Niyog is our word for coconut that can be made into cream, the hard brown one.
We make coconut milk by having a machine or a tool shred the coconut meat.
Once shredded, add some water to it and start squeezing by hand.
In the wet market, they usually have a car jack as a machine press.
And a sieve. No blendering to make coconut milk.
A car jack?? Wow, great idea...
I guess that squeezing by hand is very inefficient.
It's really impossible to get high quality mature coconuts in europe. 99% are spoiled. :-(
But I can get frozen coconut shreds in some Asian supermarkets, very expensive, but better than nothing.
I wonder if coconut fat can replace saturated animal fats completely. What do you think?
