Eating liver a lot more frequent?
« on: October 26, 2020, 02:58:30 pm »
Does anyone here have any experience of eating liver on a daily basis? 100-300 grams a day? I find that when I eat liver before sleep I have the best sleep I could possibly have, but I'm uncertain if it is a good idea. I have heard that feeding too much liver to a dog can cause loose stools.

I would be careful. Eating it every day in that amount can cause vitamin A toxicity, which can lead to many health problems. Detoxing VA is no fun. You could resort to other animal based foods if your body needs magnesium or copper. That might be the reason why you sleep so well.

Yes I have some experience with that. Grass-fed beef liver. I was a political prisoner for about 10 months and when I was released my family had a 27 lb grass-fed liver waiting for me. For two to three weeks I was eating between 1 and 3 lbs per day. But I also tacitly follow an instinctivore lifestyle and my body was absolutely craving it up until the end of the liver at which point I kind of felt I had my fill for a little while and moved over to muscle meat, suet, raw eggs and whatever else I had available at the time. I noticed no ill-effects and it made me feel so good it was almost like a drug. Euphoria, intense satiation, and a profound calmness, of course being freed and no longer treated like an animal was a big part of that as well obviously.

Regarding the dogs and loose stool it is more of how you introduce liver to a dog who hasn't had it in a while. My pack eats raw liver on the regular. But if for some reason they should go many weeks or months without it when I reintroduce it I must give them only a few bites the first time and then I can double the portion every day thereafter. But if I give them a large portion right off the bat it is almost guaranteed loose stool. And I have experienced the same thing for myself.

Thank you for the answer. It is interesting you mentioned magnesium. When I look up magnesium content in liver, all the sources I find put it as high as beef. I  listened to a interview with czofia Clemens from pkd. When she criticised carnivore diet for lack of organ meats. She went on to say that none of her patients had any experience with legs cramps and if you had magnesium deficiency you should eat liver. I know fitbit and chronometer and those sites are quite faulty with a lot of their information, but what is the true content of magnesium in liver? It has a very mineraly after taste, that I also get from eating wild blueberries.

Also what other animal foods are high in copper and magnesium that you would recommend eating frequently?

No wonder you were craving liver after eating prison "food" for ten months. After visiting my family on a Holliday for a week. The first thing I reach after is liver when I'm home again.
