I agree it's likely I have that sort of problem goodsamaritan, and I'll follow your suggestions and have a look at trying some of those things, but I will continue to do only what makes me feel good, as I have done so far. Not worth getting myself down about it though in the mean-time and sticking doing something that isn't working for me. If I try some of these things and I feel like it's worked, then I'll happily try eating more raw foods again and see if it was successful.

A big problem has been a lack of money, which has made it hard for me to try different things, meaning I'm likely to get stuck in a rut for a long time... but I'm starting to get more money now which is making it easier to experiment.

Haven't eaten raw meat in a few months, except once/twice, or where I didn't cook meat all the way through; and not much raw plant either. I can't digest raw meat well. I try to balance though, cooking to allow me to digest it, but not overcooking and destroying nutrients. If I cook it too much my teeth ache and my eyes feel tired; if I leave it raw my digestion grinds to a halt, I feel on the edge of nausea until I eat enough plant food to push it through, and can get some itching/eczema too. An example is I'll preheat the oven to 250C, put in the meat for a few mins and then let it drop to 100C and leave it there until it's cooked through, ~50mins for the slab I just did.

Eating lots of boiled/steamed veg too, with sea salt and rendered fat/butter. Had some sourdough bread a few times too, with butter; and rice with salt, spices and olive oil a few times. I always drink the water from the boiled veg/steamed veg, or make it into a stew.

Things I've been having raw are some lettuces, celery and cucumbers.. O'course, would have milk, fruit, honey etc raw but I've not had those much, just some honeycomb once in the last few months.

I've just decided not to be fixed on anything, just to try anything I feel might benefit me in the moment - trying pretty much everything in the organic store in my town. After overcooking my meat one night(tried steaming), I undercooked it the next night, and then got it just right today. I didn't eat any meat for a week and I forgot how to do it right >.>

Been working on an organic farm the last month as well, and going to start a 1-2 year apprenticeship early next year.

Didn't say this until now, because as I said, I never decided to stop raw paleo or anything, I've just been trying some stuff and continued to do what worked. I will continue to try new things anytime I feel like it. Of course I stuck with raw paleo initially because I found it very beneficial compared to what I was doing before it, as I had found what I did before that(a crappy cooked semi-paleo)  beneficial in comparison to what I did before that. It just happens that I've moved on again.

In the beginning I only found that the digestion was slow, but it was always complete and I never felt any problem with it, just that it took a long time - and otherwise I felt great, infinitely better than I had at any other time before it. However at some point my digestion just couldn't handle it any more and I started to get the problems I mentioned, so I tried cooking some and now it's all good again - because of what I've learnt on this forum and eating raw paleo.

I'd still try any quality meat raw, I've got no problem with that, it's just that I've been preferring it cooked. This is just my own case I'm talking about, not applying it to anyone else or to rpd. Rpd is great, it has helped many people including myself, and people are eating it for decades and doing great. It has had no lasting negative effect on me, only positive, and I still consider myself no different to when I was eating rpd, and will continue to check in on this forum for the great information, and will always see raw meat/veg as the food, even if I do cook it for myself to make it easier to digest.

Off Topic / Re: Ron Paul for President of the USA
« on: November 21, 2011, 06:35:07 am »
I think Ron Paul is right that the USA cannot afford to maintain its policy of foreign interventionism and global policeman forever.

Who are global policemen? That's just psyops stuff.

The invasions etc are about maintaining power, it's proactive defence. Securing oil and other resources, whilst keeping down possible threats before they become dangerous. Oil is stored energy, it allows nations to do things much faster, and if the USA and allied nations didn't have it then someone else would. The USA can't just hide behind its walls, or it will suffocate whilst other nations become stronger.

Only if there is a near global-empire can the wars end.

The other alternative to a global empire is that most of the people in the world become enlightened, and come to feel connected as one people.

Why has there never been a powerful nation who's leaders told the truth to its people? Can it work? Enlightened people should have even more support for wars than Sheeple...

Haha omfg I almost uber-failed. I don't care about grammatical errors, but what I do love is re-correcting people who falsely correct other people.

I was going to write that Eveheart's correction of Tyler's "Peoples'" was incorrect and that he was right. Glad I realised quickly enough to remove that post before anyone saw xD I was so eager to do it that I blundered in without really thinking about it. It's late.

Perhaps less easily digestible foods are not  a problem if one has the right gut micro-organisms. Probably in fact.

Would be better to just eat foods one can digest in the first place.. Still, if it works then it's a good thing to know if you end up in that situation, but certainly not a long-term solution..

Poop doesn't just generate from nothing, so if one is continually having such problems, continuing to produce messy phaeces, then past a certain quantity one is clearly still eating inappropriately.

'aided natural selection' what are you on about? Making fire is like making tools, making clothes, making weapons, making and setting traps, storing water in gourds, firing bows and throwing spears; as well as ability to use language, ability to trade, and to get on well with a group . People who weren't capable of doing these kinds of things would not have done very well at passing on their genes...

Tyler is talking specifically about natural selection for physical prowess.

Using fire, tools, weapons, clothes etc have allowed less physically able individuals to survive, yes... But it also favoured those who were better able to use these things - better mentally able. It was still natural selection, just for things more and more relating to the brain over the rest of the body.

Of course, civilisation allows people to survive who are neither physically nor mentally able, but that's a different matter.

Couldn't you just chest-press with dumbbells rather than relying on a spotter to bench? Dumbbells use more stabilisiing muscles and offer greater ROM anyway.

