buffalo hunter: yes i eat it raw and it is definitely a different physiological state that it produces: a little more inflammation  a little less 'clean' feeling. tastes fine though like candy(must he the soy beans)-a robust and waxy taste.

Would this be a possible perhaps ideal source of magnesium? Or toxic???

General Discussion / acids and bases ph the body as chemistry set
« on: March 06, 2012, 04:59:46 am »
Is it a myth that acidic foods should be avoided? Why or why not. I have been hearing that calcification of the soft tissues can occur through consuming acidic foods. What are some thoughts on this?

I am looking for people interested in setting up a farming venture in Canada. I am looking into mealworms and chickens. It will be based on the lower mainland in Surrey and I will cultivate a survivalist lifestyle around it, hopefully with other like-minded compatriots.

56
I've decided to eliminate it owing to the belief that its inclusion would be an excess of calcium. It was mainly a protein and calcium source for me but I'll be seeking alternatives.

57
Thanks for the replies guys. I am thinking more along the linesof optimal calcium dose to AVOID soft tissue calcification. Currently I have been consuming approx. 100 grams of cheese but am thinking that ths also is too high. Unfortunately my diet options are limited at this point and I have toavail myself of grain fed beed, battery eggs, cheddar cheese and related fare. Any advice? Should I omit the cheese and substitute more protein, etc.?

A simple question: should one include cheese in the diet?
I do but am seriously considering eliminating it to avoid calcification of the soft tissues and casein protein. What are the communities'  thoughts on cheese and its benefits/detriments?

how long does raw beef fat last out of the fridge? I am thinking of the post-apocalypse(post NWO takeover).
Answers would be nice.

General Discussion / Herbs and vegetable matter
« on: February 10, 2012, 02:41:37 am »
Are they a necessity in diet? I personally feel that the fibre is a desirable thing as without the stools come out hard and with difficulty. Anyone had similar experiences? Why not include herbs and vegetables? If not why not? If so what types would be the best? I am currently incorporating boiled cabbage and dried parsley and oregano as well as turmeric, garlic, ginger, cayenne, black pepper, paprika(all in dried or powdered form as I don't like to waste time cooking and minimizing preparation). What are the arguments for and against including vegetable matter in the diet?

General Discussion / Re: SUET shelf life rancidity
« on: February 10, 2012, 02:36:06 am »
Why do you consider it "the worst type of animal fat around"? I thought its fatty acid ratio was "optimal" and well suited to human diet as well as being a source over the development of human history(bison hunts, etc.--ruminant fat the same or similar stuff...?)? I have been in the habit of using the "paleohacks" site and it is forever touted as 'optimal' in their clicheed turn of phrase. Why not 'optimal'? What would you recommend for raw fat in its place?

Does the muscle meat fat have a distinct name? Does its nutritional profile differ from that of suet? I have entered "beef fat" nutritional profile etc. into google and got no response.

General Discussion / SUET shelf life rancidity
« on: February 09, 2012, 01:12:30 am »
Hi. Is 'SUET' raw beef/mutton fat? According to wikipedia it is....
My question is what is its shelf-life out of the fridge/in the fridge and #2 does it go rancid, if so under what conditions(prolonged oxygen exposure? heat?). PLease advise as I would like to get out of the habit of cooking...also  wikipedia says it contains over 800kcal. per 100 grams...this seems an inflated figure. Care to elaborate on this anyone?

I had been in the habit up to a month or so ago of eating 1 pound per day of raw grain-fed beef for approx. 7 months. No problems(although the grass-fed was better)....

In answer to some of the above questions: I mainly have the diet I have because of lack of financial resources at present. Coffee=lipolysis and neural stimulation as well as a little magnesium and anti-O2; cabbage to get some fibre to facilitate digestion and clearance; gelatin to balance amino acids(no great sources available for gelatin---the real is definitely not the ideal here of course); Why the dozen whites then the dozen yolks?: mainly because this way ±I only cook once per day and take the whites post workout as a quick protein and it is a good catalyst of the herbs and spices I consume--also I like to eat the yolks raw and cook the whites so I've found it most efficient to break them up...IF I were better off I would simply toss the whites and consume 2 dozen yolks per day. IF cheese had less calcium and sodium I would consume much more as I find it more easily digestible than meat(unless the meat is ground. I would like to generate a good protein source by consuming meal worms and intend to start a worm farm for personal consumption as well as for commercial purposes.

General Discussion / fermentation and goitrogens
« on: February 04, 2012, 02:27:49 am »
Hi. I would like to know what sort of vegetables can be fermented from a raw state which don't contain goitrogens. I have recently heard that sauerkraut contains alot and that it should be avoided for this reason.  Any thoughts. I am looking mainly into probiotic substances that don't necessarily require refrigeration(at least for a good while).

General Discussion / routine criticism

Hi everyone. I have recently developed a new set of routines for diet and exercise and would appreciate some criticism. Here it is:

(1) (wake-up)--mobilize the joints then: magnesium/zinc/vitamin d/ vitamin c with a 1/2 cup of lemon juice
(walk with a weight vest for 40 minutes)
Meal 1: 1 dozen egg yolks/ 40-50 grams of cheese / dried parsley and oregano / 2 tbsps gelatin powder / 12 coffee beans / handful of boiled cabbage
meal 2: 8 oz. beef with culture butter or tallow (+ 1 vitamin d)
Workout(weights 45 minutes)
meal 3: 1 dozen egg whites / cheese(50 grams)(or liver 6 oz. every 3rd day) coconut+ spices and herbs mag/zinc/vit.d/vit.c
walk with vest(again)
meal 4: meat(8 oz.) + butter or tallow(+ 1 vitamin d)
massage/stretch/sleep

Let me know what you think.

General Discussion / Re: Unusual FOOD

Currently I have had to resort to grain fed meat so my qustion would be whether domesticated animals are not preferable given the pampering they recieve, the old "give away puupies etc"

General Discussion / Unusual FOOD
« on: January 31, 2012, 02:02:30 am »
I hear that in the orient certain kinds of meat are viable options. The list includes such fare as canine and feline varieties of all sorts and descriptions as well as rodents. Perhaps those in the western world would be better advised to avail themselves of the domesticated fare in place of throwing away societies resources on "pleasure animals", a.k.a 'pets. Just a thought for the environmentally inclined. Why not eat DOGGIES and KITTIES? I hear many a pup is given away and needs a home...why not in the oven? Seriously...if the PC crowd advocates chopping the balls off animals so they can't live a "NATURAL" life propagating their won kind would it not be better to make them into food? Whould this be unhealthy given the diet of most domesticated pets? Let me hear you thoughts(p.s try to keep the moralizing to tolerable levels)...
