can you please tell me which company's vit D3 you use? i'm not in big about taking supplements, but certain time, it becomes necessary i guess. thanks.

To each their own I suppose. I know someone who drank wheat grass juice despite the fact that it usually made her vomit. When I asked her why she drank it if it made her sick and explained, like Lex did, that it's not Paleo (she was interested in Paleo nutrition), she agreed that it was a good question and stopped drinking it. Her health improved some after she eliminated the wheat grass juice and made some other minor dietary changes based on principles of biologically appropriate foods, and she no longer had to deal with wheat-grass induced vomiting.
;)i herd  some people at the beginning like that but i never deal with this problem. it is just for medicinal purpose (not to drink more than 5 to 6 oz aday) and for the beginners, for couple of tsps. for me, i've a chronic urinary track  infection and wheat grass always acts like a magic with that. i stop drinking this last entire months and get that problem again. when i buy those wheatgrass from outside they are just disgusting. you can't deny the high brix factor of good soil product. for me i see it works, for my mother also it works, that she can sleep fairly when she continue drinks that. i also think that when cows graze this grass, she gets her full satisfaction of eating grass. i'm not a cow, but i think that if i can handle this taste, than i should take advantage of grazing this too. basically i smash into a stone and chew the grass. i just do n't agree to grow them artificially in the water. i work very hard to get the best product.

I'll be eating my normal raw beef around 2pm and then attending a family gathering at 5pm where I'll eat a bit of turkey to be polite.

I'll pass on all of the breads, salads, vegetables, and sweets.

Lex
i do understand that once the delicious rice and meat (biriani) was my favorite indian dish and now, my new raw beef is so satisfying that i don't even feel hungry after seeing that food. so, i can also avoid all those cooked food like you lex. that's the beauty of paleo dieting i guess.

i agree that wheat grass taste awful, but that satisfactory factor, i feel extremely cool after i take them. and that's the lunch i had wheatgrass. i'll have half lb raw beef right before i leave. happy thanksgiving to all.

Primal Diet / Re: Just recieved raw butter...could it be spoiled?
« on: November 27, 2009, 12:12:14 am »
I gave up on butter when it gave me lumps on knee.  I wear an artificial leg.  I was using grass fed frozen raw butter from a farmer I researched and found in Wisconsin.  It was made at the height of his green grass growing season.  Since having experimented with frozen back fat, and subsequently noticing a sizable drop in energy over eating fresh back fat, I am inclined to think it may have been the frozen element in the butter that allowed something to coagulate into a lump, repeatedly, testing out the frozen butter.  I also since the 70's have developed similar lumps when trying to take oral mineral supplements.   Have you ever seen where they show video from a microscope of single blood cells getting bottlenecked running through a capillary.  MY theory is since I wasn't breast fed,  according to lit., I have more of a porous intestinal lining, allowing for larger particles to enter my system.    I would love to have your source for fresh butter, if grass fed.   I love the taste of it, especially eating it with meat.
van, at this point i mainly depend on raw butter (not grass fed) and i know that animal fat will be more superior than that. i am trying to save some money to get organs and other things from the web you recommended. also, rawzi, is a great help for me. thanks to all my friends.

Good health to you.  I do know of people eating forty-eight whole eggs every day along with the rest of their food.  It is not for everyone.  You might be surprised.  Many raw animal foods have vitamin D.  Have you or your son tested low for vitamin D?
yes, my son suffer significant of vit D deficiency. i put him long period of time in the sun (summer) and i give him cod liver oil from whole food and within two months, he gets enough vit D. thanks.

do you have raw animal fats? It would be good to eat fat with the organs or steaks to not get too much protein.

Try to keep foods separate example fruits and juice in the morning, meat for lunch and dinner.

excellent idea!!! wow!! i thought about that sometimes but couldn't get that courage.

to rawzi, i never new that before and i think that must be very good because you recommend. i definitely do the research about that more in the future.

THANK YOU TO ALL MY FRIENDS OF PROVIDING ME ALL THOSE VALUABLE INFO. PLEASE, HELP ME A LITTLE BIT MORE AND I'LL BE KEEP POSTING HIS NEW DIET SOON HERE. THANKS. :-*

I did not like wheat grass ever in my life.

But when my brother needed liver rebuilding, wheat grass juice worked for him for some time.

well, one thing is pretty true that anything grows on wealthy soil, that is completely different than anything you compare out there. it is just a miracle food for me. my entire household works i depend on wheat grass. i put the wheat grass into the water to give my toddler a healthy bath, i make for him the toothpaste out of the juice, i put that on my hair, skin. my body feels complete when i drink the pure juice and it is similar to when i eat raw beef. so, this is my best miracle green and i just can't deny it.

dear lex, i believe that you went through a lot and also these green juice didn't help you or many of us. i grow my wheat grass in thick nutritious soil, and i really feel the difference by drinking the juice than any other green things out there. but i found that raw animal foods are much more energetic than those greens we buy from supermarket. i always enjoy of reading your post. thanks lex.

Four of us rawsters were chatting tonight.  PaleoPhil said he uses egg yolks for Vitamin D.  Vitamin D is the vitamin that strengthens bones.  Inuit had strong bones, yet they did not expose their skin to the sun.  Vitamin D is in the kind of food we eat here.  There are other tricks to raising and maintaining vitamin D at good level too.  You will learn for your son and teach him.  It's tempting though to go back to a sunnier climate.
in order to accomplish the need of vit D in our bodies, we need to consume 20 egg yolks a day. i mainly depend on cod liver oil for that. thanks.

