General Discussion / Re: Wild Plants: How do you if its edible...
« on: October 25, 2009, 10:06:23 am »
definitely go out with someone who knows how to id plants, go to your library and find books that are specific to your region on plants that are edible/medicinal(definitely dont try an id mushrooms yourself, they are super hard and especially toxic even in small quantities, i have almost died from a super minute amount, and i did not even have rad hallucinations!)
mostly i just get the books, i spend and have spent so much time outside and with plants that with the addition of some references and knowledgeable friends i am definitely getting better at identification

i am not sure, in our history as a species, how we aquired the knowledge in the first place though.  i think probably a lot of trial and error, i know a lot of posionous plants are only deadly after eating quite a bit

its probably sweet because, regardless of the egocentricism of our species, its probably not poisonous to its intended consumer, so it can pass on its seeds, or maybe its sweet from the nectar it needs to attract its pollenators, or like other night shades its sweet because for the seeds to become fertile they need to ferment when the fruit has fallen to the ground

wheat is a grass and i the part you eat is the seed but it doesnt have a "fruit" element

rosehips are high in vitamin c, good for your gums, helps you absorb iron
the ones in the canyons here are not to fuzzy to enjoy, and sweeter after a frost, they cna be gathered and steeped into tea

there are all kinds of wild/native raspberries, cherries, apples, apricots, currants here, which can be a significant source of calories as each kind ripens at once and if one is intent on gathering and storing them could provide sustanance

i know last winter after successive snows and thaws i would eat apples that had fallen under a tree in the fall and had freeze dried themselves and were super delicious

General Discussion / Re: hyper awareness, paranoia, agression

i am allergic to most grains but i dont do very well without carbs
i eat foraged or my own home grown fruit for breakfast(mostly apples, berries, tomatoes), lunch of meat and raw root veggies/peas with yummy meaty dinner
i also eat like a fucking pound or more of greens, i am addicted to romaine lettuce, with super drippy opiumy latex stuff that is in the heart and too much spirulina/seaweeds

im allergic to milk and eggs too so i feel laking for options/diversity, i havent tried raw chicken because it grosses me out more then "high meat" or roadkill (which dont actually gross me out that much)

ill have to start eating more white fish

i also have been thinking about colors and chakras/auras
orange and red and root and sacral colors and they have to do with more primal and instinctual needs and urges and also sexuality(which may be aggressive tendencies as well)
i have been thinking maybe i am consuming too much of this color???
white can be the crown chakra so maybe that would be good to feed that part of the spectrum

i dont know sometimes i get a little bummed when my brain is working well because this universe is extremely dynamic...makes me want to eat popcorn and dull my neurotransmitters lol

General Discussion / hyper awareness, paranoia, agression
« on: October 16, 2009, 03:55:00 am »
ive always had these personal traits to a varying degree but most often more aware of my surroundings, hypersensitive to noise, color and movement, slightly paranoid and extremely aggressive compared to others. also weird because i am a female and have been this way since i was just a little wildebeast!

however i have notived an increase in these that seems to coincide with my comsumption of raw meats.

i eat elk and salmon, sometimes buffalo (if im cooking it at work)
maybe too much elk?

i remember discussing with someone that the feelings that an animal experiences at death are carried over into the muscles via different hormone and other chemicals releases into the body at that point....
anyone know anything about that?

definitely wont stop or slow my comsumption just something i have recognized lately...... >:
