I personally drive 20 miles each week to get 10-14 pounds of fresh GF beef

I would really be happy if I just had to drive 20 miles to get some quality GF beef... ;-)

And before that fruitarian for almost a year. The thing is, energy wise I did fantastic on RZC. If it wasn't for some sleep problems I ran into I would still be on it.
But I'm quite happy with how it all turned out.

Just sleep problems? No other issues? Maybe some carbs would have done the trick...

The fact that you had no other problems would strengthen my theory that I really had a severe food poisoning from very bad meats. I got extremely ill on RZC.

Anyway, you needed one year to get bad results. Therefore I mentionend that drinking raw milk for only one month is not long enough to get the answers.

BTW: Tomorrow I will buy some meat from www.herefords.nl...

So i really need strong enough convincing evidence for my mom and myself that it is safe to eat raw meat maybe.

Hi Badboy,

welcome to rawpaleo!

Be careful with conventional produced meat. From my experience it is not safe to eat raw. Try to get wild game meat, wild seafood and 100% grass-fed meats. These should be really safe...

Greetings to HongKong!

Omnivorous Raw Paleo Diet / Re: An Example Menu
« on: February 04, 2011, 03:47:50 am »
Yes. I have done that in the past for weeks at a time. I have found, again and again, that micromanaging my diet for things like too much protein/too little fat, calories etc. was a waste of time. I just vary my diet but follow some basic rules.

Really? Very interesting. I will try this soon...

Fresh meat is always the best option, no question.

What's about frozen meat? Does anybody here have problems with frozen animal food?

I personally never had an issue with frozen meats (beside the impairment of taste).

Did "the bear" just eat cooked beef all the time? I would get sick of it.

If I remember correctly he ate most of the beef raw but also mentioned several times that he rendered suet...

I have gone for long periods with very few carbs in the past(RVLC,  1 or 2 fruits a week max), and not eating all that much raw animal fat and did OK.

But nobody knows what "not eating all that much raw animal fat" means.

Do you think it is possible to eat (for example) for one weak only lean lobster and shrimps with only 1 or 2 non-tropical fruits in this week?

100 push-ups isn't much of a rigorous workout, but the dedication to do that many over time is pretty impressive I'd say.

Absolutely!
Somehow I always forget my planned fitness schedule after some days...

My today's workout:

100 pushups
50 phone calls
50 emails

Bentota (SW coast) 1979 -1982. In Kandy the second time in 1988, already instincto. Yes, meat is a problem there but once they found a wild boar leg for me and otherwise I ate raw fish every day when we returned to Bentota for holidays latter. The fish is excellent there. I also ate a lot of delicious eggs from a wild animal sometimes... The jackfruits are abundant and almost free, the durians are nearly wild and very different from each other.

My ex-wife is Sri Lankan.

WOW!
Sri Lanka in the seventies. I guess travelling through tropical countries was much more adventurous at that time. No internet, no mobile phones... Have you been in Hikkaduwa also? (not far away from Bentota) I have heard that Hikka was a real hippie paradise. hehe. My I ask you how old you are now? Last year I was hiking in the spectacular mountains near Ella and found hundreds of jakfruit trees with HUGE fruits. Even on the markets they sell only unripe Jakfruit und give the ripe ones in any amount to anybody for free. So far I never got any wild meat from land mammals, but the seafood is indeed excellent.

Today things are changing. Traffic jams near Kandy everyday, dole bananas on the markets and in some places extreme air pollution, highways are in construction. But paradise is still easy to find... I expect that the east coast will boom in the next years.

Not at all. I don't view rabbit-starvation as an issue unless I am on RZC. I know there are all these claims about a 100g of protein a day limits, but I don't believe in them given my own experience. I used to go in heavily for huge amounts of raw fats like raw marrow, but don't feel the need these days.

Sounds like you have found a balanced protein, fat and carb - intake.

Not very active, more like 2 or 3 posts a month. Used to be more active but rawpaleoforum was so much easier a forum-board  to use that people prefer it here.

As for that list, I need to do something much more comprehensive.

OH, you are writing a book!?

Very interesting, thanks!

I have heard that sheep never get cancer. Does anybody know if this is true?

Did you find most of these symptoms disappeared on a lower fruit diet....esp teeth. My gums are slightly receding, have slight enamel loss on some back molars, making them a bit sensitive if I overeat acid fruit which I tend to limit anyway.? Did your teeth actually improve?
Bronwen

Yes, a diet high in saturated animal fats shows strong healing effects on teeth, enamel, gums, hair, skin and joints in my body AS LONG AS my fruit intake remains very low.

Higher fruit intake inhibits healing processes and high fruit intake causes continuation of decay.

Plant fats seem to be completely useless regarding these issues.

Best wishes,

According to GCB, Nicole had been eating a lot of beef everyday for about 8 years. Other people told me that she ended by eating only beef and lettuce. I saw a photo of her eating pie…

I didn't know that she was eating so much beef. It reminds me of Lex_Rookers diet. By the way: Many zero carbers have been inspired by "the bear", a man living in Australia, eating only beef for several decades. It didn't protect him against cancer and heart disease. Therefore I never understood why he had so many followers on his dietary regime...

