Foods That Do the Weight Loss For You

Recent research in the Journal of Nutrition suggests eating more fiber as a way to prevent weight gain or even encourage weight loss. Over the course of the two-year study, the researchers found that boosting fiber by 8 grams for every 1,000 calories resulted in about 4 1/2 pounds of weight lost.

Try it for yourself. If you're consuming 2,000 calories per day, aim to increase your fiber by 16 grams.

Fiber-rich foods that help do the weight-loss work for you:

1. A medium apple contains 4 grams of fiber
2. One cup of green beans boasts 4 grams of fiber
3. A medium-size baked sweet potato, skin included, offers 5 grams of fiber-for just 103 calories.
4. One cup of raspberries has 8 grams of fiber
5. One cup of strawberries has a respectable 3 grams of fiber
6. 3/4 cup of chickpeas has a whopping 8 grams of fiber
7. A cup of cooked pumpkin contains 3 grams of fiber

Recent??? This fallacious research has been going on for over half a century! What it overlooks is the relationship between carbohydrates, insulin, and fat-storage in the body. An obese person, who is already insulin resistant, would be harmed by the suggestion you posted, because those carbs would trigger the release of more insulin, thereby putting the body into fat-storage mode.

While switching to a high-fiber carb diet can cause short-term weight loss (due to elimination of refined carbs), long-term studies show no long-term net weight loss from eating this way.

    Fiber puts weight on me and fat takes it off.  If it seemed the other way around I'd be participating in a SAD or vegan forum instead.  I've been paying attention to which foods I ate for so long.  How old are you?  I had lived the vegan way in this life possibly longer than you have been alive. I've done it raw, cooked, you name it. Whose recent research?

    By the way, this is not a weight-loss forum. If you need to lose weight, fine.  Most here don't care about their weight at all.  This forum is more for health and personal experience of your own.
