Appendix complications
« on: April 08, 2010, 12:05:00 pm »
I had an appendectomy around March 2009 due to an inflamed appendix, and have since switched to a Paleolithic diet.
Does anyone know of any complications arising from not having an appendix in relation to a raw Paleolithic diet? Perhaps impaired immune system function?

Never heard of one. But since cooked foods cause a reaction from the immune-system each time they are consumed, and since raw fodos help bolster the immune-system, you'd be better off on an RPD diet if you are without an appendix. There have been 1 or 2 mentions in the past re missing appenixes on other forums and they didn't report any negative issues.

Doctors gave aajonus an appendectomy when he was about twelve years old; because he had perotinitis and they were figuring it out or thought they had it figured out.  Without an appendix, aajonus is eating raw meat, low to zero vegetable fiber and a little fruit.  The first few years after his appendix was out he was eating SAD food, then fruitarian and raw vegan.  He's doing better since he added the raw meat.  Those other diets didn't work well enough for him without an appendix.  It's in the books he wrote.

I've had an inflamed appendix more than once both times when I was a teenager.  My appendix inflammation was discovered in hospitals both times.  They didn't do anything about it though; because I had poor health insurance and they thought I'd survive anyway.  I'm lucky that way.

I wouldn't worry about not having an appendix.  Some say cooked meat hurts it.  Some say it's only for vegetable fiber.  I know from experience that when someone has any problem tolerating cooked meat, that raw meat winds up being the best nourishment.  In any case, I think you are safest with an RAF more or less paleo type diet with some fruit most likely.  I think you are exactly where it's best.

AV also said that the appendix is like a library for all chemicals that enter the body and if you remove it, every chemical has to be re-evaluated every time. This takes 24 hours.

Thank you very much for the info, guys. Sounds like I'm with this diet for the long haul now.  :)

Did he say it on the radio, in person or in one of his publications?  If someone has a harder time than others dealing with chemicals could it mean their appendix is functioning poorly?

He mentioned it in his DVD lecture, not only chemicals but every substance that enters the body gets evaluated  and it's faster if you have this "database".

I wonder where did he got this idea, because some people say the appendix has no function at all.

Thank you.  I'll look for it.

Most of us are lost as to figure out things like the appendix.  He seems to have a gift.  I don't think the gift was easy come by.