I never had problems with tropical fruits, either in Sri Lanka (I lived there a few years), ...

Wow! Where have you been living in Sri Lanka? I prefer the hills west of Kandy... I love this tropical country. Unfortunately, eating meat there is really a problem. Don't like fish every day...

General Discussion / Re: Cattle Skin (beef, bison, elk, deer, etc)
« on: February 03, 2011, 04:15:44 am »
Has anyone ever eaten cattle skin ie beef, bison, elk, deer, etc. And not chicken skin here   l)

Just wondering the nutritional value of said skin, if it is edible (lol wouldn't the cow marks be on it/hair). Has anyone ever eaten it?

Without cooking for hours skins are not edible, afaik. But never tried it. Doesn't sound appealing...

This is something i've been questioning for a long time. I obviously know we aren't herbivores. But the question is do we eat both plants and meat, or just meat, or are we just super adaptive based on our needs. Like say when we eat a vegetable raw that is non-toxic - does our body violently react to it ie stomach cramps? I dunno. I know that monkeys are omnivorous but there have been new evolutionary findings to connect us to other animals/different primates etc so that's not a good source of comparison.

I want to hear everyone's opinion. I'm confused.

Human beings can SURVIVE and REPRODUCE on everything. Every garbage! We are worse than rats. We are non-eradicable. I know happy reproducing and healthy looking people living on pizza and beer. How to die beyond age 40 seems to be irrelevant.

To THRIVE we need animal foods, better: raw animal foods!

Back to your question again:

We can DIGEST fruits, vegetables, fish and meat.
We LIKE the taste of fruits, vegetables, fish and meat.

For me, this alone is sufficient evidence to show that we are omnivorous.

Carnivorous / Zero Carb Approach / Re: Bowel Movements
« on: February 03, 2011, 04:00:53 am »
You simply do not need fiber you have muscles there ..

I can eat cooked paleo without fiber and have perfect poopie.

Do you have "Perfect Poopie" on raw zero carb as well?

Digestion on raw zero carb never worked well in my case. Still don't know why. Somehow it works much better if all the fat can stick around a LITTLE fibrous matter...

General Discussion / Re: Fat in Liver
« on: February 03, 2011, 03:56:21 am »
Is there enough fat in liver to just eat liver and not need additional fat?

Liver from healthy land mammals is usually very low in fat.

Extended "mono-diets" on liver is therefore impossible, imo.
However, one or two days should be no problem.

Sure. I used to eat tons of raw fat in the form of raw marrow/tongue, but do that much less these days, as I don't feel the need.

Eating considerably less fat means either you upped your fruit intake OR you reduced your body weight, right?

I wonder if I understand the compositon of your diet. I mean this 'rabbit starvation' thing is not such a big problem on raw diets as on cooked diets. Nevertheless, from my own experience I know that there is indeed a protein ceiling. I tried a low carb low fat high protein diet (which sounds like your current description) several times. Example: 2-3 Oranges (first meal) + 1-2 pounds of ultra lean venison. It never worked. Total energy intake was too low, digestion was in trouble (constipation).

You say you are eating "some fruits" and lean game meat... Hmm. One or two days are no problem, but doing this for weeks is impossible, IMO. I guess you FAT-LOAD every then and now, right? :-)

Well, there are 1,000s of studies proving the harmful effects of cooked foods. Studies done on the harmful effects of non-palaeo foods are fewer in number, but still present. GS will no doubt comment re the necessity of such a tab/forum!

Studies usually don't lead people to change their behavior. Look at smokers! And you can find always a suitable study for anything you desire. hehe.

Nevertheless, a handy compilation of research papers against cooking wouldn't be bad...

Tyler, haven't you written such a list some years ago in your yahoo-forum? BTW: Is this yahoo-paleo-forum still active?

Off Topic / Re: Synonyms of raw
« on: February 03, 2011, 03:16:07 am »
What synonyms of the word "raw" exist in other languages?

In my language the word "raw" is synonymous with "cruel". Not too god for advertising.

Maybe we are a little bit "cruel"? ;-)

'Uncooked' or 'natural' may sound more appealing..

In Germany we say 'Rohkost', which is a terrible word. I don't use this word anymore. 'Rohkost' always reminds me of starving, DEPRESSIVE, nut eating vegans...

100 in a day isn't hard but sticking to a routine wherein you do average 100 every day all month long isn't as easy for many. ;)

OK, I started today. ;-)

50 in the morning, 50 at noon and 50 in the evening.

Aeh, from 60-70 upwards it becomes a little, very tough.

Oh no, opioid crazed raw milk drinkers are taking over the forum.

I've been drinking it daily for a month now and have not had any problems with it.

A month is not much. Too short to talk about results.

How long have you been on your zero carb diet?

Please keep us informed...
