I'm wondering if any of you have ever taken a Myers Briggs Type Indicator test. It's a test, inspired by Carl Jung's ideas, that determines which of the 16 personality types you have a preference for. Yes everyone's different but everyone falls into one of these 16 types in some degree. I have prefs for INFJ(introverted/intuitive/feeling/judging) I think I might be able to guess Geoff's type to be INTP or INTJ, not sure. :) Here's a link to a short test that I feel is pretty accurate. You can read your profile once you get the results. You may be surprised at how accurately it describes you! I'm interested in what others on this profile test to be. Let me know how it goes.

Off Topic / Coming Clean
« on: September 20, 2008, 12:02:16 pm »
Well, as most of you know, I haven't been around much the past few weeks because, quite frankly, I've gone pretty wayward re my diet regimen. I feel I should come clean to you all as to my small downfall because I don't want to be hypocritical. God I feel like dog sh*t right now. The addictive power of cooked food is undeniable. I was doing so well!
Along the way, I've been trying to fight back by keeping raw food in my diet as well which is what has been keeping me afloat but I've basically been giving in to almost every little temptation that comes my way, even alcohol. I feel so weak.
In any case, I will never give up my path to radiant health and will continue to pick myself back up and brush myself off. I completely believe in the RAF diet and will regain everything I've lost in these few short weeks. It'll probably take me at least a month to feel good again but, damnit, feel good I will. I've felt like I've lost a lot! Man, health is so delicate.
I know you all will understand because you're a pretty smart bunch. Thanks. ;)

Reluctant too buy a weigh scale, so how to find the proportions of rendered fat to dried beef?

Traditional pemmican makers had no scales, of course they had generations of experience; I have neither, still, there must be a way.
I've thought of just mixing it so it isn't too runny, maybe not.

Have dried 5 lb. (before drying) already, and am about to start on the fat rendering.

Ideas wanted.

I've read that about a 1/1 ratio of meat to fat is a good place to start. I think it may depend on your tastes. Personally, I think I'd prefer a little more fat being that it's a little more important than the meat and it is what is helping it keep.
I've been planning on making many many pounds of pemmican to store for emergency rations because of the hurricanes down here and possible martial law resulting from an inevitable attack on Iran.

General Discussion / Health Plateau
« on: August 14, 2008, 09:32:03 am »
I've wondered if one eventually reaches a plateau of health on the Paleo Diet and spends the rest of one's life in fluctuation around that level or if the body continually improves over the entire course one's life. I know the age at which one starts is important so we'll say a person who begins at the tender age of 30 crawling out of a SAD diet. Any opinions?

General Discussion / Hunting
« on: August 07, 2008, 06:08:45 am »
Does anyone here hunt? I'm taking my hunter's safety course in September and plan to start killin' deer and hogs in October. Depending on how successful I am, it should cut my food bill way down. It makes sense to me for one to be able to hunt there own food. Besides, given the current state of the U.S. economy, I feel much better not having to depend on someone else for sustenance.

Welcoming Committee / Hey Everybody.

Hello. My name's Stephen. I've been reading this forum for about a month and now have decided to introduce myself as a new member. :) I've been raw paleo for about 2 months and on the Primal Diet for 8 months. Had a few bumps along the way with no-no's but have been sticking to it pretty faithfully. It wasn't until I discovered Geoff's blog a couple months ago when I started getting the results I was really looking for. I LOVE BONE MARROW! I eat mostly organs and some muscle meat like lamb ribs, which I also absolutely love, and a little chicken. Don't like the chicken as much but I have a lot of it so... I also eat seafood like salmon, mussels, oysters, and scallops.
I've never felt stronger in my life! My body feels much more dense, if you will. I'll get into the details of my health and improvements later but I can tell you now that I am very excited about my discoveries. Much thanks to everyone who has posted so much valuable information here.

Catch ya later. ;)
