Off Topic / Why is my cat overweight?
« on: May 19, 2017, 06:26:47 am »
My cat is 7 years old, and she has been eating a raw meat diet for 5 years now. Before that she ate organic grainfree kibbles. She got sterilized at 7 month old, and she gained a lot of weight shortly after that. I thought she would lose some weight when she started on raw meat, but she hasnt lost anything. I feed her only organic or wild meat, fish, liver and other organs, and i supplement with crushed bones and some vitamins and minerals. She is moderately active, i think, and i walk her once or twice a day. She only gets about 6 or 7 small cat kibbles every day as a snack, and she dont even want anything else. She eats 1-3 times a day, and i dont really think she eats very much. Some days she barely eats anything at all. I got another cat that is not overweight and he eats almost twice as much as her. I dont think its a good solution just to feed her less, then she will walk around meowing and looking for food, and maybe she will run away to other peoples gardens to look for food, i know some people have crap cat food in their gardens. I didnt think you would have to count calories on a raw meat diet, especially because she already eats very little. Is it just because she is sterilized? Her metabolism must be extremely low. But if i just feed her less, then will she get enough calcium and other nutrients? It irritates me when people say "you're really feeding that cat well! It looks like she is pregnant!" and things like that! She weighs 6,5 kg, and i would guess her normal weight is about 5,5 kg or so. Besides of that she is a healthy and happy cat, that can still play and run and everything.

Health / Enough vitamin K without vegetables?
« on: December 20, 2013, 07:51:37 am »
I dont tolerate vegetables well, and I know that the green vegetables are full of antinutrients. I dont like them very much either, so I rarely eat them. I know there are different K vitamins, and that K1 mainly comes from green vegetables, and K2 comes from animal sources. When I look at nutritional data, I get very little K1, and I am wondering if I get enough? Do you even need that much vitamin K1? Is it exaggerated? IMO humans are only supposed to eat very little vegetables, if any, and many people seem to live fine without them.

Health / Does freezing destroy the milk fat?
« on: February 27, 2013, 04:19:34 am »
Raw milk is illegal to sell where i live, so it was really difficult to find some. But i did, and now i have frozen some. But it gets a little grainy, and i dont care about that, unless it means the fat is destroyed? Do you know why it becomes grainy?

Health / Eat right for your bloodtype?
« on: April 17, 2012, 02:37:12 am »
I have read the book "Eat right for your bloodtype" written by D'Adamo and I follow it most of the time. At first I thought it sounded stupid, but actually when I read the book it really made sense. Im type 0, and according to the book type 0 should eat food that corresponds with the paleo diet. Type A should eat mostly vegetarian food with just a little meat. Type B can eat a lot of different things, and so can type AB. I have heard people having problems with arthritis like symptoms when they eat tomatoes and red bell peppers. I eat a lot of that and feel fine eating it, and he also writes in the book that blood type 0 have no problems with that, but some of the other types have.

Do you believe in the bloodtype diet? Are there others that follow the book?

Health / Does butter need to be raw?
« on: April 15, 2012, 04:27:19 am »

Health / Cant tolerate the sun/getting burnt
« on: April 12, 2012, 06:25:07 pm »
I have a very pale skin, and every summer I always get burnt in my face. It's only my face. I get very red, and then it disappears and my skin is pale again, and then I get burnt again. So I can't be out in the sun for very long, and I try to avoid it for the most, though I know that sunlight is healthy. I used to use sunblockers, but they didn't work very well, and I don't want them because they are not healthy. I have started eating some raw food, but i'm not yet 100% raw paleo, but I will be. Do you think it will help my skin to tan? Does anybody know about that?

Health / Anti nutrients in vegetables and seeds?
« on: January 02, 2012, 03:18:42 pm »
I have read about anti-nutrients in vegetables, but also in fruit. It seems that they are in almost every fruit and vegetable. The flavonoids in them should also be an anti nutrient. I eat eggs, fish and meat every day, but I do also eat approximately 700 grams of fruit and vegetables every day. Many different types of course, but nearly always tomatoes, spinach or broccoli, and that should be bad, but also contains a lot of vitamin k. Do you think it's a problem? I have always believed that fruits and vegetables are healthy, but are they?

Health / Bacteria and parasites?
« on: December 27, 2011, 04:20:20 am »
Hi. I have been eating cooked paleo for 2 years now. But now I have read that eating raw meat is healthier and I believe that, but as many other people, I'm afraid of parasites and bacteria. So I found out that freezing the meat for 2 weeks kills most of the parasites, and the meat I buy should be pretty safe, when it comes to parasites. Do you think freezing kills the good enzymes and bacteria too?
I am buying ground beef, its organic, mostly grass fed. Its the best I can get here.

I'm not that scared of bacteria, except salmonella. Especially one named salmonella dublin sounds really dangerous, and its mostly found in beef. But isn't it old and weak people who dies from that? I sometimes think that they exaggerate to scare people from being healthy. I have heard of many people who eats medium raw meat every day and they are still alive, though is sounds like you will drop dead if you look at a raw beef. What do you think?
