So i'm making breakthroughs with this whole raw diet instinctive thing:

  • i've went from jail to honor-roll eligible studentli]
    • I'm a mentor for college and grade-school students
    • i'm making breakthroughs in my communication
    • i've become more passive and spiritual
    • i've forgone addictive substances(drugs, promiscuity)
    • did i mention i feel positive?

but this is after the jail sentence(8months) and trips to the mental hospital for my subsequent fasting and my personal "instinctive" behaviors: eating with my hands, meditations and periods of silence, long head and facial hairs, refusal to wear conventional deodorants and use shampoos and chlorinated water, and the BIG one: my DIET. ive yet to break out my hand at raw meat, but that might send him(my Pa) over the top. i was once the authoritarian in my household due to(in my mind) my fear of my dad's lack of assertion, financial troubles, and lack of socialbility. but after embracing my natural lifestyle, i am more passive and accepting of my father. instead of ignoring his advice, i take it. instead of overriding his decisions regarding the siblings, i support them. my only objection is my diet lifestyle, which i won't change. im in a tough situation because the more natural i become, the more passive i am to my father, my childhood idol. the flipside is he is more comfortable in treating me like i am five again, and makes threats to call the mental police if i don't change my ways to come take me away. the only problem is that im no longer 19 but 25, and slowly building a reputation within my community as a reliable citizen, and growing out of my dependence on my mother's guidance and  income. if he continues to oppose my growth and repeatedly institutionalizes me, i will never be able to support myself, and if i relapse into my old hiphop head tough guy mentality and try to dominate my childhood figure, i'll inhibit my own growth.  do any of you have perspectives on this story that you're willing to share? my mind is currently used up on avoiding the urge to eat processed foods and understanding re-awakened emotions(sensitivity towards others).

    thank you

Okay so cool, we've understood suet, tallow, and the fact that we're actually talking about fat. I'd hate to generalize, but what is the general response to eating fat raw or with raw meat? Ive had the experience with eating butter and cooked marrow, but assuming that butter is not something most animals would have access to, what should i expect from eating large amounts of fat(excluding butter whether grassfed, organic, etc)? if you want to specifically give different experiences with different fats from different areas of the body, cool. just feedback is what i would love please, ive understood the terminology

but raw fat, like suet or tallow, what are your experiences with eating it either mono or a significant amount with meat? I have yet to try anything but the thin pieces on steak or grassfed butter, so i would like to get an idea of the different reactions since I am still searching....

for organic fat....

I wrote you guys a four page letter but it got lost in the loading process. here's a summary:

Basically

KD is right

Dorothy is right

Iguana(Francois) is right as well

Everyone made valid points/arguments. "YOU are the guru!" <--that line will be stolen) but in all seriousness KD isn't wrong when he says that basic citation and/or scientific evidence should be submitted when people have the access to the right info, even just a tiny bit. Problem with the paleo community is that we are based off testimonials by gurus coming up with a brand name diet and not a learned professional(not that i claim they're better or preferred) because there is no industry or special interest behind raw organic foodstuffs compared to processed grain products to fund the research. so if you want to win over people similar to KD, you got to approach in a rational scientific manner sometimes.

Dorothy seems to be valid and its funny because KD is basically saying alot of what Dorothy is saying, but somehow missing each other's point

Iguana(Francois) is right on with the geiger counter example, and that nothing is concrete and everything is tentative. it can be inferred that by what both KD and Iguana seem to both agree on is this is a forum and that we are here to share experiences(usually in the case of a forum like this) and communicate so that we can come to a greater understanding about ourselves and our experiences on particular diets, which leads me to ask....

So how do you all generally feel when you eat fat mono? :)

Instincto / Anopsology / Re: Eating Locally?
« on: October 01, 2011, 10:30:32 am »
"locally" would be foods that have grown in that specific climate I would say. We can keep looking further into defining the word or, i can try to understand it with my young mind. i'll say maybe the food that grows in my geographical region is a weapon to fight whatever the weather has in store for me. in the desert, for instance, high-glycemic dates would be a way to keep light while quenching the thirst in a water-scarce environment. in the coastal tropics coconut water would be a fresh alternative to seawater. i dont pretend like i know, im just trying to find my way, like yourself bro. so basically i just try to eat things that come from areas with weather and climate patterns like mine. maybe it doesn't do anything at all but just make me feel good. maybe thats enough...for now.

Lucky you. If I had ease of access to organic grass finished meats or wild game(even better!) I would slow my consumption of these tropical fruit that come my way. Lately ive been eating only organic apples, but even they are probably grown outside this area. But you definitely make me feel motivated to try to a primarily carnivorous diet this winter, as nature intended me.

I live in Canada by the way

good luck!

Hey guys

Do you all tend to eat locally? And do you always find what you are looking for?  I have trouble sticking to a local diet mainly because its hard to find organic meat so I end up by some crazy tropical fruit for the sake of it being "organic". I was doing some water testing three feet deep in clothes on the river and then sat through a three-hour lecture in cold air conditioning. by the time i got home to my supermarket the only organic thing i could find was dates. a delicacy of mine, i stopped eating them for the sake of locality, i live in a humid climate, theres no need for dates, which must be the reason why i feel like they don't sit well everytime i eat them.

I'd love to hear your pitfalls to eating locally and how you cope if you do not experience any shortcomings in obtaining the right foods

Hello all

I'm happy to be able to learn so much from this forum that I decided to join you guys to ask my own questions. Not to waste time:

1.  What is your reaction to eating butter mono(by itself)? Did you find it pleasing or was there any displeasure? What was your analysis?

2.  How about raw suet or animal tallow?
A) What was your reaction and analysis of your body?
B) What exactly did you eat(before-hand and after also) and how was your energy level?
C) How much did you eat? And if you do so currently, how much do you usually eat?

Thanks for the feedback
