Primal Diet / Re: Aajonus' real name and PhD?
« on: February 28, 2012, 11:55:13 am »
Yes, Aajonus Vonderplanitz is his real name, because he legally changed it to that.  I do know what he was named at birth although I think I should get his OK before posting it.  Someone may wish to malign him although I don't see what is wrong with having an ordinary name or an extraordinary one for that matter.  You are right about the Richard.  His family name is an ordinary one also.
His Ph.D. is in nutrition.

Pem Wall reached national level in Taekwando competition (Feb 2012), competing with men 15 years younger.
Pem has been on the Primal Diet (see WeWant2Live.com for data on author Aajonus Vonderplanitz) for several years.

Health / Re: What if raw Paleo doesn't work?
« on: January 30, 2012, 11:13:38 am »
You have a good way of expressing yourself and your plight.  Each of the points you mention - being awake when you are awake and asleep when you are asleep, working out, enjoying life... and so on... has a specific way of being addressed.  It starts though with a good general balance of what you are eating - a daily plan - such as Aajonus describes in the section called Recommendations in The Recipe for Living Without Disease.  It is only a few pages but it has done wonders for me personally for a decade and will continue to do so.

Display Your Culinary Creations / Re: Raw Paleo JUNK FOOD (=
« on: February 02, 2011, 05:44:39 am »
I had 'Paleo junk food' to beat them all in late summer of 2010 when we had a Primal Diet potluck.
A relatively new but very resourceful Primal Dieter brought two large livers of home grown pet goats that had been nurtured from birth.  This liver did not taste like what I always thought liver would taste like.  It came very close to chocolate in its melt-in-the-mouth consistency.  People raved and circled the table until this was quickly consumed.  One person even called the next day to see if we had any 'extra' which we gave him.

10
I was introduced to high meat by a friend who had an array of different meat and fish all neatly cut up in small portions in small mouth pint jars.  He used nose clips and had some pride in his 'collection'.
On the other hand the way I got started was if I had some fish or an organ in a jar in the fridge that I was too slow consuming, it started becoming high meat all on its own.  This is fine except I ended up with some larger than bite-sized chunks so had to keep airing it out twice a week until it got to the point where I could easily cut it by pressing it between my fork and the glass jar.  Now I have about 8 of these going.  Sometimes I let some of these just sit there in the fridge without airing them out but when I am ready to start on them, I just take them out 2-3 times a week for some 'fresh air' a few times before I start consuming them.
Thanks, Tyler, for your full description - it is very good to see this.

Primal Diet / Re: Is high meat more effective than probiotic supplements?
« on: January 11, 2011, 04:20:59 am »
Personally I find high meat very effective in two ways.  First I feel good after eating it and am enthusiastic about the day I am living.  The more subtle benefit is restoring my regularity.  I have been constipated most of my life and didn't know any different until I ran across high meat.
I don't mention this much unless asked because people who want to find something wrong with the Primal Diet use this 'shocking factor' of high meat as a way to discredit the whole diet.

I just asked Aajonus whether the interview with Kevin Gianni that was scheduled for Dec. 15th actually took place.  He said yes it did, as scheduled.  Kevin wanted to do the interview in private first then supposedly edit it after which he would make it available to me.  I will check on this and let you know or post it on the http://www.wewant2live.com/site/811618/page/937343 page for a week or so.

Primal Diet / Re: Making raw cheese
« on: November 04, 2010, 11:44:18 pm »
My wife puts out 4 quarts of Claravale at a time for a few days, keeping them from getting too cold by placing warm water filled quart bottles in between (and wrapping the whole bunch in a towel when the air is too cool).  Then after a few days, she separates the sour cream and drains the whey and has cottage cheese.

Primal Diet / Re: What to drink if there's no raw milk?
« on: November 04, 2010, 11:36:23 pm »
I bring milk with me when it is feasible.
Also, I line up sources in the area of where I will be, using http://www.wewant2live.com/site/811618/page/2729837 Aajonus' list of producers and distributors.
We also prefer to travel by train when feasible because you can bring a lot of food with you and not get hassled or examined by x-ray.

Primal Diet / Re: High Meat technique
« on: November 04, 2010, 11:25:54 pm »
Amen to that, Maximillion!  Yes, definitely use glass.
As to what happens when you don't air out your high meat for a while - I have found it to be just like Aajonus says in the book.  You can start on it again and pick up right where you left off.  I have about 5 different jars in different stages.

Hello; Aajonus' books are a little cheaper if you get them on Amazon.  Or just buy one & read it then when you have some $ for the next one, get it.

Primal Diet / Re: Raw Unheated Honey
« on: September 21, 2010, 02:06:51 pm »
Hello!  I know Really Raw Honey actually is all that they say it is - as this has been checked out by Aajonus.  Personally I love the taste although only get this about once a year because I have so many wonderful varieties available where I live (in southern California) from Honey Pacifica.
The other brand is not included in Aajonus' list of verified producers... as can be obtained on his site.  If you want to verify this yourself, call the company.  The key question is "to what degree temperature is your honey heated?"  Another question is "how much is it smoked?".

Primal Diet / Re: Raw, unpasteurised apple cider vinegar
« on: August 26, 2010, 11:06:33 am »
I put Bragg's raw apple cider vinegar in my juice sometimes in relatively small amounts.  It certainly is not harmful but I don't do this often enough to really trace its value.  I am overall getting healthier though over the years.

Primal Diet / Re: Raw Unheated Honey
« on: August 26, 2010, 10:58:42 am »
Hello!  Really Raw Honey is on Aajonus' list of producers and distributors as a honey that he has checked out and is really raw.  There is lots of misrepresentation (call it lying?) by honey manufacturers.  Aajonus' whole list is available at http://www.wewant2live.com/site/811618/product/RPD-01
At the Hollywood (California) farmer's market, you can go to the Honey Pacifica display and ask for "Aajonus Grade" and they will give you really raw excellent honey.  We get a half gallon at a time.
I don't know where you live, but Aajonus' list covers a lot of resources in the USA that will ship.

Omnivorous Raw Paleo Diet / Re: Whats your view on Raw Honey
« on: August 04, 2010, 02:18:29 am »
My take on raw honey is that it really varies from one person to another and from one time to another.  For nearly a year we went through 1/2 gallon in a month approximately - for 2 of us.  This is what the local honey producers call "Aajonus grade"  honey - completely unheated, not smoked etc.
For the last 4 months or so, my wife has greatly diminished the amount of raw honey she uses in smoothies and milkshakes.  Her circumstance is that she is recovering from advanced spinal cancer by natural means using the Primal Diet books with some special emphasis such as making her own raw cottage cheese then having that with raw unheated flax oil (following the lead of Johanna Budwig, for those of you who have read up on cancer literature) and a small amount of kiwi fruit or organic pineapple or organic berries.  She seems more calm with less raw honey.  My observation from this is simply that if you pay attention to what your body is telling you, you can guide yourself within the guidelines of the Primal Diet.
Aajonus does clarify in his recipe book the vast difference between cooked honey - to be avoided - and raw honey.
Note: she also increased the size of her meat meals which could be contributing to the calmness.

Yes, Aajonus will be in beautiful Colorado as scheduled!  The zip code though is 82623.

I have found high raw meat to do exactly what Aajonus says it will in his We Want To Live book.  I was constipated almost all of my life before that.  That is where I get my probiotics.  We spoke with a probiotic supplement maker in Florida (Winston K...) who says he recommends Aajonus' approach first and his supplements for those who would prefer a supplement instead of the Primal Diet.  He may have been schmoozing me a bit but I believed him at the time.
