In the US now so I got some fresh cranberries to eat, thanks for the advice!

I am in the US now for a few days and had some healthy portions of wild salmon this AM for breakfast.  Still not ready for raw chicken or pork though.  Especially nit high meat yet ;-)

Will eat more pineapple as you suggested.

Venison steak last night and wild salmon for breakfast along with avocados!

RawZi, thanks for the advice.  I have been drinking and eating 5-6 fresh young coconuts everyday for a month along with 2-3 fertilized organic duck eggs and my skin feels baby soft.  My eyes are also getting better.  This week I got the best news I could get.  Not only has my pressure remained low but now the scar tissue in my eye seems to be relaxing so I may be able to avoid a membrane peeling surgery altogether and only require a cataracts operation sometime next year to get my vision back.  I have been very happy with the raw food diet but have found it easier to get red meat both fresh organic beef and sashimi tuna.  White meat such as fresh chicken does not appeal to me yet although I see that goodsamaritan found some good quality chicken meat the other day.  One day I will have to try it.  What other types of white meat do you eat?

Thanks for the tip.  It is difficult to source fresh cranberries in the Philippines but I can get dried ones.  Are they effective as well?

Luckily my prednisone has been dropped to 10mg and my WBC and blood sugar levels have returned to normal.  As long as the inflammation under my retina does not increase over the next week, I will be able to drop the prednisone completely by next week Thursday. I have continued my raw food diet even though I did sear the meat and fish for 5 seconds on either side when my WBC count was down but I am now back to mostly raw. Just hoping that my eye heals enough to avoid another serious surgery but it looks like I will probably need one to two more surgeries - PVR membrane peeling and a cataract operation - over the next four months in order to get most of my eye sight back in my left eye.  Hoping and praying for the best and also continuing my raw food diet to strengthen my body and help my eye heal faster.  I thank GoodSamaritan for all his advice.  I never would have tried the raw food diet without him!

6 fresh young coconuts (water and meat) throughout the day, 600 g raw beef and steamed sweet potato with olive oil (breakfast), 400 g sashimi tuna (lunch), two raw fertilized organic duck eggs, a raw tomato and a raw cucumber for dinner, juice from a whole calabash (upo)

I have to agree with GoodSamaritan, Kamote Tops are not only a great way to alkalize the body but also to provide some vitamins and nutrients not found in fat or meat.  I believe that a balance of raw organic vegetable juices along with a meat/fat diet (as recommended by AV) are a great way to get all the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients your body needs.

Unfortunately getting off prednisone must be done gradually over two weeks to avoid more serious complications.  My doctor has agreed to starting me on a gradual step down process to reduce and stop prednisone over the next 15 days so, by the end of December, I should have normal WBC and blood sugar levels.  I only have to monitor the fluid build up in my eye so that it does not return.  Right now, the prednisone is helping to control this.  Hopefully, a week was long enough to reverse the fluid build up. In the meantime, I need to be careful about what I eat until WBC count is normal.  I do believe a raw diet is great and not risky for those who are healthy but raised this for those with compromised immune systems.  since I do not plan on staying for on a cooked paleo diet for very long, I was looking for something I could view online rather than buying a cook book.

Health / Re: triglycerides and cholesterol

I am reposting comments from another post I made in the general discussion about VLDL levels.  Hope this helps you:

I started my raw diet a month ago and have witnessed the amazing benefits of this diet on the cholesterol levels in my body. After eating an average of 1 to 1.5 lbs of raw grass fed beef a day, 0.5 to 1 lbs of raw tuna and wild salmon, 2 to 3 fertilized raw duck eggs, 1 to 2 raw tomatoes, 1 raw cucumber, fruit in season, 5 to 6 fresh young coconuts along with the coconut water, raw pumpkin seeds for snacks, and a small portion of organic quinoa or brown rice a day (the only cooked portion of the food I eat), 4 - 5 glasses of raw vegetable juice, my cholesterol levels are excellent.

