What are your experiences with such a diet?

Extreme digestive trouble, weakness, dehydration etc... I stopped this experiment quickly after 2-3 days, of course.

you should try some fresh squeezed raw vegetable juice - it tastes good and it will make you feel good too.  you just have to know which vegetables to combine to get good taste.  if you juice cabbage by itself you won't be able to drink it :)

No thanks. I'm not interested in concentrated sugar from juiced fruits and concrentrated plant antinutrients from juiced vegetables. I have learned my lessons during my vegan delirium in the late '90s.

Smoothies or juices? It's all the same nonsense invented by some confused gurus.

I never understood that whole thing either. Another example is a potato. Supposedly they were poisonous while still wild and we bred it to be not poisonous. But what was the purpose?

To become independant from volatile food availability? After that we all became starch addicted. And today brainwashing is our daily business. See McDougall & all these other well educated experts. All physicians I know still recommend whole grains. Oh God!

The authors of the Bible knew this as Cain and Abel show us.

It must have been Devil's plan...

I have found nonorganic grassfed meats to be far better in terms of nutrients/taste than organic, grainfed meats.

Definitely!

Grains are always disastrous. For nature, for animals and for humans. Devil's plan is working...

One sixth of 'fresh', 'organic' or 'handmade' food is fake
One in six farm shops, delicatessens and restaurants that claim to offer “organic,” “fresh” or “handmade” food are cheating their customers, an investigation has found.

It's the same in Germany.

Recently officials found out that some million (!) organic eggs in many supermarkets have not been organic at all. One more reason to avoid supermarkets...

I've read on here the dangers and toxins caused by freezing meat so I never want to or at least forgo freezing meats temporarily. Would I fair well, putting my week's worth of meat in the fridge, exposed, under an ice pack to keep it cool, and preserving it that way for about a week to let the surface dry and harden progressively keep it go or make it a place for bad bacteria or spoilage and toxins?

BTW: I doubt that freezing meat causes dangers and harmful toxins.

Fresh is always best, but why do you think that freezing is dangerous?

I've heard of ketosis basically burning protein, now what if you're a low carber only getting carbs from veg and not fruits. Like say 20-40g carbs daily max. Will Ketosis still occur then?

I think ketosis will only occur if carb intake is very low (as you mentionend) AND your fat intake is high enough. Very high amounts of protein (lean meat) can inhibit ketosis.

Omnivorous Raw Paleo Diet / Re: Veggies over fruits?

I was reading up on some of the ideals behind the paleo diet and found a site that said we ate more vegetables than fruit back in the day? Is this true? I kind of get the sense that most members believe in eating more fruit than veggies?
Any thoughts?

Until today I still have never seen ANY wild vegetable in any country that looked palatable in its raw uncooked form.

Take the wild carrot for example, very small, very hard, like a piece of wood.

Why on earth started humans breeding vegetables? There must have been an extreme shortage of real food.

Sometimes I have the feeling that the whole 'wild vegetable thing' is just a myth or nonsense.

Wild fruits are ok. Wild meats are ok. Do we need anything else?

I have read about various cleanses using fats such as coconut oil, which you consume for several days.  I was wondering if other fats might be suitable, especially animal fats like raw lamb fat or beef rat.  Any ideas pro or con?  I have never done a cleanse so I am curious.

Believe me, a lamb fat mono diet feels VERY uncomfortable.. hehe.

I still can't understand how people can eat things like raw broccoli etc.

Some cooked vegetables taste good but they always make me tired and sluggish. I get bloatings from all kinds of cabbage. Feels like sh.t. No food. Hmm, so much vegetable food everywhere. It must be a result of animal food shortage and overpopulation, means poverty.

The more poverty the more cabbage.

I think the most important reason why so many vegans drink vegetable juices (from their beloved blenders) is demineralization from eating too much fruit.

Health / Re: Extremely Dry Mouth When Waking Up In The Morning
« on: March 05, 2011, 02:27:56 am »
For the past few weeks my oral cavity has been extremely dry when waking up in the morning.  The tongue, roof and throat are all bone dry.  I could be dehydrated, but I think it is unlikely as I consume quite a bit of water.  I don't measure the water but I drink at least the equivalent of 3 20oz. bottles, sometimes more.

I have been eating on a pattern of about 90% raw meat some days (including organs, had liver for the first time raw the other day) and other days I eat raw fruits and cheese or buttermilk for most of my meals, with maybe one meal of raw meat.  I eat 3 meals a day, usually 7am, noon and 6:30pm or thereabouts.  Some days I eat a large amount of fruit in the morning and then eat meat the rest of the day.  My foods are raw lamb, cheese, buttermilk, very small amount of nuts (walnuts, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds), butter, olive oil, coconut oil, bananas, apples, oranges, grapes, pears, melon.

Should I just drink more water?  I hate forcing myself to drink water when I am not thirsty.

Ryan

Drinking water usually doesn't help.

Are you eating high amounts of 'heavy' animal fats from beef and lamb? If I eat TOO MUCH of the relatively hard lamb fat I get the same dehydration symptoms like you. 'Too much' means more than my body can handle.

