General Discussion / Re: Allergic to animal products
« on: February 03, 2011, 04:36:19 am »
Stop eating the fish and shellfish and it'll go away.

There is plenty of omega-3 fatty acids in grass fed meats, especially bison and lamb(mutton) tallow. See nutritional value of them over google. And you can get magnesium in the fish from edible clays. So no losses here. Just eat everything in moderation because food allergies can stem from eating the same thing all the time  - ie eating the same of frequently eating the fish for a year as you mentioned.

General Discussion / Re: Raw fish organs
« on: February 03, 2011, 04:34:16 am »
I'm not sure.. Eskimoes always feed the organs to dogs.

The head is the most celebrated part.. Organs least.

You'll probably increase risk of parasite infection a lot if you eat the organs.

Parasite infection? That's quite worrisome could you explain how or why the parasites would be in the organs? Also would freezing kill them?

Health / Vitamin E?
« on: February 02, 2011, 09:11:04 pm »
Anyone know any paleo and non nut/nut product sources of vitamin e? I’ve searched everywhere and checked nutritional data and not even tallow or liver supply needed vitamin e. I’m panicking because I think I have a vitamin e deficiency now.

« on: February 02, 2011, 06:03:45 pm »
Has anyone ever eaten cattle skin ie beef, bison, elk, deer, etc. And not chicken skin here   l)

Just wondering the nutritional value of said skin, if it is edible (lol wouldn't the cow marks be on it/hair). Has anyone ever eaten it?

Welcoming Committee / Sources of Vitamin A, C, E, and Folate

Since the carnivorous diet is all animal, then where do we obtain our Vitamin A, C, and E?

Carnivorous / Zero Carb Approach / Re: Bowel Movements
« on: February 02, 2011, 03:49:57 pm »
I don't want to offend anyone but there is already a thread on this issue...just use the "search" function from time to time.
My BM's are best on a carnivore diet. Fiber tends to constipate me.

Sorry it's just that when I type in bowel movement, bowell, bathroom, or poop I get nothing. Could you direct me to the thread through link?

General Discussion / Eating Intestine and Stomach

Any concerns about this? Like whether or not you should clean it out prior to consumption, checking for worms, food/digestive/fecal matter, any health concerns?

General Discussion / Sellers of raw uncoagulated blood/obtaining blood
« on: February 02, 2011, 03:30:57 pm »
I've heard of the benefits of consuming raw blood ie minerals, calcium, etc through members who've consumed it, but I don't have any sources!

Can anyone list the sellers of raw uncoagulated blood, or online sites, or whole organic grass fed/natural diet fed carcasses, etc. Show me your sources people  :)

General Discussion / Are humans carnivores, omnivores, or just adaptive?
« on: February 02, 2011, 02:35:23 pm »
This is something i've been questioning for a long time. I obviously know we aren't herbivores. But the question is do we eat both plants and meat, or just meat, or are we just super adaptive based on our needs. Like say when we eat a vegetable raw that is non-toxic - does our body violently react to it ie stomach cramps? I dunno. I know that monkeys are omnivorous but there have been new evolutionary findings to connect us to other animals/different primates etc so that's not a good source of comparison.

I want to hear everyone's opinion. I'm confused.

General Discussion / Re: Mineral supplements
« on: February 02, 2011, 02:32:44 pm »
I find the best mineral supplements to be edible clay. Humans instinctively ate clay when they were deficient in things through some sort of craving I heard. It's natural, filled with silica, calcium, magnesium, and is very detoxifying and digestible and is raw and natural. Google edible clay or green clays

Carnivorous / Zero Carb Approach / Bowel Movements
« on: February 02, 2011, 02:21:40 pm »
That's right! I've been considering switching from omnivorous raw paleo to carnivorous but i've been perplexed by a question due to my common sense making me think - if on a carnivorous diet no plant matter is eaten, that means no fiber, so how do you go to the bathroom  ???

Do you all still eliminate/have bowel movements, if so are they unpleasant or is it diarrhea? Do you have bad or bad smelling gas? Does anything essentially come out the other end easily or is there straining as fiber lessens the need apparently.

Just tell me if you all have had any problems.

