Can you explain trigger points?

http://triggerpointbook.com/triggerp.htm

There's a good explanation there. Sorry it's commercial, but there's not a great deal of reliable sources. I think treating trigger points is amazing, but not a lot of people get into it as it takes a certain sort of mind, and dedication. I was lucky in that I had RSI so was motivated to get past the learning curve.

What predator says is also true though. Also, if her gut became less swollen from wheat it might well reduce distortion of posture from that.

Display Your Culinary Creations / Fruit with avocado cream

Mashed up ripe avocado with banana and cherries. The avocado makes it more filling/easier not to eat too much fruit.

I might also try adding cocoa powder sometime for an indulgence.

I want to you realize that until you look outside the paleo paradigm you will never achive good health

Some people on here have good health with just meat so why not stop pontificating about what everyone should do?

I think this is to do with trigger points. No fucker believes me, but I think one day everyone will catch up  ;)

The pan method works well. It really brings it to life for me to have it a bit warm and brings out the flavour.

High will be fine eventually, but I don't know if I'm going to cook it a bit yet...and the idea of cooked high meat seems a bit nasty.

I'm getting closer to being raw yeah yeah yeah.

I might try that. Agree it's not a big deal to sear, but I'm trying to wean myself off the taste of cooked rare meat.

Yeh, but I don't always know what I'm going to eat the next day. Also, sometimes the weather's cold.

I've found it hard to gently heat meat without cooking it. I don't really like it cold. A plastic bag under the hot tap works for small pieces of fat or meat, but not really good for a big portion.

What are your favourite ways?

So acidic and highly sweet fruit and honey aggravate stress, which triggers knots in the jaw that aren't necessarily noticed, which triggers tooth pain--do I have that right?

Not necessarily stress. Anything that increases haptic tension - the overall level of tension in the muscles. But yes, sounds right. Knots are not made overnight, but they can be more or less active depending on different factors.

I don't have sore jaw muscles and there's no change in how my jaws feel when my teeth become sore or the soreness goes away.

It doesn't work exactly like that. You wouldn't necessarily notice sore jaw muscles or a change in how they feel etc. Good luck with it anyway though.

87
Sore teeth can be caused by trigger points ('knots') in some of the jaw muscles.

If this is the cause, then a food which changes the level of overall muscle tension, changes the body chemistry somehow etc could make these points a bit more active and bring on the soreness.

A lot of USA people order from Slanker's farm. Could you do that?

I've tried both. It didn't seem to make much difference, except the filler in the pill doesn't work well with raw meat. The filler in the one's I had wasn't the worst kind though.

This wouldn't be an issue with Dr Ron's.

Just 1/4 of a raw bitter melon fruit a day for some 3 days should give you the nutrition and restore your ability to process carbs.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will probably buy one today.

I vote for concentrated opiates. I can't see dairy as being good, from the effects it has on me.

I've noticed discolouration like this on the tongue before with no problems.

Salivary amylase cannot digest raw starches.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but one thing I've learned is just experiment experiment. It's too easy to get tied up in theory, and something else might come along and claim the opposite, so I'll just keep an open mind.

At the end of the day, if I do need to eat some cooked starch to keep going for now it's not the end of the world I suppose.

I'm just interested, which foods are these more concretely?

Well I cheated at the weekend and had a small amount of chips (fries) with kebab meat and some salad. Before anyone accuses me of being slack, I have been strict low carb for the last 4 months. I can survive on low carb at the moment, but don't feel on good form.

Anyway, after that it was like night and day, I've functioned all this week. I personally don't think it was opiates, I think it's brain fuel.

It's possible that I could adapt further to low carb and feel better, but 4 months is a fairly good trial. I feel like trying the carbs and seeing if it helps me function in my life for a while.

Thanks for those links. I had a read. Do you now think your starch experiment was worthwhile?

I don't crave starch personally exactly, it just makes me work much better at the moment.

I might buy some raw starchy veg and bananas today, it's one thing I haven't tried that much.

At the moment, I just want to make a diet work for me than what's perfectly best in theory. Better to eat an imperfect raw diet you can stick to than a perfect one that you can't.

I appreciate the thoughts, but the thing is for me a bit of fruit or honey doesn't really give me the stability and brainpower, it's the starches that really help.

If I eat fruit and honey, I tend to crave a load of it and then I get crashes and don't feel much better. Or a small amount doesn't work. I'm not sure about the idea of instinct right now, as I had to force myself to adapt to fat for energy at all...so how do you know when to push and when to go with what you crave in the moment?

I'm not saying starches/heavy plant based are good, I know some of the problems, but I found this piece decently argued. Worth questioning our own ideas sometimes.

OK, but do we ban discussion of things? Or just mention the bad points?

Unless he's promoting 8 1 1 in every thread, then talk about banning, but he actually said it was crap except for athletes.

I don't necessarily believe that, but I don't think he has crossed any line by talking about it I have to say.

8/1/1 will slowly destroy your brain. Athlete or not, it's an incredibly dangerous choice.  I am very serious when I say this, I have done the diet, and it did harm that took years to undo. If you argue with this post, I will warn you, then ban you. You are saying positive things about a very dangerous dietary choice, and that 's not acceptable here. I'm letting you know now, in cause you're not just a vegan troll.

I think that's a bit strong. The poster said it's crap apart from for top athletes. I probably agree it's no good for athletes either, but the poster is clearly not a troll. I don't agree with instincto for example, but I don't agree with creating a climate on the board where people can't talk about the merits of these things. I think you're letting your personal feelings come in too much.

Hi. Alan posted this in Lex's journal. I found it interesting, so thought I'd break it out here.

Basically a blog post, and a link to a more academic letter questioning whether humans are meant for low carb diets, and proposing that carbs, in particular starches could have formed a large part of our diet.

http://donmatesz.blogspot.com/2011/05/who-said-paleo-diet-was-high-in-fat_28.html#links

I'm very interested to hear your comments and critiques of these ideas. It sounds fairly plausible but the devil is in the details. I admit I'm not strong on all the details of the theory. If I read Cordain, he has me convinced, and this seems plausible.

Even after a while on low carb, I can't deny that I don't feel half as good..maybe that can continue to change.

What are you thoughts?

I have tried a different brand with thyroid in, allergy research. It was a multiglandular. It did noticeably make me feel more wired and it made me warmer when I was cold all the time. I'm not sure the effect could all be described as good though. I felt slightly crazed. As soon as I stopped taking it the effect went away, so it was like a med really.

Watch out for those conclusions! It's too easy to decide you have something.
