maybe different varieties and nutritional needs?

the big stuff that grows in the desert is actually kind of tasty, especially if you are parched, i think there are many varieties of the plant, perhaps some are more palatable than others, and it might depend on if they are growing in a natural environment or not .  i dont think its a staple food but it definitely has its medicinal uses and benefits.

have you ever been to the desert derek?  everything has spines and thorns, especially the juicer and more delicious plants and fruits...

yat kah, modern tuvan folk music...so brilliant.  give it a listen, i have been almost exclusively listening to traditional tuvan throat singing lately, everything else sounds like satanic garbage

ha, this song popped into my head yesterday, i havent listened to this band since jr. high 20 years ago...sadly i was a "vegetarian" in those days.

lyrics:
she's not eatin' bacon, not
eatin' sausage,
and she won't eat eggs,
not eatin' chicken
not eatin' turkey, she
won't have a steak,
but i just can't help feelin'
sorry
for this poor little lettuce head
you know, i can't stop cryin' cause i
know this broccoli's dead

vegetarian? i'm not a vegetarian,
vegetarian...she's a

poor little cow, little sheep,
little fish
how can I sleep? when carrots
are bleedin'
plants are screamin' and tomatoes cry,
you say "it's not so bad, they're only
vegetables", that's what you said
maybe i'm a murderer, but i'm hungry
and they're better off dead.

save a plant, eat a cow,
i want beef, i want it now!
i'm gonna eat it cause it's red!
i'm gonna eat it cause it's dead!
maybe i should eat it raw let the
blood run down my jaw
i'd eat people if it was legal,
i'd eat people if it was legal!

ive never tried any of there honey paleophil, it was just a coincidence that i came across that page so i thought i would post it.

i dont eat honey all that often and, to be honest, i am not a fan of anything other than

http://shop.nativeseeds.org/collections/frontpage/products/shf500

http://shop.nativeseeds.org/collections/vendors?q=Sahuaro%20Honey%20Farms

which is produced on my friends farm down in cascabel arizona.  the farm is very remote and full of ancient mesquite and suhuaro cactus, producing the most delicate, deliciously sweet and creamy honey ever.  i havent had any since i lived down there but i can tell you it is of the best quality and nothing since has quite compared.  which is probably why i dont eat more honey.  i cant afford it, but if i could i would buy a few jars to stock up on.

ask around to see if any farmers do on farm slaughtering and/or that will teach you butchering.  there are a few like that here, although some of them will either charge money or ask for work in exchange for their time and knowledge.

some of the farmers around here will slaughter for you and teach you butchering, ask around and see if anyone will do that for you?

i cant do grains either, the make me seriously bloated, oats in particular make my face bloat and make me feel horrible.  try plantains and bananas if those seem appealing to you.  try them with fish?  anyway keep trying.  just dont resort to letting yourself starve and then bingeing on horrible foods.

wasnt your issue that you cant keep on weight and that you swing between extremes?  moderation, dont go overboard on starch, it should help you feel satiated and reduce the urge to binge.  sure, eat bananas if thy are satiating and dont cause blood sugar issues, just dont eat 30 bananas a day and then fast, that is too extreme.  make sure you not eating too much or too little to keep your blood sugar balanced. i would suggest that your options are whole meals, so that you can eat as little of as much of eat macronutrient as you see fit.  i would really suggest doing some gentle yoga instead of more forceful exercising, doing some breath work and meditation, and working on engaging your parasympathetic nervous system.

if you are having trouble keeping on weight you should cut down on the exercise and weights that you do and instead focus on exercises that lower your adrenal response.  I would suggest gentle yoga, breath work, dancing and light areobics(mostly to get the lympth and ciruclator systems going, always under 45 minutes of these activities) and walks that dont cause exhaustion, keep them around an hour, if going longer take a nice break where you lie down in between, if only for 5-10 minutes.

i would suggest three medium sized meals a day, so that you arent constantly eating, but also so that you arent going too long without food, maybe even four small to medium sized meals.  no large meals and no fasting except for around bedtime, try not to eat right up near bed unless you are just totally starving.  try drinking water or raw milk first or doing breath exercises and meditation and if you are still actually HUNGRY not just tired and stressed, then eat...but most likely you will just need to sleep.

eat meals with every macronutrient, it will help your body maintain weight.  try meals with starch, protein, fats and greens.  these are generally more satiating then meals with fruits instead of starches, but see how your body reacts.  try cooked sweet potato and have a SMALL portion of it with each meal and just change up your protein and fat ratio with what works best for you.  this should help you get past bingeing by alleviating blood sugar swings, you want to avoid having your blood sugar go to low and also give your body the right nutrients to hold onto weight.  have half a sweet potato, a hunk of meat warmed with some meat fat(or eggs, whites cooked, yolks runny, or raw fatty fish, or raw liver...etc), greens and maybe some raw cheese as a meal.  add a little garlic, lemon or ginger and some seaweed to help with digestion and mineral content.

