I figure it may not be natural to drink a lot of alcohol but fruits naturally ferment and I'm sure our ancestors would eat them regardless.

I'll find the article later but I remember reading about a gene we have that lets us regenerate certain tissues. Unfortunately its not active, I guess its possible through epigenetics to somehow turn it back on.

I followed this guy for awhile a few years back. I had saw in the last 2 years or something I think he started consulting with D Graham and then I think reverted back to eating raw meat of varying percentages including...lots of meat...to next to no meat.

I admit I haven't checked back recently though as it did tend to seem very lifebloggie as opposed to nutritional or exercise info. He seems to have great speed in addition to 'big muscles' FWIW.
Do you know how he achieved that? Its basically what I'm after lol.

Theres no way you can get grass fed? Theres a reason other than cooking that studies found meat causes cancer, IMO its because its grain-fed SAD beef.

I personally think it screws with something in our bodies but not enough research has been done on the topic.

So I have been 100% raw for a couple days and 100% paleo for a while, I just had my last meal of the night which was all meat and all of a sudden I kind of feel like I'm floating. Similar to smoking pot. Anyone else ever get this?

All I do is eat fruit whenever I feel like it during the day and at night I feast on as much meat as I can stuff myself with :)

Techno you still haven't mentioned whether or not you have passed any worms or tapeworm segments. Also theres no chance that a tapeworm from a tuna can enter the brain. The only cases of tapeworms entering the brain are from pork tapeworms. Also you wouldn't be able to feel it swimming around in there. I don't want to sound like the rest but its unlikely you have a tapeworm let alone a big enough one to cause symptoms.

Welcome FoxWomen !

Does he have any facts to substantiate his 85% claim? On the contrary, we have found over decades of experiences that people eating up to 95% or 99% raw are most of the time unable to stand it in the long run and tend to return to a completely standard cooked diet after some years. Moreover a few percent of cooked food seems to be almost as dangerous in the long term as a standard cooked diet.

The only easy and safe way for me is 100% raw without any dairy.

Well I still haven't transitioned to 100% raw but I am 100% paleo and until I went 100% paleo I was never able to not binge on SAD foods. IMO cold turkey (in this case raw) is the only way to go :)

General Discussion / Re: brain size
« on: February 22, 2011, 04:29:21 am »
The trouble with the brain-size/body-size ratio is that there are a number of big exceptions to this notion among wild species.Elephants come to mind, for example.

As for the Inuit aspect, if brain-size were directly related to intelligence we would by now expect the Inuit to outperform all other groups in professions requiring high intelligence such as the academic world etc. Such is not the case.
I think paleophil is trying to say is that a higher ratio of brain size to animal body is what really matters, at least in part.

The sources for most of such excuses I have seen tend to be bleeding heart liberals hampered by political correctness with little supporting evidence. Granted, brain size isn't all, but it seems like they'll say anything to avoid admitting that larger brain size might possibly be even slightly correlated with higher intelligence.
But do you believe the increased cranium is from genetics or from diet? Because it seems like it would make sense that a high pufa diet would increase brain size. Because the reverse of the situation, a vegetarian diet actually decreases brain size.

Cousens? I thought he was vegan? Although he did agree with Mercola that raw eggs are a "great source of protein" (why do so many people focus on the protein in animal foods and ignore what hunter gatherers value more--the fat?) but said that he doesn't eat them because they are gross or something like that, I think. Cousens also argued that eating animal foods hurts one karmically, IIRC.
They focus on protein more for two reasons IMO. First is the lack of protein in raw and especially fruitarian diets, other than RAF which is still not even close to mainstream raw. It is also largely ignored because all of the studies that supposedly show that fat causes cancer and heart disease blah blah blah.

To bad we have never done any tests on the intelligence of the inuit.
