Hot Topics / Re: TOO MUCH protein bad for kidneys?
« on: April 01, 2018, 10:00:21 am »
"Any protein more than 5-8% of the diet forces the "inactive and carb restricted" body to convert protein back to carbohydrate. This causes the release of nitrogen compounds, mainly Ammonia. Your liver is then burdened with transforming the ammonia to urea so that the kidneys can excrete it. That's one reason why vegetarians have so much more kidney reserve capacity when we're older.

Once the system of conversion is highly active, your body craves more protein "because the body is in survival mode and needs the protein to maintain blood glucose levels via gluconeogenesis." It's the same basic mechanism as drug addiction."

Meat has to be earned...

Interesting about the excess ammonia. Though I couldn't smell it on myself I would be able to smell it in my shower towels after awhile, and could not get rid of the smell so eventually had throw them away and buy new ones. I also used to get consistent lower back pain which seemed to be kidney related.

Yeah, I also got an incredible sense of smell from going fruitarian for 8 months or so some 20yrs ago. (books by Hilton Hotema) To this day my sense of smell has not diminished much, and yes it has its down side in that I can smell just about everything far too well.

Health / Re: How to Cure Erectile Dysfunction
« on: March 31, 2018, 03:20:18 pm »
I have been suffering erectile decline for the last 3 to 4 years now. As far as I can see it had 2 components, perhaps 3 if you take my age of 47 into account. First off my diet changed from AVP to full blown keto of a unhealthy kind. My skin aged noticeable, I started loosing my hair and my 'morning glories' died off to non existent - an indicator of poor health. My views of life changed and my relationship with my wife turned into 'passing ships in the night'.

In my search I started eating cooked foods and sugar again. A cupful of raisins gave me many morning hard-ons. Very unsustainable on account of the fructose. Mushrooms didn't seems to make any difference either. Sabertooth mentioned something about enzymes which gave me an idea to try pineapple as it has loads of them and I figured that it would help fire up my digestion which only ever smoldered away; nothing like the blazing furnace I had experience with AVP diet.

That morning at 3am I was woken by the hardest morning glory in years, and they have been consistent since then. Some further research lead me to N0 (nitric oxide) and the difference between supplementation(haven't supplemented as I wanted to solve this through my diet) and natural. Pineapple has some NO though lettuce, celery, beets, bok choy and cress have more.

Coming to terms with a mid life crises, attempting a more amenable relationship with my wife and the ace of the pack -Pineapple- have brought me back from the brink.

I highly recommend having a serving of pineapple. Or try some other food with high amounts of NO if you can tolerate it. It has been a few weeks now with consistent erections though not of the same callibre as say 4yrs ago.

Health / Re: weakening eyesight

LittleElefant,  because they are both high in salisylates. If you have a salisylate sensitivity then they can only be problematic. They can cause blurry vision along with an array of other symptoms.

In my case coconut cream makes me mildly nauseous, but the oil makes me feel positively ill. Avocados will effect me the next day with a general weakness and black streaks running from the corners of my eyes. Egg yolk is somewhat o.k. though the whites will cause severe stomach cramps, shortness of breath and sweats. I find fish doesn't have much to offer and leads to a slight weakness in the body. Pineapple seems to be good for the enzymes.

I am having problems with my vision too so will be experimenting a little. Pineapple with every meal and foods that will produce SCFA, such as small amounts of mushrooms, and homemade pickles. I may even try a table spoon of oats or barley - we will see.

Just a thought - have you tried gazing or looking at the horizon with unfocused vision ( or staring onto space) for say 10min a day. to take the pressure off the eyes from constant focusing on every distraction ( a type of visual multitasking) One can focus on fewer things during the day while still remaining aware peripherally.

Try raw mince and egg yolk for breakfast.
Rib eye steak w/without a glass of raw cream or table spoon of raw butter for dinner.
Blue berries and blood or cream for desert.

Juices and fermented veg on a separate day for cleansing.

Try omitting coconut products and avos.

I have noticed a correlation between high protein and hazy vision as well as between veg juice and hazy vision.

Separate building foods and cleansing foods.