Miles, would you please direct us (if possible) to where you got the information of excema being caused by fungus on the skin?

One would think that if what you are saying is true that coconut oil (which is a fungacide) might be particularly helpful. If sun bathing is during the day, perhaps the oil can be put on at night?

There are funguses that live in the intestines and are perfectly normal too. Has the particular fungus been identified?

You clearly didn't read or understand my post, which I explained very thoroughly. Of course the fungus is normally in the intestines, as it is normally on the skin... But when you do not digest your food properly, you have food undigested sitting in your intestines, and the fungus grows so much eating your undigested food that it starts to become a problem. The body therefore creates substances to attack the fungus, however the attack is body-wide, not limited to the intestines, and therefore attacks the skin where this fungus is also naturally present...

The way to stop the rashes on the skin is to stop the body from attacking the fungus, which means stopping eating foods which you can't properly digest.

If you had no fungus on your skin, then you would not get the rashes. But, the fungus will always be on the skin, because it's in the air. The problem is not caused because you have the fungus in your intestines either, because it's always there, it's in the air and on your food. The problem is caused because an ever-present fungus has proliferated too much within your intestines, due to undigested food, and is causing problems. If you are not digesting your food, then micro-organisms in your intestines will.

This is fact.
_______________

GS has said that his son had pockets of messy stools interspersed with 'tidy' stools. I predicted that his son would have messy stools during the time when GS said his son has not had a bowel movement for days. Undigested food, which comes out as 'messy' stools, is difficult for the intestines to move by peristalsis, hence constipation. Food passes through the digestive system in the order it was eaten. The 'tidy' stools are from food which was digested properly, and the 'messy' stools are from food which wasn't. This undigested food is a breeding ground for fungus, which is what is causing his son's eczema.

Eczema is the body attacking fungus on the skin. The fungus is ever-present however, so the body cannot win. The process of attacking the fungus damages the skin, and as the fungus cannot be eliminated, the skin condition will continue to become worse until the body stops trying to kill the fungus on the skin.

The body is attacking fungus on the skin, because of a body-wide attack on fungus. The reason the body is attacking fungus is because there is an over-growth of fungus in the intestines. The reason there is an overgrowth of fungus in the intestines is because food is not being properly digested and absorbed.

If one's faeces has a high moisture content(e.g. is runny or messy), this is evidence that food has not been properly digested and absorbed. This is likely to be accompanied by a feeling that ones digestive system is not moving along by itself, because it is difficult for the intestines to eliminate food which has been improperly digested and absorbed.

Therefore, to stop the eczema, one must eat foods which they can properly digest and absorb, and thus properly eliminate.

Despite its draw-backs, good cooking can make foods, plant and animal, easier to digest and absorb. Since your son's eczema sounds very bad, I would advise that you be open-minded in this regard. I think that if you were to feed him cooked starch-foods, fully cooked but not at all burnt meat, and raw herbs/salad etc, with the starch always coming earlier in the day than the meat, that his stools would become solid and his eczema disappear or at least drastically reduce in severity.

I would advise that you pay close attention to how he feels, remembering that the root cause of the eczema is improperly digested food. Anything that causes messy excretions and cessation of bowel transit, therefore, will also be contributing majorly to the eczema.

Raw food is better in many ways, but if you can't properly digest and absorb it, then you will need to either: Find a way to strengthen your digestive system; cook your food; find some other way to pre-digest it; or put up with poor digestive transit, intestinal fungal overgrowth and the accompanying conditions(such as eczema, itching and dandruff).
___________________

Regarding gunk and toxins... Much gunk, and many toxins, are produced by 'bad' micro-organisms in the intestines, eating one's improperly digested foods. The micro-organisms produce these toxins to kill other micro-organisms and save as much of the food for their own species - which can handle the specific toxins they produce better than any others, and therefore they thrive in it. A lot of these toxins can then be absorbed into the blood and make one feel ill. The urine of the person in question will then likely smell bad and they will become dehydrated as their kidneys eliminate these toxins, and as water is flooded into the intestines to attempt to eliminate the improperly digested food, which cannot easily be moved along by normal contraction of the intestines.

I'd really appreciate it if someone would remind me of the term for the oscillatory intestinal contractions which move food along, as it's slipped my mind at present.

Cro-magnon is the name of some place in France where 'they' found ancient remnants of modern man - homo sapiens. So cro-magnon is just a term for the early homo sapiens in Europe. i.e. Cro-magnon = Homo sapiens.

Neanderthals, or Homo Neanderthalensis are the homonids who colonised Europe prior to the cro-magnon. Homo sapiens evolved in Africa through a genetic bottleneck due to extreme drought. These homo sapiens then existed there for 10s of thousands of years with little advancement, until there was an explosion in technology despite no actual physical changes occurring - most commonly attributed to development of complex language.

Prior to this explosion there is evidence of homo sapiens moving towards Europe through the middle east but falling back to Africa. The explosion in technology allowed homo sapiens to survive and thrive in Europe, where previously only the hardy Neanderthals were able to survive. It's thought that the Neanderthals were then out-competed and out-bred by the homo sapiens but likely contributed some DNA through interbreeding.

No, a man has to ejaculate like a woman has to let the blood out when she has a period.

For a man to fast from ejaculation is like when you're bursting for a pee at the cinema watching a good film.

In nature if a woman has sex she is pregnant for 9months, so she has to choose the man well. That's why their sexual urges are different to a man's.

Some women get more sexual urges when they get older(around 40), but this is because they are moving away from their sexual peak, becoming less like women and more like men. They are also less likely to get pregnant.
