I think an irrigator with warm salty water would help.

edit:  OHHHH MAN, CHOCOLATE CAKE.. I WANT IT SO BAD.. a nice warm melty moist thick milk chocolate cake with a fat layer of milk chocolate frosting and melty chocolate chips with chocolate shavings on top and some deliciously sweet and creamy raw milk to wash it all down, oh man if all that was set in front of me right now I would eat it all in an instant.. I think I'm PMSing.. at least the cravings part.

ROFL that was funny.

There is a cheese called raw mozzarella that is more like pasta.

PaleoPhil,

Everything you contribute will be acknowledged. We will have a list of authors in Chapter Owners and we can extend that to include paragraph owners too.

I would like the book be available to all though.

I wouldn't mind helping.   :)

Pick a chapter and let's go. ;)

Maybe we can exchange ideas over chat. We have to schedule a specific time because of the timezone difference.

Anyone actually noticed any benefits/differences from eating fertilized eggs instead of infertile eggs?

Benefits no, but differences yes. I like the taste of fertile organic eggs over the others.

Well, I mix meat and milk all the time :). It is fermented into kefir, so maybe there is a difference.

That pdf does not distinguish from fermented milk, pasteurized or raw.

Good idea with the sticky topic. Will someone make it sticky?

I created 3 public documents for the book (anyone can edit):

# Main collaborative document
http://tinyurl.com/26hakjg

# Chapter Owners (complete your username)
http://tinyurl.com/2dza852

# Additional Suggestions document
http://tinyurl.com/28wzc5d

It would be great if the links would be in the first post as well.

This book can easily be done in a collaborative way and it does not have to be 10000 pages long, covering all aspects of human history. It is intended to capture the essence of RPD so that a newbie does not need to browse through endless topics to find the basic stuff.

All we have to do is each pick a chapter and at least make a short sketch of it. I mean just the principal ideas and a short description. Next we can develop them and put them together in a meaningful way.

If you have just an idea that you think should go into any of the listed chapters, just write it here and we could integrate it. Have you seen the movie Inception? :).

So, who wants to pick a chapter, there is a limited stock offered  ;).

I'll pick the Preface.

PS: we can use Google Docs to centralize these ideas.
PS2: I was thinking of a catchy title, like "RPD The Forgotten Secrets"  :)

General Discussion / Raw Paleo collaborative book
« on: August 14, 2010, 04:17:09 pm »

Hey,

Let's create a Raw Paleo collaborative book.

It could be the first thing a newbie could read and it would save a lot of repeated Q&As.
Also it could serve as a centralized wiki that gathers all our common ideas in a structured way so that we can all quickly revise them, refine them, etc.

Write here your ideas about how it should be formed, which chapters to include or whatever you think it could be useful.

Here is my quick suggestion for a chapter listing:
0. Preface (why the book was written, research methods)
1. Introduction (brief description of RPD, how it came to be, story)
2. Cooked vs raw arguments
3. Why Neolithic foods are bad for us
4. Different RPD flavors
5. Food storage, best practices
6. Food combining and mono-eating
7. General guidelines about certain foods
8. Warnings about certain foods
9. Action plans and important notes
10. RPD Recipes (with pics!)
12. The Raw Paleo lifestyle (advice on how to deal with society etc)
# Appendix
# Glossary
# Resources
# Bibliography

raw-al,

can you post links, so we know who these things look like? Is the food processor set to minimum speed?

A good 'sunscreen' is coconut oil.

I also discovered it's good after you burn as well. My skin still pealed after a while, but at least it did not hurt.

By the way, do you know any natural treatment for age spots caused by sun exposure?

I got a few on the back after several serious burns and I wonder if yanking them with a knife works.

Which of the raw beef organs are the tastiest?
I'm thinking of trying some.
Which are gross?
Which are the most fattening?

In my opinion it's the heart (but I have not tried them all).

Liver seems gross to me atm.

It stated that the plague that killed two thirds of Europe could be developed into a bio weapon that no one has immunity to, ...

About the Black Plague, Aajonus claims that it was caused by burning coal inside homes. I tend to agree with that.

"Burning coal also releases other toxic compounds such as various types of mercury, an element harmful to human health."

Manuka Honey = Over-hyped honey

I'm sure that if they found some other plant with superpowers, the honey from it would contain superpowers as well.

If you have to eat 3 times a day, go for fruits in the middle.

Maybe mix in an avocado to have some fat as well.

Most people that occasionally break the raw diet are fine. Try the least processed food possible.

I mostly avoid water and drink kefir or vegetable juices.

That hormesis water sounds good. If you try it and get positive results, let me know.

I suggest reading this about the fuels used by animal organisms.

http://www.unisanet.unisa.edu.au/08366/index.htm

This might not be the whole story but is an important basis everybody here in this forum should be aware of.

In the article about ATP there is this statement:

"Skeletal muscle converts chemical energy to mechanical energy with high efficiency (only 30 - 50% waste)."

What does that mean? What is the chemical energy composed of? What is that 50% waste?

Hot Topics / Re: The Sweetest Poison of All - Sugar Blues summary
« on: August 03, 2010, 09:00:23 pm »
I only read that summary, but what convinced me was the presentaion of Dr. Lusting on  youtube entitled "Sugar The Bitter Truth".

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBnniua6-oM

I think this "light addiction" can disappear completely if you go past the 30 days mark with no sugar.

Committing to do that is another story. I remember when I decided I'm going to quit eating bread... that very day I ate a LOT of it. It was as if my body thought it should stock up on it.

My theory (partially confirmed by experience) is that women have a lot more trouble quitting sugar than men because they instinctively try to keep more fat storage, and that's an easy way to do it.

King Salmon,
I wrote about fruits helping with fat digestion (AV's view), not about meat.

Anyway, I don't think they are essential for fat digestion unless a person is unhealthy and lacks enzymes or some other thing.

Lex,

What about the notion that alcohol can help with fat digestion? What do you think about that?

Is it possible that we also consumed carbs to help break down fat?

Aajonus claims that this is one of the reasons to eat fruits (carbs).

Apparently there is a type of swimwear that allows tanning, if you're too civilized. I think it should allow UVB too.

Update: I don't like those berries. They are way too astringent.

I got some some that looked ripe and they still don't taste good.