Before I started this diet, my VLDL levels were over 47, they dropped to 30 in two weeks and now are at an amazing 21 (normal range is 2 - 40)  HDL levels improved from 37 to 51 (normal level should be greater than 40) my triglceride level dropped from 238 to 106 (normal range 10 - 200) my overall chol/HDL ratio improved from 5.86 to 3.51 (normal ratio should be below 4.4).  My uric levels did initially increase but have now been brought back to normal levels as I cut back on nuts, ate a bit more fish in place of too much beef and drank more fluids including water with lime juice. Everything else (except for certain ratios affected by prednisone - see my other post) is within normal ranges.

36
My plan is to only eat raw vegetables and some fruit that can be peeled. Steam other vegetables and sear all meat and fish to avoid bacteria.  I am still not sure how to deal with eating raw eggs as this now seems to be effecting my stomach due to my week immune system.

37
I have seen some amazing results on a raw diet to help improve my health but recently I have had to take large doses of prednisone (60mg/day) which immediately saved me from a more serious eye operation by dramatically reducing fluid build up that caused a tractional retinal detachment.  Within two days on prednisone my surgery was postponed and I may only need a minor operation to remove a membrane as long as the fluid does not build up again.  I can thank the fast working prednisone for helping so quickly to reduce inflammation and my strong immune system that was also, unfortunately, increasing the fluid build up.  The problem now is with the side-effects of the prednisone.  My blood sugar levels have jumped to 146 so I have to cut back a bit on fruit and certain juices but the worrying side effect is the almost complete drop in my white blood cell count to less than 50% of minimal levels. This was deemed necessary in the beginning but now I have a compromised immune system and have been warned about raw food. I am considering to temporarily switch to a cooked paleo diet until my immune system is back up as I gradually get off prednisone over the next month.  Any advice?

Thanks for the advice, I made a few changes to my diet and the uric acid levels dropped below 7 and are within normal ranges.  I took the advice from several of you and it was helpful.  I increased my raw fish consumption and slightly reduced red meat from 750 grams a day to around 500 grams a day. I cut out nuts and ate pumpkin seeds as a snack between meals.  I also ate pineapple and more tomatoes and drank more carrot juice and increased my water intake with a bit of local lime juice.

Health / Re: RPD brings EXCESSIVE HEALING for Eye Surgery Recovery!!!
« on: November 16, 2010, 08:40:23 am »
You can search for vitrectomy online or read the links on the blog attached by goodsamaritan.  Basically after the eye is literally drained and laser surgery is performed to attach the retina, either silicone oil or long acting gas is used to fill the eye while it heals.  Silicone oil has several potential complications and requires another surgery to replace the oil, while gas usually only requires one surgery and dissolves completely over time.

Thanks for the advice, problem is that I stop in Japan - no fruits or meat are allowed in so I have to probably eat salad or cooked vegetables on the flight unless they have sushi on board.  I am off to Seattle, any good organic stores or restaurants there that people can recommend?

If I can't get raw protein very often, what is a good substitute while on a 24 hour trip?  What do others do?

Actually it wasn't necessarily excessive healing per se but the body responding to foreign cells introduced due to the detachment.  The scar tissue or membrane that forms happens more in younger patients with a strong immune system.  At some point, the membrane needs to be removed ao I can see properly since it now is pulling on the retina and macula which creates twisted vision like looking in a funny mirror.  The hope is that it stabilizes long enough not to need oil in place of gas during the vitrectomy.

Getting good quality raw milk is difficult when you live in a city and ate often on the road eating in airports and hotels.  It looks like increasing vegetable juices is the best answer to deal with the acid.  Anyone ele with suggestions?

Actually my uric spiked from 446 to 552 or from 7.5 to 9.2.  The normal medical range is 4-7 and over 8 is considered quite high and has resulted in gout symptoms over time in the past for me.