Yes, I find raw suet, cocoa butter and other treatments that are high in saturated fat to work best for my skin, both externally and internally. It's not surprising because the fat in the human subcutaneous layer is supposedly about 50% saturated fat.

I never tried cocoa butter. I have eaten only some raw whole (disgusting) cacoa beens. No food, IMO.

Is cocoa butter a fat to think about? Is it a "good" one like coconut?

No and pigs are not ruminants, so while beef tapeworm comes from ruminants, pork tapeworm does not.

Of course, you are right! I focused on ruminants due to the potentially hazardous worms in pork.

ok can i eat grain fed minced meat raw? like the higher fat ones you would find in the supermarket?
i've been eating slankers minced meat for a few weeks but i'm going to be relocating and i don't have much cash. What's the worse that could happen, a stomach ache? I can take pain and i trust my immune system to adapt and rid me of any undesirables

NEVER eat grain-fed supermarket-meat!

Everything could happen.

In my case I got severe inflammation of the GI tract, extreme aggressions, depression etc.

Anyone else have opinions on sodium/salt?

Salt, no matter what kind of salt, always feels very toxic in my body... And it comes out during my skin when I sweat. That makes me even more skeptical. My body tries to get rid of it as fast as possible.

Fruits have excess potassium and dehydrate regardless of type and season

From my own experience I strongly agree with your notion.

Even during my stays in tropical countries fully ripe tropical fruits dehydrated my skin more and more until it looked really terrible, a little bit like the skin from Douglas Graham. I was shocked, I couldn't believe it. Especially because the first weeks of fruitarian seem always let to glow your skin super healthy. The miserable process of skin destruction needs time.

I have some detailled photos of Douglas Graham on which you can see that he has a skin of a 80 - 90 years old man, at age 56 or 57! And I have collected other photos of long-term fruitarians, they all look like death with extremely unhealthy skin.

...If I don't eat beef, I'll have to replace all those wonderful fats from where? Duck eggs?
Just blabbering and thinking...

Hi GS,

that's a really good question! Beef, lamb other ruminants and what else? Are we really a species that is totally dependant on ruminants? due to fat requirement? Sugar is no solution in the long run as we all know here. Long term consumption of high fruit amounts results in extremely fast aging. No fun.

As you are living in this wonderful country Philippines, what do you think about fresh raw coconut cream?

In my view it is the ONLY fat I know that could replace aninal fats to some degree. I have tried it several times nearly exclusively but got always strong craving for animal fats after a while.

It's a complex topic. My understanding from KGH and Loren Cordain is that the high FBG that occurs from VLC in an otherwise healthy person is a natural, benign form of insulin resistance called "peripheral insulin resistance." The fact that Lex hasn't developed symptoms of diabetes or pathological insulin resistance seems to support this.

What do you think about the glycating effects of elevated BG levels?

Higher blood sugar --> More glycating --> Rapid aging

?

I can't have peace with fully cooked meat.  Not anymore.

It just feels so wrong lately when I eat cooked meat.

Same here!

Cooked food feels extremely dirty and damaged.

This sounds like a move on behalf of the dairy industry interests to stifle competition.

Ryan

I got very sick from raw milk when I followed the "Primal Diet".

Raw milk is frequently a cause of disease, as I found out later. Therefore a strict quality monitoring is essential.

It's better to eat raw meat... :)

My health seems awesome on so many aspects this is one of the very few problems I have.  I don't have acne, but I get supper sensitive skin.  Its almost like I can just give it a little scratch and skin will peel off and become dry and flakey.

I get massive skin problems if I eat dairy, raw and/or cooked. Especially raw butter makes my skin unhealthy, very dry and pasty.

Have you tried raw coconut cream? For me, it's a magic pill regarding skin...

Off Topic / Re: Blood sugar spikes, Zero Carb and high BG levels!
« on: February 23, 2011, 02:00:13 am »
Interesting. Did you confirm this via blood glucose testing? In my own testing, my BG spikes from fruit regardless of what else I eat (though it generally returns almost to baseline within 3 hours), and this was the case before, during and after VLC, but the symptoms that night and the next day are lessened if I eat lots of fat with the fruit. Interestingly, some 80-10-10ers say that their BG doesn't spike from fruit if keep their diet low-fat, which would fit your experience. I've seen others claim that fat reduces the BG spiking effects of fruit, so it's all rather confusing to me.

Hi PaleoPhil,

yes, I used a blood glucose meter. The effect is reliable, that means I can repeat it again and again. As long as my fat intake is high, fruit causes blood sugar spikes. When I follow a low fat diet, no spikes after fruit.

The question is: Are blood sugar spikes (in between 'normal' range) something to worry about? Or are they just somthing completely normal?

Zero Carbers like Lex Rooker report high fasting BG levels. This sounds not healthy, IMO. I mean, Zero Carbers always talk about diabolical carbs. And then they have constantly (!) much higher sugar levels in their BLOOD! This is a big contradiction, isn't it?