Health / bloodshot eyes
« on: February 04, 2018, 03:03:10 am »
I thought I may supplement to this old thread as it bears relevance to my experience yesterday.

I have recently gone raw paleo again, eating rib eye steak and milk keffir. Yesterday I got it in my head to try some processed fat in the form of mascarpone. I woke up with a blood shot scratchy eyes. I wasn't sure what to do for the rest of the day. As it hadn't improved by evening I decided to try eating a punnet of blueberries and raw cream. Within 5 minutes I felt some relief so I had another punnet with cream. This morning all the pain is gone along with the redness. I also have this oddly intense clear focus - like I have eagle vision.

The associations I have build over the years with bloodshot eyes is excess in eating the wrong carbs(probably the milk keffir in this case though the onset seemed linked to the mascarpone), lack of carbs and somehow a lack of oxygen in the eye. Usually it is only one eye that goes red.

I stopped raw paleo 5yrs ago on account of dry aging skin especially on my legs and face and the onset of rosacea. The capilaries in my cheeks and nose would bust and the the skin peal. A pore on the side of my nose where an old girlfriend had squeezed a black head became inflamed and would peal every 3/4 days and if I scratched it it would bleed excessively.

It took me along time to figure out that it was the keffir that was the problem. Even today I get very heavy legs from eating it, so I have dropped it in the realization that it seems to cause some sort of histamine response.

Perhaps the bloodshot eye is in response to free radical damage or excessive histamines or salycilates. It seems to depend on what you eat and the relation that carbs have to it.

In my view find the carb responsible and treat for oxidative stress.

General Discussion / Re: Raw Paleo Honey / Honeycomb / Grubcomb
« on: June 10, 2015, 04:59:28 pm »
Maybe that honey was partially made by the bees from sugar water instead of nectar. I don't know if there's enough nectar yet in your area for the bees to be off sugar water completely.

I think that it is quite possible that it was. I bought half a kg of comb honey from another supplier, and after a spoonful have not touched it since. The impression left with me is that they feed there bees glucose.
I got another batch from my previous supplier and it is very, very moorish.

Also, one thing to keep in mind when having an adverse reaction is the honey may be contaminated by nectar from flowers toxic to humans.

Exercise / Bodybuilding / Re: What is the concensus on the Sauna?
« on: April 07, 2015, 02:33:09 pm »
I have been using my near infrared sauna everyday for a month now and 3 times a day the last 4 days as I have a sore throat, lots of phlegm  and snotty nose.

At the outset it took about 10 days before I started sweating well. Initially I just got hot and red. Now the sweat runs like little rivers all over my body. I top up with fluids, lemon juice, msm etc. My legs have also just started sweating which is a good sign.

The most interesting things about the effects of this sauna is this; Many years ago I got anew concoction tetanus shot, which I really regretted as I could not lift my arm for a week afterward. My health also deteriorated in a noticeable but subtle way - more to do with sensation of well-being and power in my body. The arm I got the shot in would not sweat for about 2 weeks whilst my other arm was. After it started sweating the area that I got the injection in became red and developed a sore. Eventually it pealed and has since healed.

Also, my skin has become softer and mildly oily as all the toxins in the skin dissipate.

I think a NIR sauna is a good addition to any lifestyle, along with ice baths afterwards or between multiple, consecutive saunas. I built my own with 4 NIR bulbs, a piece of ply, wiring, a frame and some old bedsheets.

HI all.

I too  noticed that I could eat raw honey on the comb without getting any high blood sugar reactions. When I could not get hold of any comb I tried the best raw liquid honey with very negative results - I wouldn't recommend any liquid honey . The comb defininitely makes a difference. And the best part of the comb is the darker more caramel looking part. It is a bit strange that when I see this my eyes want to feed on it and I get a little excited. So rich, so good - nothing can beat that in the world of rich sweetness.

I also feel that it cleans my teeth as I chew on it. I may swallow a tiny bit, removing most of it after sometime; maybe 10 minutes.

Are you aware that Manuka honey is pasteurized? Google airborne.co.nz for good NZ honey, though comb honey is out of stock at the moment.
