I try not to worry about future events that may or may not happen. Civilization will always exist as long as there are humans. There are only declines not ends. The end comes when all of us are dead due to some freak cosmic accident.  :D

Primal Diet / Re: Ron Paul advocates for choice to drink raw milk

Honestly, I hate the public more than the individual politicians themselves because it is the public who votes in these assholes every year. A retarded public will yield retarded leaders which perpetuate the existence of a retarded public and so on...

I, for one, would vote for the Rhinoceros Party if it ever came to the United States.

Health / Re: Depression
« on: May 13, 2011, 09:47:04 pm »
That will cheer him up for sure.... ???

I've dealt with depression. For me the realisation that I was depressed was also the cure. This probably sounds crazy but let me try to explain.

I felt very bad for some time, lack of motivation, energy etc. Suddenly I realised I was depressed. I don’t believe in therapy or that sort of stuff I think all that does is change/reshape the outer layer but does not attack the core problem. Eventually people undergoing therapy change the act they perform towards the rest of the world because it is easier to display social accepted behaviour. When long enough exposed to a certain social structure people change their behaviour to match, it’s in our nature. Also I am a convinced atheist. I know there is no-one watching me, judging. It’s just this live here and now, make the most of it.

I realised that I was depressed because somehow my subconscious mind thought it would be beneficial. I think it’s our instinctual heritage to display depression to get empathy. However in our current insane society this primal mechanism doesn’t dork anymore. People are to occupied with there job etc. In primal small group societies a member displaying depression would get more attention because it was vital to the group that all members were performing maximal, all members had specific functions within the group and no one could be missed.  Ones I realised that it was just a survival mechanism to ask for help, and knew that I wasn’t gonna get that help, I wasn’t depressed anymore. I knew that this was the lowest point and it could only get better. Climb that mountain, reach the top don’t wait for others to carry you there it isn’t going to happening.

Thank you. Much more encouraging.  ;)

There is a supplement called astaxanthin (derived from algae/often found in fish) which acts a good internal sunscreen. I have experienced this effect for myself. It took longer for my skin to burn or peel, even at doses like 1mg. However, I probably don't go out as much as you do, so people who really get out in the sun should take like 4-8mg. Just a suggestion.

No way.

I order mostly from Slankers.  I've eaten everything from brain to tongue, bison to lamb.  It does not taste good to me at all.  The next thing your going to tell me is that my taste buds are damaged from my previous diet.  I started out believing the hype but I have finally come to realize that I do not like the taste of any of it any better than the very first bite I ever took so I doubt anything is going to change at this point.  F#cking depressing!

If this is such a big inconvenience, then quit. No one is telling you that you have to do anything.

Hi, 19 year old former pre-medical student here. Chemistry is a bitch isn't it?  ;D

Most of my meat is frozen. What I do is I take it from the freezer to the refrigerator about two days before I plan to eat it. Then I take it out and eat it; simple as that. :) Make sure to get all grass fed. It's more nutritious and it will likely never cause illness. I was in the same boat as you when I started. Now I don't even give a second thought about parasites/food-poisoning when I eat. Personally, I avoid omnivorous animals, since you are new and worried I would recommend you do this also.

Omnivorous Raw Paleo Diet / Re: 1 Fruit a day.
« on: May 06, 2011, 11:27:28 am »
I was interested if anyone out there just eats 1 fruit a day for carbs?

I do and I drink of lemon juice usually. I probably eat about 20-30g of carbs daily. Initially I felt awful since my body probably has never been in ketosis before as I have been eating a high carbohydrate diet throughout my life.

Fruits I eat: kiwi, lemon, papaya, cantaloupe, berries ... thats about it XD

Other carb source: Blue/Green algae

It sure is all in the details. Almost everyone who experiences food poisoning live through it. I would assume that the people who die have weak immune systems. Low vitamin D perhaps?

In my experience heart seems to be more difficult to digest than muscle meat. I enjoy it occasionally, but I much prefer kidneys. It has a higher vitamin content than heart, it is easier to digest, and it tastes good (to me at least :D).

What baffles me is that people love to bitch about politicians all the time saying they are untrustworthy (which they are), but give scientists a free pass thinking they are all people of integrity and can do no wrong so they are somehow immediately worthy of trust. Scientists should not be out to prove something in order to gain some fame/success, since it is a big no-no in science, but obviously this will not always happen.

I can't stand dumb smart people (who are smart in the institutional sense). The problem is that they think that they are smart enough to know what is best for everyone.

I always try to do at least some mild exercise everyday like walking. It really helps my circulation and my digestion seems to be much better doing it.

I have heard that backfat is relatively high(?).

I would think so along with any other subcutaneous fat.

I would also take a guess and say that blood probably has a good amount of vitamin D too.

Hmm.... Has anyone had any internal bleeding while taking calcium bentonite? I'm wondering if this is just coincidental. Calcium bentonite isn't abrasive. Right?  ???

I feel so thankful that my mother is very open-minded and not authoritarian even though she was born in a country with a bullshit culture that expects hive-minded conformity and academic slavery. I am eccentric in ways other than just diet, and I am happy that she has been supportive. I am thankful that she want me to do something that will make me happy and not what she wants me to be.

That view is incredible.  :o

The only landscapes you can see in my area are flat plains and shallow hills. :P

Sometimes I wish that someone would beat my head with a baseball bat until I can't critically think anymore. Probably the number one thing that negatively affects my health is news websites. I wish I can be ignorant of it all, yet I still keep coming back to them. Bad emotional health can lead to or accelerate many physical conditions.

Music, video games, and fantasy media are my shelter. It helps me get away from the real world temporarily so my sanity can remain intact.  :D

My wife is a Gordon Ramsay fan and showed me this. Gordon Ramsay eats a raw puffin heart about 4 minutes in.

And this. Maggot cheese!

I saw Andrew Zimmerman trying both of these things.
