What do you think of melon - honeydew, galia, canteloupe etc.?

They're all the same family as watermelons (Cucurbitaceae), and presumably are fairly closely related to plants that are very edible in their wild form..e.g. watermelon has sweet varieties found in the wild in Africa.

I find it's easier to eat melon and not crave more carbs, and also you can eat a lot as it's so much water and it satisfies.

Also it's easy on the stomach somehow...if I eat 2 apples it can make me uncomfortable sometimes.

They're all in gourd family. Melons, squashes, cucumbers, pumpkins, gourds (obviously), and chayote are all part of the family. One of the most paleolithic lot of fruits you'll find IMO.

Careful, many apples are coated with a "food grade wax" to maintain freshness. Even organic apples. Try to get apples without this wax coating.

How much do they cost there? they are fairly cheap here.

2 good sized cantaloupes sometimes 2 for $3, 2 for $6 at the most

Yah I get 15lb watermelons for like $5 out here in the summer.

I love melons of all kinds, but find that they are too intensively farmed so lack taste. I occasionalyl get really high-quality melons and the taste is so much better, it's amazing.

They gotta be overripe for me, so I buy them very cheap. They are at their best when their skin becomes squashy or even begins to rot with patches of mould, so they're very sweet and soft. I've got a few from my garden too and there's still some but I fear it's no longer warm enough for them to ripen. My watermelons will, hopefully.

I agree with this. Supermarket watermelons and cantaloupes are often flavorless around here. My parents have a CSA that does organic seeded watermelons and they are amazing. Getting a watermelon with seeds is nigh impossible here.

yes, i agree that most of the places where i live now it's rare to find seeded watermelons. but if you are lucky enough, you can see some street vendors selling seeded watermelons corner of a main road from ther own trucks. that's how i buy my melons. before my son was born, i used to cultivate huge seeded melons from all kinds.once even i sold my home, showing the huge delicious melons from my back yard. it was so much fun.

water melons are not good digestive food for human bodies. but it definitely good for weight lose or hydrating our system and far more better than our typical drinking water. you can consume the seeds of a melon for medicinal purpose and so does the skin. 

after my raw meat lunch, i do crave to eat some melons.

Wild water melons originate in Southern Africa.

Tiny, many seeds, less fruit than common domesticated variety.
Pretty much the same when comparing most wild vs domesticated fruits.

Melons with many seeds is your best bet. Similar to wild ancestor=Good
