Bots, spam, and paid advertising pretending to be something else has always existed. The problem with AI is that it's become increasingly difficult to distinguish it from real interaction.

Just like data storage and spying has always existed. The problem with AI is that it makes searching through that data and drawing accurate conclusions much less costly.