Vitamin D (the sunshine vitamin that darkens skin) deficiency and allergy to grains (celiac) go hand in hand.  I wonder if this could be related to a race evolving to have lighter skin.
my little boy is much more darker than me and he needs more sunlight to get enough vit D than me. this is a disadvantage to born in colder country with dark skin.

That is definitely raw, but nothing near raw paleo. Why would kids need anything different than adults? I figure, as soon as children are weaned, they should be eating what adults eat, since at that point their nutritional needs are about the same.
thanks for your valuable opinion and also to my all other friends "thanks" . usually i eat with him. i'll definitely eliminate them from his diet. but what i will replace in that place, organs? he does not like the animal protein that much. so i try that at night. i'm also afraid of too much protein intake. please, help me out little more. thanks.

Omnivorous Raw Paleo Diet / Re: fermenting fruit?
« on: November 26, 2009, 05:58:04 am »
fermenting fruits is a very bad idea to me, b/c it produces alcohol right away. i prefer to work with veggies and when fruits come, i love to eat them fresh. so i never experiment fermenting any fruits.

i couldn't finish the post, b/c my toddler woke up. lex, it is possible that leg cramps issue doesn't related with your almost perfect diet. this goes probably beyond the proper diet... i mean, your marital status, the pollution, stress from work....etc.i like the title of the post "Trouble in Paradise"...very appropriate. take care.

TO LEX, you're like a super eating guru for me and all my other friends here in this forum. i'm just wondering, have you ever try wheat grass in empty stomach? i grow two trays a week. even in winter, i take these trays outside some part of the day to give them real sunlight. it is very different that any other stores. and for god sake, it is so divine...

General Discussion / what for lunch for raw toddler?
« on: November 26, 2009, 04:19:58 am »
-[my raw toddler throws up today's lunch. i give him fresh celery juice with freshly grounded flex seeds (he loves this very much), than i give him the super combination of 1)half avocado, 2)one tsp raw soaked sunflower seeds,3)one tsp raw soaked sesame seed, 4)six California raw soaked almonds, 5)very small a pinch bee pollen... all together crush them in a stone and make a paste (this is the way i'm feeding him since he started solid food which is part of his vegan diet). he is so happy drinking the celery, but as soon as i give him that paste, he throws up every thing. he just doesn't like it.  than i give him only avocado paste, he eats that.

:(my questions are,1) what else i can give him for lunch?
2)the day i give him fish lunch and steak diner and yolks breakfast, is it too much protein he is taking for entire day?
                           3) he loves pomegranates, cheese, apple, water melon, grapes (i don't like to give these everyday b/c of high content  of suger and they are not local. can i give him only good amount of raw cheese only?

PLEASE, SUGGEST ME TO DRAW A DREAM RAW LUNCH FOR THIS LITTLE TODDLER. THANKS. : -\

important note: he drinks wheat grass juice, carrot juice and 3/4 egg yolks followed by 1 tbsp cod liver oil in the morning. for diner, he eats nice size of raw steak (.2 lb usually) (with pinch of seaweed, raw onion, honey sotimes) with plenty of raw butter or marrows. for lunch, twice a week i give him 2/3 raw clams with wild raw salmon and five days a week he follows the lunch above. he drinks i cup of raw goat milk acidophiles with a blended banana for snack.

dear van, thanks a lot of sharing this important info. i'm just guessing that when you order your meat online, can you ask them to cover the meat with paper, than put them into the plastic? please, let me know. when i go WF, they always do that for me (i never asked them). thanks again.

Thanks for your thoughts, raw.  I agree that it's wise to listen most attentively to our own bodies over the experiences and needs of other's bodies.  I will experiment, as I said.  I'm glad for you that you seemingly have no need for it.  It's probably a good sign that you're in a healthy state.
i've never been seriously ill in my life and people like me to come to this kind of restricted diet its very rare i guess. i just want to be more healthy in true way. probably it runs in my family to live clean life in general.  thanks michael.

General Discussion / Re: How much water do you drink?
« on: November 25, 2009, 06:38:27 am »
When I relied on coconut water as my sole drinking water source, it was all fresh, mostly coconuts I picked myself.  I never got sick from it.  Once they are opened, contamination can get in.  Opening them myself cuts out the middle man and who knows what else. right?  Also, the middle man (when my buddy got sick), I got the water from did not live near where coconuts grow.

raw- Are the Florida coconuts dipped?  If so, do you think the pesticides or formaldehyde could get into them if not careful?

Could Martins have chemicals to kill the bacteria? Has anyone information?  Like has anyone visited their manufacturing plant?

I have gotten packaged juices that were raw.  I think they had to be sold within three days.  They're illegal where I live.  They have to be fresh made or pasteurized somehow.  Good luck with all the irradiation and such they try to do to our fruit.  It's amazing they put radiation waste in food.
rawzi/ you amazed me with your knowledge... wow!! i always enjoy to read your replies. rawzi, honestly, i don't know what they do with their coconuts, but certainly they are way poor quality than the coconut i consumed in my grandma's place. only thing is they are the whole green coconuts. so the out look don't scary like any coconuts i know out there. and i will not buy those coconuts from any other countries even they say it's organic. once my uncle asked me that if he can shipped young coconuts directly to me. but shipping costs is way more expensive than the coconuts and in my belief i should consume locally what's available for me. it's just waste of money to buy them.

your body would be the main monitor if you need more salt . this is not a mistake. i have an addiction with salt (still now). but when i started eating raw meat, i didn't crave a bit salt right away and i just so surprise by that. it's like within a day i felt that. than i got more curious to find out what happened to me and i saw that if i eat any starchy food, my body ultimately craves salts. so, i'm talking from my own experience that i don't need any table salts (not even the best one).
