A numbr of rawpalaeos also appear to have issues with rawcoconut oil. My own experience was an absolute disaster - I tried it for the 1st time a couple of years ago and ended up with very, very  painful stomach-aches as a result.

So melodramatic. Disaster this disaster that.

Anywho, coconut oil works just fine for me.

Tubers are a paleo food.

Chocolate could be considered paleo as well, its a fruit seed.

No it wouldn't my friend

The cocoa bean yes, but not processed chocolate.

He switched to a cooked simple vegan diet for a few days, as he said that felt best in his stomach.  He also went back to (strong) prescription antacids now, and he hadn't been on them since adding milk and honey to his diet Spring/Summer 2009.  He's trying to ween himself off the antacids without success this time so far.  He did go back to raw vegetarian (no egg no rennet as always so far) after those few days of cooked vegan.  About a little over a week after the bleeding, the bleeding stopped.  We have not gone to a hospital.  He wants to avoid hospitals still, after things doctors at hospitals did to him, those doctor he had seen proved they are creeps on him in front of me and dh etc.  He's hesitant to try meat (raw fish) again.  His diet is very limited.  We're finding some other raw juices he'll drink, but not green juices.  As for green juice, maybe cucumber, but not really any other can he stand at all.  He does tolerate a little bit of kale/lettuce juice, and very infrequently.  He doesn't drink green juice.  His diet is unusual, raw and organic, but limited, next to nil variety. Wish us good luck/bless etc thanks.

Whats wrong with him? maybe I can help

You look quite good. You don't look like someone who's had problems with disease

But non the less it will be interesting to read how you fare on RPD. Also I think you will recover faster if you do some added exercise plus the yoga, you will get faster muscle tone aswell

This is revealing. So many RVAFers experience problems with raw dairy that if anyone, such as you, who experiences any slight symptom from it in the short-term, it is likely to get serious problems from raw dairy in the long-term. I can see a major flaw in FTH's advice to consume raw dairy:-  he claimed that your teeth issues were solely a result of eating a nutritionally-deficient diet(ie due to past raw vegan/fruitarian experiences) - however, if that were really so, then eating cooked meat should have done the trick alone as regards upping nutrient levels, as even cooked meats are complete foods.

And, of course, the cravings you felt towards raw dairy are a common symptom of allergy.

What is interesting is that pasteurised dairy has been linked to osteoprosis:-

http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/206725/how_dairy_actually_causes_osteoporosis.html?cat=5

so, clearly, dairy is a problem re bone-loss, usually. Since the issue centres around the excess calcium in dairy, the same applies to raw dairy, of course, which has plenty of bioavailable calcium itself.

So when I crave meat, it's due to an allergy? There are so many dimensions to craving something, so don't pretend you know the full spectrum of it.

No, she's been starved for over a year. Along with water fasting for over 30 days. A few days or weeks eating cooked muscle meat wont change that. It will take months to recover.

As far as dairy goes, I'm not gonna bother arguing. Only time will tell whether it proves harmful or not. The fact of the matter is I don't know and you certainly don't know either. All I know is that I have no harmful effects of dairy and you know it doesn't agree with you. So like with every single food group on the planet, there's research that says it's beneficial, and then there's research that says it's not.

So my advice Jennie, will be as always; Try a food out for a certain amount of time and see how you fare on it. Take peoples advice with a grain of salt. Especially of those who claim to have the 'right' answer.

Yes, I do get scared, but am trying to keep faith. Thank you for your support.

The dental situation is what made me want to give up milk. I feel my saliva goes a bit sour from it and I don't want to aggravate the situation. I felt I needed the milk in the beginning, but right now I don't have the craving anymore. I might have it again if I start craving it.
I also read that a lot of people with dental health problems do better when they stop consuming dairy.

I really don't know much about the benefits of different vegetables. Celery seems to have some good qualities. I've stopped eating salt. Is the sodium in Celery good when you have tooth problems?

I had raw boone marrow and it was nice, but I feel like I'm hungry all the time.

Dairy wont hurt your teeth trust me on that. You shouldn't stop eating salt it provides a huge spectrum of minerals. Find a good source of salt and eat a little bit every week. (Himalayan salt, good sea salt etc, not iodized junk)

And if you're hungry all the time try upping your fat intake, but don't overdo it. Listen to your body. Cellery is fine for your teeth. It sounds like you are undernourished and your body has started accessing your bones for minerals causing your teeth problem. The food it self is not the problem. You fasted way too much if I read your post correctly. Keep drinking milk if you have no problems with it.

