Raw duck- is it good, is it fatty?  I have found a great local source for this and may purchase it, also plain duck fat too if possible. Ever had plain raw duck fat?

Off Topic / Drugs and alcohol
« on: August 20, 2011, 12:56:01 pm »
I don't like them. i don't enjoy drinking or smoking marijuana. I can't understand why people think it's cool and fun. when people ask me if i drink or smoke i scoff and say "no why would i"

Marijuana doesn't seem to have any positive health effects when smoked and it just makes a person too relaxed and carefree. i don't want to be relaxed. i want to be on the top of my game at all times, especially at work-always pushing the limit. also when i want to be relaxed, i do just that. Lay down on my bed and relax. I don't need to pay $5 each time to do it and cause lung damage.

And drinking alcohol may be healthfully okay when done in small amounts, but i really don't think it is good for a person. Getting drunk is so gross. Throwing up and being all promiscuous, yuck. I don't care to be ininhibited. I love being inhibited. I like being uptight. It's fun, having a good time with my wits fully intact. And sometimes people ask me "so are you just the designated driver or something?" I just laugh "heck no, I may not be a real social butterfly, but i've got better things to do than drive a bunch of drunk people around all night. i'd rather stay home and watch a 3 hour golden girls marathon than do that"

I like to be at the top of my game at all time. I want to be in my best wits at all times. Relaxing is nice after work, but i want to be able to snap out of in in an instant if i need to.

Well, I was just wondering if anyone else felt the same way as me. It seems like everyone at my work does not agree with me, bunch of hippies:)

Health / gluten intolerance
« on: August 03, 2011, 12:34:23 pm »
What are some good ways to heal the intestines faster from the effects of glutens and other grains? The raw paleo diet does heal them for me but i am interested in some other supplemental approaches to help speed it up. I ate some gluten foods while i was on vacation and now i am regretting it :(

General Discussion / back fat-how much per animal?
« on: June 22, 2011, 05:45:40 am »
does anyone know how much back fat you can get off an average sized cow? i am trying out a new supplier and the owner said he cuts 3-4 cows per month. these are a small breed of cow. I am the only one who is interested in the fat so i think it should be enough for me.

When i think about eating fruits and vegetables:
fruits seem really acidic and too sugary, my teeth cringe.
vegetables seem really unappetizing. They dont seem fit to eat. so bitter and it feels like i'm eating a houseplant or something.
meat is the only thing that feels right.

Hot Topics / "health specialist" way off target on nutrition
« on: November 24, 2010, 09:09:01 am »
For one of my classes at school i had to listen to this woman from the largest healthcare center in the city talk about nutrition and healthy diet. this was over the course of several weeks. i was astounded by how wrong she was about nutrition. here are the "facts" she told us:

-meat protein should only be a small addition to the meal.
-the diet should consist of 50% grains! 25%produce and just 25% or less of protein.
-beans and nuts are a much more healthy source of protein than meat.
-soy products are healthy. she even passed around some sort of canned soy product and callled it healthy. processed and loaded with unnatural salt no doubt.
-saturated fat (animal fats) are unhealthy and the oils from plants are much healthier. she said this "saturated fats are solid at room temperature so that should tell you something" -like what i ask you? that doesn't even make sense.
-cholesteral is bad for you.

i was astounded by how wrong she was and this woman was sent by the biggest healthcare center around. well i went home and enjoyed a fatty piece of meat after each of those lecture i tell you. bigger than usual and fattier to boot. damn skippy i did.

Carnivorous / Zero Carb Approach / emergency fat?
« on: November 12, 2010, 08:05:05 am »
What do you eat if you got a bad batch of fat from the butcher? -[ this rarely happens for me, maybe once every couple months. i just cannot eat plain protein without fat to go with. it makes my head hurt if i eat too much protein. the fat also helps my digestion. what i ate this time was organic butter. for 2 days until the next half of beef was cut.