You don't need a reason other than religion when your family is very religious. It would look like a complete betrayal for my family. I'm hoping by the time I have kids my parents won't care as much. But circumcision is a huge part of Judaism. I realise its gross and is a really stupid thing but a lot of what religion does is stupid. Don't get me wrong I believe in a higher power but I don't believe this higher power would want me to put my life to a halt to pray for 4 hours.

Well you need to let your family know of the evils and injustices of circumcisions. There is the brit shalom which doesnt require cutting as well as i've heard Jewish ancestors frowned upon circumcision. Show them a circumcision happening on a baby (there are videos) and show them how terrifying , painful, and barbaric it is. And tell them to lie down on the table and have some cut part of their genitals off. If they sort of excommunicate you then they were no family to begin with. Doing nothing and letting an evil continue is just as bad as supporting it or carrying it out because you're doing nothing to stop it.  You are lucky to see the truth, show others the truth of this barbaric ritual.'

And I confronted my parents and they confronted me aggressively with no remorse. I hate my parents for what they did to me and that is something a parent wouldnt want from their children. Save yourself the grief by leaving your children whole so they dont have to confront you with their feelings of grief or anger. It is sexism and if it were a girl the same thing wouldnt have been done. Female genital mutilation and male genital mutilation are the same. You would not mutilate your body for anyone and if a religion told me to cut my hand off for the sake of practicing it I would question the sanity of the practice. Jews against circumcision is a smart site.

You can read the facts at circumstitions, intact america, norm, nocirc, etc google them.

To a fellow paleoer what aint broke doesnt need to be fixed and for millions of years our ancestors havent had needed such a process. Its evolutionary impossible for one specific gender of a species to need a surgical removal of something they were born with. And they did just fine before this barbaric invention. Common sense + education = a powerful thing.

Yep, there should be no reason to submit an adult much than an infant to such a painful, traumatic, and permanently changing experience physically and mentally and with all the sensitivity loss. America and Isreal are the only circumcising countries. They need to get in line with the rest of the world.

There is hope as an organization called Foregen is raising money through supporter donations to use regenerative medicine to regenerate everything lose to circumcision.

Health / Re: Is hand washing with soap necessary?
« on: January 29, 2011, 10:24:02 pm »
True soap does kill the good bacteria layer of the skin. But baking soda is worrying as the skin is acidic and it stops bacteria by making the skin basic which is unnatural and i've had basic burn on my underarms and balls(lol) when trying to use it as a deodorizer...

But it is worrysome if lemon juice or vinegar would kill the beneficial bacteria there. But the question is if my hands were covered with fecal matter and I were to just wash them in water and eat something would I still get sick?

With the awareness of the wrongs of circumcision, genital mutilation is regarded as wrong through the works of organizations like Intact America, norm, etc , and a simple google search. Am I the only Raw intactivist? hope not!

Oh sure of course I wash my hands after say taking a dump lol. I'm still currently using soap atm but i'm questioning it. I always questions things when I think back to our prehistoric ancestors.

It does make sense to ask - how did our paleo ancestors live without soap?

Health / Is hand washing with soap necessary?
« on: January 29, 2011, 08:08:42 pm »
Well I was really concerned about this. For years soap has caused me dry skin and I read into bathing without soap to keep your body's natural oil production , ph, and bacteria in check and have gone without it for months with great results.

However, I continue to use soap to wash my hands out of the fear of getting sick. It does make me wonder, how did hunter gatherers live without soap yet lived such prosperous lives? Immune system? Healthy food? Who knows.

Though it is noteworthy that we don't wash our meats and vegetables in soap and they could carry potential pathogens yet they don't!  :)

So is soap necessary and has anyone gone without soap without catching say polio or the flu/swine flu or mrsa, etc? Though it is noteworthy that we don't wash our meats and vegetables in soap and they could carry potential pathogens yet they don't!  :)

Health / Vitamin D source - suet/tallow?
« on: January 19, 2011, 01:16:35 pm »
Well I happen to be a New Yorker and when it gets to be Winter apparently research says that there isn't enough sun to sustain our optimal level of vitamin d during this time of year so we have to get it from other sources.

Now I know vitamin d rich sources include seafood: sardines, salmon, halibut, mackarel, crabs, oysters, mussels, clams, shrimp, scallops

But what about suet/tallow? I've heard vitamin D is stored in fats and this is a good fat and I heard it is indeed rich in it. But i'd like numbers and cold hard facts. Can anyone confirm this? My instincts tell me yes but i'd like to be sure.
