Hey everyone, I just read the book "Cure Tooth Decay" by Ramiel Nagel and got inspired to incorporate some raw meat into my diet to aid curing some tooth issues.

I had some freshly frozen lamb liver and ground beef defrosted so I wanted to experiment with those.

I started off by cutting up the lamb liver into thin slices and then covered the slices with lemon juice. I gave that a try and the taste was overwhelming and I ended up just swallowing it after a few bites. It tasted like a coin, like iron. Is this normal for lamb liver? I covered the rest and put in the fridge and now I dont know quite to do with it, any suggestions?

As for the ground beef there was a recipe in the book I read to mix together 4oz raw pastured butter, 1tbsp raw honey, and 1 tsp cayenne in a double boiler to keep the temperature low, and then add and mix in a lb of beef. This didn't taste good either to me, so I ended up lightly cooking it, still leaving it rare in the middle and that ended up tasting a bit better.

Am I screwing something up, or is this normal for perhaps the first time eating raw meat? Any suggestions?

Start with non frozen meat if possible, it usually tastes difference IMO.

lamb liver can have a stronger taste than beef liver, I ate some just yesterday. I only eat a little at a time along with my main meal. To much liver seems to cause lose stools for some.

I am curious about the book curing tooth decay, whats the main theory's behind its recipes. I haven't had a cavity since I quit brushing my teeth over 10 years ago. I have learned to not eat sweats and how to clean my mouth with saliva after every meal. I can feel my teeth remineralize, my molars will get a little gritty film from time to time and I know its some kind of regeneration

Great idea, I can see it as a side dish. Does it have an iron like taste to you as well?

There is not many recipes in the book, but he does go into detail about all types of food. That is awesome about not having a cavity for ten years. He doesn't advocate toothbrushing either, his main protocol for healing any type of tooth decay is nutrition. You clearly have a lot of fat soluble vitamins in your diet, and your calcium and phosphorus levels are in tune, so your teeth are mineralizing, instead of the opposite (like most people with grains and sugar in there diet and little fat soluble vitamins).

First of all.. Welcome!

I don't recommend heating the mix you shared, let it sit out until it gets to be about room temp. That is what I do.

I don't brush more than twice a week, unless I want to be squeaky clean. The cavities I once had are gone, only a few soft spots but I'm sure not for long.

I also recommend eating fresh not frozen.

Better to start getting used to raw muscle-meats first and then branch out to raw organ-meats later. You will eventually experience a taste-change c.8-12 months after going rawpalaeo(as long as you eat mostly rawpalaeo), and then you should be fine with most raw meats. Don't, however, expect to like all raw meats. I, for example, still loathe the taste of raw chicken, however organic,  even after 9 years on RVAF diets(though that might be due to the excessive grainfeeding of chickens etc.)

Some liver will still taste like metal from time to time, but I have also noticed that at some times I will crave it and other times I cant stand it. There are blander organs that you could try first, I ate some goat with goat heart and kidney last night and it was real good. Heart is a good organ to start with, I had some spleen that tasted like pure blood(although its hard to get unless you order it online), kidneys are mild if you can get past the taste of urine.

Tyler makes a good point. Like him (and our diets are completely different, if memory serves), I do not like the taste of raw chicken. I don't much like raw fowl in general, though I eat it very rare. You also may not ever like liver of any kind. I eat liver maybe once a year....a few bites I really like, then suddenly it tastes horrible to me.

But then I am VERY omni. I eat what appears to most to be raw vegan for 80-90% of my caloric intake most days...until I add the tataki or sashimi. Beef & a variety of fish mostly.

Have you been to a dentist yet? Sometimes it both feel and look a lot worse than what it is. If you decide to go, I think it's better to find a dentist-center that takes equipment and education seriously, not an old dentist who works by himself putting all the money in his own pocket instead of getting new knowledge and technology.

I thought my teeth problems was a lot worse than what they actually were and I'm really glad I went to the dentist cause all the dental problems I had was related to caries behind old fillings, nothing nature could have handled in my case I belive.

I started eating raw meat after reading cure tooth decay, and now that I've had the problems taken care of by a dentist I'm still keeping up raw paleo. I'm starting to feel so much better than I used to and not just the teeth.
