General Discussion / Fear of high Oxalate Foods
« on: October 12, 2015, 03:39:11 am »
I tend to eat quite a bit of spinach.  I don't eat only spinach but I do eat it quite often in salads and occasional smoothies.

Then all of the sudden I started finding these articles about the high oxalate counts in spinach, swiss chard, dark chocolate, etc..

Now Im a afraid to eat spinach.  Do the benefits outweigh the oxalate danger.  And are oxalates even dangerous?  is this a myth?

Ive also read multiple articles about oxalates being beneficial and necessary for proper digestion...  Any thoughts?

General Discussion / Re: When to eat fruit?
« on: September 04, 2015, 09:38:51 pm »
I really only eat berries, apple, plums and occasional melon...

I think I was looking for example of what time in the day you guys eat fruit.   Does anybody just eat fruit whenever they want and have no problems digesting it?

Is there a specific time fruit should be eaten in terms of healthy digestion?   Does anybody with no digestive problems follow any rules of when to eat fruit or do you eat it whenever  you want?   Such first thing in the morning, by itself,  not after a meal, etc...

General Discussion / Re: Lets Discuss Raw Eggs
« on: July 26, 2015, 10:27:34 am »
My source of raw eggs is from farmers market, free range, cage free, omnivorous chickens who sometimes get organic vegetables as a supplement.

I try to eat with the seasons, even with my eggs...Im actually trying to learn more about seasonal eating with everything..
I consume alot of bison meat as well and trying to eat it in season.. Eating meat like i do.. it is hard to know when it is in season.

My goal is to eventually be 100 percent instincto while eating foods closer to the ancient varieties (EX: dandelion greens and wild berries) completely with the seasons... but at the moment I am trying to heal my body  from years of junk food eating.
I find it easy to heal with smoothies, very lightly cooked rare meat, eggs, some greens and low sugar berries.

but pack to the point....I find that even not eating instinctively... including a raw egg or two on a daily basis makes me feel pretty darn good..
Ive never really enjoyed the consistency of raw eggs but I feel like they add something Im missing.

Two of the oldest women in the world (if not the two oldest) contribute there longevity (115+ years) partially to eggs/raw eggs

General Discussion / Lets Discuss Raw Eggs
« on: July 26, 2015, 08:35:26 am »
Lately Ive been getting a little away from anopsology but still try to do it alot but thats besides the point

Alot of my friends consume alot of raw eggs and have been trying to get me to consume more of them for year... I have read up alot on raw eggs being good for longevity.... explain this to me?

why are raw eggs such a good food and do you agree with them being a good food to eat every day?

I have been making some smoothies with wild dandelion, wild blueberries, half a banana and 2 raw eggs everyday and it makes me feel  really
satisfied.

So lets discuss the benefits of raw eggs and why they are good for health, longevity, etc..

General Discussion / Eating a Hybrid Food? OKay?
« on: June 12, 2015, 01:18:54 pm »
I am trying to eat my foods as close to the wild varieties as possible but am wondering about somethings that I love

Sugar snap peas are a cross between garden peas and snow peas and I love them.. Is there anything wrong or bad with
eating a semi hybrid food like this?  I'm starting to think that while eating wild is great certain hybrid foods are fine and beneficial for you
as well as tasting better.

Or an occasional honeycrisp apple?

General Discussion / Re: Are we more adapted to certain fruits?
« on: June 07, 2015, 02:44:41 am »
but specifically it isn't likely that as a caucasian with recent european ancestry..

is more likely adapted to Figs(using figs because it is the fruit I associate with being the most common primate fruit) than say Blueberries from North America.   Does adaptation and evolution work like that specifically?

Take a person who evolved in Asia place them in North America have them eat a wild diet of fruits, greens, nuts and meat (like a healthy native american)  and they will still be just as healthy?

also For some reason I always think that we spent so much time evolving with the other great apes in Africa... but obviously nothing is proven... so then I think we should be benefiting the most from those African rain forest foods.

Health / Re: Cyst disappeared? WTF?!

man i lived with that cyst that was like an irritating little stab in my frickin' testi for yearssss..I even had it removed (surgery) and it came back instantly

My diet is not as good as it used to, I drink too much coffee..eat to much grain, started consuming the hell out of ACV and boom..
WTF?!  Pectin is the reason? i dont think I couldve consumed that many raw apples too = the acv I consumed

It makes me think that ACV is probably doing good things to other organs in my body

Health / Cyst disappeared? WTF?!
« on: June 06, 2015, 07:38:41 am »
Not to get graphic but... For like 4 years I had this pebble sized cyst on my actual left testicle. Not on the skin but an actual little pebble feeling hard little nodule on the testicle itself (i think the doctor say it was an epydidimal calcification/cyst)... I did absolutely nothing different except... I started drinking apple cider vinegar like it was going out of style.....because somebody told me to try it to help digestion before
my cheat meals.  (i sometimes cheat on my raw/paleo/health lifestyle when I go out with friends)
Then I started drinking it randomly just because.  Big a$$ glasses of it too...

