Hot Topics / Warm Breakfast in Fall
« on: November 03, 2011, 03:33:40 am »
Fresh from the farmer I had duck eggs, pastured pork bacon, pumpkin and chestnuts. I thought this makes an awesome breakfast for fall and I have enough food to last me for the next 12 days for breakfast.
Chestnuts are boiled, rest is fried in bone marrow for added fats and minerals.
Chestnuts sure make an excellent snack, too.

Primal Diet / Honey makes my throat raw
« on: October 28, 2011, 04:19:46 am »
So I've read that raw honey on a comb is supposed to be a healthy addition to a primal/paleo diet.
I'm not a big fan of honey and never have been but went ahead and bought my very first raw honey on a comb. The first batch was absolutely addictive, very awesome in taste, kinda bitter sweet and dark. Forward 5 days...the second however was so sweet I could barely keep it in my mouth. The 'wax' part turned into a hard candy and I had to spit it out. I gave half of this to my dog (he had a 2 foot long drool dangling off his lip watching me) because it was too sweet for me. It also gave me a raw, sore throat...wth was that all about?

Anyways, I think I'm done with honey once again in my life. Other than being hopped up on sugar I didn't really notice any benefits. As a kid the only honey I ever consumed came from forest/tree blossoms. American honey (even if raw) seems to mostly come from alfalfa or onion fields? Just awful in taste.

Raw Weston Price / Fish is helping me get off dairy
« on: October 23, 2011, 03:05:28 am »
When I asked how much milk everyone drinks, someone mentioned scallops for magnesium.
Needless to say I bought a ton of fish, including scallops, at a Co-op 120 miles from here and I absolutely LOVED the 'dry' scallops!!!
My fish products lasted about 6 days total, eating fish 2x a day...never felt better. The scallops tasted sweet, totally amazing!
I did not have a milk craving for the entire time of eating fish, even had 3 quarts of milk (out of 5) still sitting in my fridge by the end of the week.
As soon as I ran out of fish I craved sugar! WTH. I have binged on sugary stuff (raw honey, raw ice cream with maple syrup, fruit and back to raw dairy) ever since I ran out of fish and gained 4 lbs back, haven't had a bowel movement and am utterly bloated, GAH!

Next shopping trip I will load up on seafood like it's going out of style. Bought pork belly, a kidney and 2 fatty steaks today, too bad I'm outa duck eggs. 240 miles total for duck eggs is outragious! lol

But yeah, I am thinking that fish (especially scallops and other shell type seafoods) is going to make it possible for me to be weaned off dairy gently. Bone broth kills fish cravings, because the minerals are all present. Bone broth triggers milk cravings.
Fish kills dairy craving for whatever reason.
Milk feeds sugar addiction so it prevents you from raiding the kitchen.
If I eat fish and kill the milk addiction, I also won't need bone broth because fish has minerals and bone broth would kill the appetite for fish. Bone broth also seems to make me acidic and shortly after I crave milk.
I started my own journal so I can observe what the heck is going on and reading on these forums sure has helped to make a LOT of things more clear.
Ok, done ranting... ;D

Raw Weston Price / How much raw milk does everyone drink?
« on: October 09, 2011, 09:10:41 am »
I'm asking this question because I have a serious addiction LOL.
I was born prematurely, put in some artificial 'breeding machine' and fed stuff through hoses and tubes for the first 6 weeks of my life. I never had mother's milk.
I moved from central Europe to America when I was 23 years old and at the age of 39 found a local grass-fed raw goat milk farmer...yay!
My diet was sh*t pretty much my entire adult life, ya know after like age 12 or so when I got lunch money for school and my mother wasn't there to control what I shove down my throat.
My milk consumption is out of control, with no ill effects. I drink about 2-3 gallons of raw goats milk every week for the last 1.5 years. I can't stop. I crave it like mad and it feels nourishing. It's like something was missing my entire life and I'm finally getting it. It has tapered off some over the last 2 months though. I also ate liver (from whatever animal I could get it) for 8 straight months when I started eating Paleo/Primal. The liver cravings have stopped, the raw milk cravings are slowly going down, but are they ever going to stop completely?
I would love to stop drinking dairy all together because I'm afraid I'm getting some kind of imbalance from this massive milk consumption. Am I getting too much calcium that would make my bones brittle? Can I counter that with Magnesium pills?
And don't tell me to cut out milk cold turkey, I can't do it I've tried. By the 3rd day I'll turn wild, growl at people and piss on their car!
Many, many good benefits have come from drinking this raw milk, if only I wasn't so worried about this whole casein/calcium thing I'm reading everywhere.

How much milk is too much?
