

I fear if I share with someone, I'll feel like I have to live entirely in my room. I wouldn't even feel comfortable eating at home, I'd have to go hide in my room. I just have come such a long way and really value the control over my environment, and comfort to come home and be my healthy self.

What would you do??… Prioritize a lower rent, or comfort and control over the home?

LOL, CK! but is true!

How much of your paycheck goes to living expenses??

I realize speaking of finances is taboo, and hope no one is offended, but I'm so frustrated!!! I'm trying to find a place to live in an unfamiliar area and it's gotten me so distressed the cost of rent. I believe it's mainly bc I am on my own, vs sharing responsibilities with someone.

I didn't this even existed but just saw today in a meat market that there is company that makes/sell 'Coconut Flakes' cereal, advertised as Paleo and gluten free.

So really Paleo means to people to substitute coconut and almond flour for all the things they are currently eating.

Well I would like to dine with ALL of you, maybe at GS's place :D

I have eaten raw jicama on several occasions in salads and solo without problems. I don't do this often bc I have not found an organic source, and it comes from Mexico which is the US largest export of DDT the last I read.

Straight fat for breakfast. I like it. Has anyone else tried this? I personally don't generally eat before about 10:30 am at the very earliest, and usually more like noon, but this sounds good.

I find this works very well for me. I feel great, as if it keeps me in ketosis from the overnite fast so that I'm not hungry again until late lunch-ish hour. I really like this bc I'm a morning person, so I can just get to work and keep going, but also bc I still won't eat in front of people, and this keeps me from needing to eat during much of the workday.  My job is analytical, rather than physically demanding though.

I will probably start doing egg yolks, thanks for all the suggestions! :)

Primal Diet / Re: aajonus disciple

There's a guy on the 'We Want To Live' website that is pictured going from very skinny to getting his healthy weight back.  He was close with Aajonous, hosts (or used to) raw pot lucks with Aajonous annually. I believe he had some aspirations of following in Aajonous' footsteps, but either way, he has worked with Aajonous and is very knowledgeable. Not sure if his contact info available on the website?

Eveheart, what works for you as a "only fat morning"?

I used to eat avocado in the morning, and then a protein meal when I got hungry next. This was working quite well for me initially, until I realized the fat from avocado was not really doing a whole lot for me, not like animal fat. I don't really eat avocado anymore, nor desire to even if I could find a decent supply. So I'm looking for replacement suggestions.

TD drinks raw milk?

What are people's vitamin D levels here?

I'd really like to get mine tested again now that I'm eating and healthy, but my vitamin D level used to be really low. I tried FCLO, and it made me horribly sicker than I already was. I'm afraid to ever try it again. Like Jessica said, could have been the histamines. I eat organs occasionally, and I eat whole fish when I can, so I'm hoping I've got a handle on vitamin D!

FWIW, my dog loved the remaining FCLO, won't touch regular CLO.

I recall one extract by Ray Peat in which he attacked grassfed meats because of their higher omega-3 content, and instead promoted grainfed meats.

Bc shifting the animal to a higher omega-6 content is not hypocritical re PUFA concern??  :o
Not doubting what you read TD, that just doesn't make sense.

I don't know many Americans with a 40-hr per week job, that actually 'only' work 40 hours. It's hard to find time for family, proper meals, exercise, and sleep, let alone vacation from it all. We go in early, we stay late, we bring work home, and then we work weekends if need be. It's too draining. The weekend, even if not worked, is not 'free' if spent in recovery from stress and lack of sleep from the work-week before.

There have been cut-backs and lay-offs despite significant work load increases. Less people to do more work, hmmmm. Most of us need the paycheck and are not in a position to quit a job despite the increasing for the same or sometimes even lesser pay.

There have been plenty of articles discussing the implementation of a 40-hr work-week and significant increases in consumerism.

Like many of my friends and family, I do like what I do for a living, but finding balance has been a struggle.

Health / Re: Bras are not paleo. Tips for modest bra less clothing.

I try to be braless as much as possible, but with work and social outings feel I need to wear something or it would be unprofessional here.

I'm not so big, so I can get away with not much support. Typically I wear a bralette or camisole underneath a work blouse or shirt and it works well enough for me.

i guess increased longevity could be claimed if anxiety and seizure risk are decreased? Possibly increased intelligence is a stretch on improved attention, IDK?

Forgot to  mention, brainwave training also used by professional and elite athletes.

Hair length is an individual characteristic based on one's hair growth cycle. Some can grow very long hair, and some simply cannot. In the final phase, the hair is shed, no matter the length achieved.

The history is that it started as NASA-funded project to prevent the astronauts from seizures. For this, it worked, but the technical gear was too cumbersome to make it available to rest of us at that time.

I worked for a doctor who used it on his daughter when nothing mainstream worked to improve her conditions. She went from a few seizures per month to a few per year. This doctor then went on to open his own practice with it. Most of his 'patients' had autism though, so it's hard to get their feedback. The parents said they notice the difference, enough that they brought their children back even though I highly doubt insurance was covering the cost of sessions.

We did have one male adult, late 40's, extremely successful businessman, former MD, come in for improved concentration. He was skeptical at first, but didn't want medication. After a few sessions he said he was amazed how well it worked for him.

I never got a chance to play with it myself.

I didn't have problems when ZC. I feel it was a necessary part of my healing.  It was not initially a conscious decision to eat according to a certain dogma, I just ate what my body would tolerate.  Then came the internet search that led me to AV, this forum, and all the rest :)

ZC is even more dangerous than I realized. If anything, I would have been even harsher about it in the past if I knew what I know now.

Elaborate please :)
