Piperin from pepper and other useful spices.
« on: March 04, 2010, 09:07:39 pm »
How many of you know about piperine and it's benefits ?
http://www.naturalnews.com/024829_piperine_curcumin_black_pepper.html

I haven't used black pepper for some time but I should try it and see if it has any effect. It is said to increase nutrient absorption.

Another spice I know well is curcumin. I use curcumin every day and usually put it into coffee (I have curcumin and cinnamon mixed together). Curcumin really helps with my mind power :). It's like a small boost in IQ.

Anyone else using spices ? I think there are great health benefits behind some spices but I also understand that many of you are following strict RPD and therefore I greatly appreciate it if this thread is moved over in case of offtopic.

Ive done plenty if research of circumin but what form of it do you have? Most people just eat lots of tumeric. If its isolated I would be a little hesitant.

I've found that raw spices such as black pepper do speed up digestion but I reckon that means that fewer nutrients are absorbed from the food as a result, not less, given my own experience re stools.

It's pure curcumin. Curcumin is an extract? from turmeric and therefore many times more useful than turmeric.

I haven't noticed any difference in bowel movements after using pepper. From all the research I can find about piperin, it is noted that it improves nutrient absorption, making nutrients more bioavailable? . If it helps with nutrient absorption, doesn't that mean that colon absorbs as much as it can so the byproducts might be minimal as they already are on rpd.

Well I was just pointing out that eating more tumeric is just more of a natural attempt at getting circumin in your diet. I just dont believe in supplements.

Curcumin is sold only as a supplement ? I don't know where you are from but I have pack(32g) of curcumin in kitchen that is sold for 1$ in Estonia.

Some countries call tumeric by curcumin for whatever reason. Is it orange and do you just use it as a spice? Because if you do then its just tumeric.
