About the tribe, I think it could be one of these:

Now anyone care to go there and check them out?  :)

General Discussion / Re: Sashimi knife for raw meat?

hmm, I think I'm going to get a ceramic knife because right now I have to freeze the meat in order to cut it into little pieces.

And he said he met a primitve tribe in the philipines that just ate coconuts, raw fish and some fruits and that they were big like gorillas and that they lived up to 147 years old.

I listened to a radio interview in which he mentions this.

How does he know they lived up to 147 years old? I don't think they are registered anywhere?

Most probably he just asked one of them how old they are and they asnswered something like "oh, I'm 147, but who's counting..."

cool, but the will not last you very long and you will probably have no fridge there :).

The ideea is to find out what food do you consider to be the most essential.

I think I would bring some honey.

If you had to live on a deserted island and only bring only one type of food, what would it be?

I think it's for the same reasons we started eating any other junk food. Curiosity, addiction, etc.

I'm not 100% converted to this (yet?), but after reading this blog I noticed people had some 'healing crisis' and I would not like that at all:

I imagine you would spend a lot of time this way.

Scott Wheeler mentions in his blog the "worm farm" and he seems really big on the primal diet.

Maybe the carnivores in the wild practice coprophagia because they can not prepare their own "high meat".

General Discussion / Re: Raw eggs: whites and yolks.
« on: October 18, 2009, 06:34:52 pm »
I usually eat the yolk with maybe a teaspoon of the white and discard the rest.

This is what a PhD says about the avidin levels:

"Dr. Sharma, PhD, who is a biochemist with Bayer, contacted me about this issue. His investigation into the matter revealed that there is not enough biotin in an egg yolk to bind to all the avidin present in the raw whites. He found that 5.7 grams of biotin are required to neutralize all the avidin found in the raw whites of an average-sized egg. There are only about 25 micrograms -- or 25 millionths of a gram -- of biotin in an average egg yolk."

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2005/02/09/raw-eggs.aspx

It would be nice to see a comparative study with unfertilized and fertilized eggs.

had a few gray hairs.  They went away after eating a lot of butter.
...

How much is a lot of butter to you? I had periods where I'd eat as much as half a pound of butter a day and still have those few white hairs (which stand out because the rest is black).

Air pollution.
Their dwelling places were lit with seal oil lamps which quickly blackened the snow walls; lungs would have been likewise blackened.

Interesting point about air pollution, I didn't know that. Still, there would have been other tribes that were eating healthy in parts of the world where they didnt smoke themselves, right?

Maybe Weston Price discovered some.

Also Aajonus said that after 5 hours of not eating the we start loosing red blood cells and he only sleeps like 4 hours a day. This is the first time I heard such a thing... and it does not make sense. I followed the warrior diet (eating once a day) and felt really good in that period. I read somewhere that gene expression should start at 40 hours mark or longer.

I also wonder how come the Inuit do not live for like 500 years if they eat this supper high meat food...

Yes, but if you live in a city with little sunlight I think you probably need at lead some vitamin D.

Maybe I bought into dr Mercola's theory on this vitamin and I still take some fish oil from time to time.

From the interview these points seem to be more interesting:

1. Lubrication Formula for building muscle (Blend : butter, egg, honey, lemon). The principle seems to be "lots of fat". I wonder if it works better than "gomad".

2. He says gray hair is caused by free radical minerals (especially Aluminum). But it seems he also has gray hair...
"eating lots of raspberries with coconut cream and a little butter helps get read of Aluminum"

Anybody tried them?

@cherimoya_kid: he does not recommend calcium supplements like calcium oxide, citrate etc saying that our body can manufacture calcium anyway if we give it the proper elements. What would natural magnesium supplements be? (pumpkin seeds, cocoa?)

And zappers actually are supposed to kill mostly viruses. This seems to go against the belif that viruses are actually a good thing. I have some trouble generalising that all viruses are good though...

@Furion: I wonder what "poor physical condition" means to him? He does not seem week from the youtube videos...

I read some comments from the link you provided and there are two things that I'm would not do:

- "worm farm" - There has to be a way around that. I dont immagine me doing that in the future.
- consuming lots of dairy - I can only get raw butter but cant eat a lot of it (dont like the taste). I also got "dermatitis seborreica" this summer while doing a "gallon of milk a day" experiment, which stopped ater I quit all dairy for a while. The milk was pasteurized though.

General Discussion / Re: How much sleep do you get a night?
« on: October 12, 2009, 03:31:28 pm »
I belive that in order to reduce sleep time one could pursue some type of mental training.

"Time distorion" comes to mind... I'm not sure if that is effective on the long term but some people claim they sleep 3 hours a day and they are fine.

I dont have that skill and I sleep 5-8 hours a day unsually.

@cherimoya_kid: how do you know that "dried fruit and nut butters" has made the vegans ill? I would think it would have made him ill as well... unless he doesn't actually eat them

@van: you are right about the marketing thing. I listened to his longevity program and he lists a ton of herbs and all of them are "the best ever". The thing is, all those herbs have a long tradition for healing people (in their specific countries) of all kinds of things so there could be some truth in there.

I will list the main points from that program because I'd like to have some second opinions and hear some actual experience if possible.

Mostly I wonder about these things:
1. Calcification - he says it actually precedes all disease and it's also the cause of aging (some other people say it's insulin resistence, low DHEA). For that he recommends Zeolites, MSM, Fulvic acid and some other stuff (calcium supplements are not recommended);
2. He recommends connecting to the earth by touching it with the bear feet or holding a grounded wire;
3. Medicinal mushrooms fight candida - he lists some weird names here but mostly are the ones that grow on trees like Chaga etc;
4. Zappers - are supposed to kill parasites.

Have you had any experience with some of these? What do you think about them?

Maybe all the things that he does (which he calls longevity technologies) work for him or maybe it's just one thing that makes it work. He seems to be into a lot of stuff actually.

I have to say, for the short term at least, when I stoppend taking calcium suppliments but only went with magnesium, I felt better and I had no more muscle cramps after training. So he may be on to something with that good calcium - bad calcium thing.

As for me:
I do try to eat more raw food, including meat, butter, eggs, fruits but I make exceptions because in social situations I dont want to explain every time that "I'm trying this new thing now etc". I was eating more processed foods a few months ago than I eat now.

@ richard: cocaine? - no. I mean this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U90-FK0sePg

I only found cocoa powder here by the way.

Hello all,

While I agree that eating animal meat and fats is a good ideea, I cant shake the feeling that some people may be more optimised to eat fruits or vegetables. What do you think about that?

I mean, look at David Wolfie. He seems really vibrant and helthy. Or, is it because he does a lot of cocoa (or cacao) and other medicinal plants?

So far I noticed that after consuming some raw butter I dont dont feel cold most of the time anymore.