I usually do not believe in these ancient remedies but what the hell?  Did this work?  The cyst I had for multiple years reduced in size by 75 percent and is now damn near gone.  And I cant even feel it anymore.

  (sorry for the graphicness)

Just speculating, but I am wondering if there is an ethnic difference as regards tolerance of/preference for  certain foods. I recall, for example,  one attempt (by vegans??) to suggest that African Negroes were more suited to a plant-based diet than other ethnic groups. I have also come across claims that the Inuit have larger livers etc.  in order to handle their  former) largely ZC/RZC diet.I don't know, perhaps tubers are more designed for ethnicities from hotter climates etc.etc.

Following on from this, one would expect those from hotter climates to positively thrive on tropical fruits, with those descended from more northerly climes to favour mostly berries, medlars, apples and pears and the like.

but when did this prefernces/adaptions take place. because we once were all a tropical species

I was wondering if say there is a different in the way humans absorb nutrition from say a piece of kale or a peice of lettuce

or plum or fig? or is all about nutrition?

I just had a random thought that figs might be the healthiest fruit for humans becuase of evolution.. and the facts that bonobos chimps gorillas all eat almost exclusively figs when it comes to fruit

I have a terrible reaction to coconut oil as well Tyler... It gives terrible headaches, almost like a detox symptom.  I use it for "oil pulling" and dental health.  I dont think coconut oil is a natural food..   Decent substitute for cooking oil and moisturizing cream, etc.. but I never understand why people ate it like a super food.

say like the fig which is long part of our evolutionary history..Chimps, gorillas, bonobos all primarily (when it comes to the fruit part) eat almost all figs.

Are we more adapted to eating them and benefiting from them as compared to say...
plums, apples, and berries, etc..?  Or does it not work like that?

I love plums, pears and wild blueberries, and, most berries for that matter... but from what I recall I did really enjoy figs unless they were not ripe yet when I ate them... End Rant

Any thoughts on my random thoughts lol?  O0

Lol thanks Eve... sorry i should of read your post above where you mentioned what you use.
(new to doing my own laundry)

Not that I have stains on my undergarments lol.. I just dont want to take any chances of harmful residue/germs etc...
(need to beat my germaphobia) :P

Even more of an ethical thing....  Does using soap or vinegar or baking soda (natural products) do anything harmful to the
water supply/enviornment?

I have a washing machine but no dryer.

I use washing soda and Charlie's Soap. I'm not endorsing Charlie's soap, but I do want to mention that it contains a surfactant only - no optical brighteners, no bleach, no nuttin' - so depending on how you feel about using a surfactant, it might be an acceptable option.

When people clean their clothes with water only, vigorous agitation is necessary to dislodge the microscopic dirt. That's why you see the womenfolk kneeling on the riverbank, beating their clothes on the rocks. An old-fashioned corrugated metal washboard does the same job. Surfactants are "wetting agents" that hold the dirt in suspension so it can be washed away with only slight agitation, such as in a washing machine. My style of washing and air drying leaves clothes a little stiff, but not terribly so, because I am not using chemical softeners.

I run an extra water-only rinse cycle each week before I do the first load of laundry to flush out the stagnant water in the machine. If you have never smelled that water, try sticking your nose in that first drainage water after the machine has been sitting for a week.

Thanks for the tip.. is it necessary to sanitize your washing machine and dyer once a month as recommended online?

And I also keep reading that water only doesnt get everything out of the clothes as good as sometime of detergent or soap does...
Is this true?  or just paranoid people?

Lol i hate those chemical Toothpastes... You should look into mudmouth by honeydew naturals...

http://shop.honeydewnaturals.com/Mud-Mouth-Herbal-Toothpaste-65oz-007.htm

Or maybe some paste from Redmond clay with some peppermint oil added? Also nothing works to cure bad breath as good as a tongue scraper does.

Im asking these laundry questions because I just moved into my own place with a washer and dryer for the first time ( I never have had to do my own laundry before)
and Im a semi germaphope.. Not so much about food and raw meat but more so other things

I have been reading that you need to clean and sanitize your washing machine once in a while (once a month)
I did this at my parents house with white vinegar and baking soda

and am wondering does anybody do same with the dryer? Clean it with anything on the inside?

A few more questions-  Do you need to wash your under garments separate from your shirts, pants, etc...

Add what about towels and sheets? wash those separately?

"Need"?  well i gues you dont "Need" to do anything technically

But I think it can only benefit to remove dead skin cells, and pollution from the air off your clothing

as long as the water you are using isnt terribly polluted