you might start to panic if this diet works because you are likely still holding on to some super thin, high strung ideal of yourself, and being calm and gaining weight will feel like being lazy, but remember you are working on relaxing your system to heal your anxiety and balance your weight issues, and that is what happens when you are relaxed and WELL nourished.  the point is gentle moderation and calm, effective energy.

bears only move in the fall to eat, and when they are done eating for the day they rest, and when the winter comes and they have plumped up, they sleep.

jicama seems to get starchier with age...?

i mostly do sweet potatoes and sunchokes, since i can get them the most locally grown. i prefer them to all other subterranean vegetables as they seem to give the best energy and are incredibly satisfying. i do love jicama but i have yet to find it organic, its the one thing i eat that is conventional, but i really try and avoid it.  i have tried regular potatoes and they seem to give me joint pain so i am not sure i have found the right way to prepare them or perhaps i will always be sensitive to them?  yams are off limits as they make my temples swell. i try to avoid carrots and parsnips these days as they are not as satiating as starchier tubers.

i dont think dates are starchy ATribeCalledPaleo...but i understand.

i had to dig this thread up because i have found that aging and drying jersusalem artichokes makes them much more palatable.  it seems as though i am more acutely aware of live foods having mild toxic taste to them when they are in the wrong state to eat, so its been fun learning the process of "at which stage does this food taste the most edible".  mostly it involves neglect...

zuchinni and cabbage make excellent juices!  dont forget to use wild greens and herbs.  you might want to stay away from juicing roots, i think we probably treated roots way differently then chewing and spitting.

having only seen a handful, maybe even only three, wild hives in my life, i cant imagine id ever be able to source it for myself in much quantity, and that it would be a rare treat in a more wild, natural life.  i guess i am similar to cherimoya kid in that i eat quantities of it for a short period, maybe even only a day or two, and then am done.  its definitely not something i would want to eat daily, or monthly even.  i do find that it seems to fill its specific, ultra nutrient and calorie dense niche and has some intense calming and strengthening qualities.  this post only made me curious about the honey eating habits of people on the forum, and it just seems odd to obtain honey from afar and eat it regularly, or to eat honey regularly in general, espseically if you cant source it locally.

How much honey do you guys eat?  Its like a twice a year thing to have a mouthful of it here.  Some of the local organic farmers at the farmers market will sell comb they cut themselves and I trust that its totally raw other than where the hot knife cut the edges, they dont have the budget or time for tools to do otherwise.  If i couldnt get that it wouldnt really matter, I dont live where it makes sense for honey to be part of the diet.

i just didnt see anything remotely compelling or attractive about the woman in the article and cant imagine why you would want such a character to "represent" this way of living.  its an interesting paradigm that people who seek out this diet are generally very independent minded and the diet itself SHOULD lead to a more individualistic and instinctive approach to a personalized diet and lifestyle, thats something very difficult to gurutise.

Saiga antelope have an extremely distinctive appearance with an enlarged nose that hangs down over the mouth. Despite their common name these ungulates are thought to be intermediates between antelope and sheep.

Basically they are just controlled diabetics, they are fucking with their insulin to have dumps of it, I know in my eating disorder/exercise bulemia days i had a pretty good grasp on maintaining a super lean physique while bingeing on carbs, as long as i could spaz the fuck out for hours on end and sweat my ass off.  I am sure they both have super high anxiety, cant relax and dont sleep much.  Freelees body is a pretty good sign of malnutrition, shes a fucking bobble head for gods sake, and those tits arent real.  I doubt she is fertile.

Is there a farmers market in your town?  You might try and see if they dont have a meat vendor there.  You might also check if there is a weston a price chapter in your town, they often set up deliveries from decent farms.  I have had mixed result from Whole Foods but am still alive and kicking....perhaps just go for larger cuts, avoid their ground products, and avoid chicken.  I have heard that factory farmed "organic" chicken is still allowed growth stimulants...

you probably need to figure out what in your LIFE is the source of anxiety.  are you at a job or in school for a career that isnt really fulfilling?  are you in a shitty relationship you are hanging onto because of low self esteem? are you not engaging in certain activities because you fear judgement?  are there slight modifications to your daily schedule you can make to free up more time for the things you love?  do you spend to much time on hobbies or habits that you know lead to anxiety or adhd, like video games etcetc where you are in your mind and not paying attention to your bodies needs?  do you over exercise?  do you have a bad sleep schedule?