Also, relax, be happy, your body will recover.

Celery isn't bad. Yeah, it costs your body more energy to digest it than it provides. But cellery has a lot of natural sodium which helps your digestion a lot. It helps form hydrocloric acid.

I know you're scared, but trust me you will be OK. Just stay on the forums and ask lots of questions. If health is your goal, you will reach it.

Just curious, why did you stop drinking raw milk?

For me it's been key to start gaining weight again.

Eat meat when very hungry.  Pick the delicious types of fat. Back fat, fresh bone marrow.

I agree with this aswell. Good advice.

i am having issues digesting fat and feel the same way u do with grogyness/poor digestion. I am slowly easing into it with bone marrow a lot, but its like my body recognizes it as completly foriegn. I am stopping my high cardio lifestyle of 20k bike to/from school now though to try and put on weight.

ANYONE GOT TIPS ON ABOSORBING THE FAT!!!!????? THANKS

Try eating it with a little pineapple. Aajonus recommends that. Uhm, my advice is just ease into it. Eat a little fat to begin with. Make sure you dont over do it.

Welcome.

Yes you need to drink lots and lots of water with raw meat.

For me the primal diet works very well, although for some others it does not. I suggest to begin with don't over eat on meat or fat. Just listen to your body. As for the headaches, it's just your body doing something. Might be dehydration due to not enough water

I don't think that's a bad theory.

After meat became my only source of solid food my bowel movements have become a lot different. Lots of little hard dime sized 'balls'. It doesn't change much if I cook all my meat.

As far as plants go, we evolved to eat plants and fruit at some point and then we evolved to eat meat. What's the point of taking a step back in evolution when we can be on top of the food chain.

Yeah I'm looking forward to this

wot? It is marvelous food. Nice idea with the honey milkshake, consider it stolen. I usually down an egg or two after work out, and some berries before if i am low on energy for some reason. This is a really good idea you got

Based on what exactly? http://www.myspace.com/joshuatrentine <-ZC RAF pro bodybuilder.

Yes he looks real good. But would he look a lot bigger on cooked with suppliments? Yes, most definitely.

My point is that with cooked you sacrifice some of your health for size, but with RAF you sacrifize size for health. Which is my personal choice

172
Hmm. Thats rather dissapointing and suprising. I would think its easy to get lean on this diet and then just get your cals up and gain lots of muscle. Did you eat a lot of fruit? I personally believe to gain lots of muscle you need at least 250g of carbs a day.

I definitely wasn't eating 250g. Probably more near 100-150g. Although according to the research I've read, the muscle sparing effect of carbs and fat together is similar to if you'd carbs and protein only.

So for example if I ate 100g of carbs and 150g of fat it'd have the same results as 250g of carbs,

I'm not quite sure where I went wrong on the RPD though. Just felt like I couldn't get enough macronutrients in, or they just didn't work very well together. I ate a lot of fat and I just felt really gross, got fat really fast and then I got some ugly eczema on my neck which I've yet to get rid of.

If I had to guess, then I'd say where I went wrong was eating too much fat. The whole thing just never felt right really, fruit although great, just somehow didn't fit into the equation I think. I feel on primal everything fits perfectly together and I feel smashing.

173
Unless you photoshopped it you can only get a picture make you look better to a certain point. What were your results when you went raw paleo/primal?

Nono, no photoshop.

Uhm, RPD not that great. Had no trouble gaining fat due to eating a loot of fat. Muscle was sort of lagging behind, my guess is that fat isn't protein sparing enough and the carbs from fruit just didn't cut it, although I don't know ^^.

I'm gaining weight pretty fast now on Primal, with timed milkshakes with honey after workouts and then plenty of milk meat and fat. I really like it. I know it's not optimal for bodybuilding but I think it's the closest thing in the paleo spectrum.

174
Thats amazing! Were you even close to as toned and big as you are back when you were on a SAD? What does your routine look like???

The picture is taken when I was on cooked. Although granted, very healthy cooked.

My routine varies a lot. Right now lots of HIIT and high intensity crossfitness exercises. (compound lifts and bodyweight training). The lighting in that pic is very generous though, just so you know ;>

175
Is it possible you weren't eating enough and the milk just helped get in the calories? Also is your avatar a picture of you?

I was eating plenty of calories, in fact I'm pretty sure I was over eating. And yep.