General Discussion / shank advice:
« on: August 14, 2010, 02:18:59 am »
Right now I can get a fair share of organic shank bones per week about 12-15 2 inch size pieces. I want more though. They say at the organic butcher that I could also get the bones from the cows they slaughter which are owned by other people.
I don't know for sure if these cows are 100% organic and grassfed. The butcher said most of the local people don't bother with pestacides and stuff like that, but I can't be sure. I love shank bones and salivate just thinking about them...what do you suggest I do?

Hot Topics / Vegan/soy diet does cause androgeny:
« on: July 18, 2010, 01:48:31 pm »
I have worked at a natural health food store for 5 months now. We do sell meat and dairy, but we also cater to a large customer base of vegans.  This is what I have discovered about them:
a) the females are oftentimes boyish and look prepubescent in structure and some noticeable facial hair.
b) the males are oftentimes effeminate with high voices and very little muscle mass.
c) vegans are not necessarily thin, some are fat.
d) oftentimes vegans have bad skin.

I have not done any actual research, but just constant observation.

General Discussion / Raw shank bones-duration
« on: July 18, 2010, 01:36:03 pm »
How long have you kept cut raw shank bones in the refer? I have some in there since Tuesday and the bone part smells funny, but I think the marrow is just fine. I may skim a tiny bit off the open ends before I eat it tommorrow morning.
I may be getting a higher quanity of shank bones regularly so I am just wondering how long I can go with them in the refer.
Thanks,
Nicole

General Discussion / females-how much do you eat per day?
« on: June 17, 2010, 08:17:31 am »
Females: How much meat do you eat per week?
This question is for those who eat most all meat (all raw of course).
I eat about 11 lbs of meat per week, with 2-4lbs raw fat, and the marrow from about 7-8 lbs shank bones. (basically all of the marrow from a side of beef except the pieces that go with certain cuts.) When I tell people how much meat I eat per week they are flabbergasted of course. :o Because I am rather small and girlish.

General Discussion / different types of fat
« on: June 08, 2010, 07:36:43 am »
Do you know if different types of beef fat are named differently? I know that their is one kind that I really like which is very white and looks a little bit like shortening. It seperates when bent
thanks.

General Discussion / Do you use silverware?
« on: May 31, 2010, 11:24:32 am »
I just realized how savage I must look if someone were to see me eating a meal. I usually eat in my car either driving somewhere or parked on my breaks. I just slice off a large chunk and rip at it with my teeth. I don't think I've ever used a fork.

General Discussion / What is your favorite cut of meat to buy?
« on: May 31, 2010, 11:16:54 am »
What are your favorite cuts of cow to buy and why?
Here are mine:
1. Shank bones- I like to bite off the extra meat from the outside and push the marrow out easily when it is slightly softened and enjoy. Good and inexpensive.
2. London broil- Inexpensive with little fat (I buy my fat dirt cheap on the side). Perfect helping for one meal for me.
3. Round steak- I like to buy a 2-3X thick one of these to eat over a couple of days, fairly cheap, and a special prize in the middle for dessert.

General Discussion / meat-slightly dried
« on: May 25, 2010, 10:14:41 am »
Hi. If my meat gets slightly dried on the outside after being stored in the refer for several day, does it lose nutrition? Also if my beef fat gets slightly dried does it lose nutrition? (it still tastes good) Thanks

P.S. I think I have found the best way to store my meat for up to 5 days, which is great because I was posting here like crazy for a while about it (so annoying)  :P

Would raw unfertilized organic eggs from the health food store be good to eat if I'm in a pinch? How do most paleos react to them?
Thank you

General Discussion / storing raw fat
« on: May 11, 2010, 08:24:07 am »
I got some raw fat on friday and have been eating it over the weekend. It developed a couple of greenish spots today and the pieces smell strong of plants. What is the best way to store it? I have been storing it on a glass cassarole dish.
