Staple maybe not, I am 100% against being 100% anything! But you can raise insects better than cows... Same as guinea pigs, this is an argument for those who do not want to eat industrial meat and have difficulties finding good meat that meet their standards. I know some vegetarians that would eat some good meat but no way they go to the shop for ordinary meat.

If I want to eat wild game only, I would be starving. And for organic meat, I needed to buy a freezer. And I do not know if it is grain-fed or not.... We have not enough grass here. Ordinary local cows eat ...green bananas! Full of pesticide including DDT!

So I have just bought frozen beef liver...

It does not mean that is its a starvation food either!  ;)
And if our fruits are "too clean", maybe we can look for some....
They had reproductive problems in an ape center, and solved it by chance, when turning to organic left-over fruits, and the chimps could carry their pregnancy ! They had no bug before this, so not much protein. Good exemple for vegan people who think apes are vegan...

Carnivorous / Zero Carb Approach / Re: Kidney discomfort
« on: November 27, 2017, 03:09:04 am »
Could each tell how to know if this is kidney pain and not muscle pain? I can have pain in the big square muscle just bellow ribs. If I put my fingers in the trigger point, it is really the muscle.

So, where and how does it feel?

General Discussion / Re: Iron level of long time meat eaters
« on: November 27, 2017, 01:26:45 am »
As my iron and ferritin are ok in blood, but my hair iron is too high, then it shows before you really have the problem!

Also, think about relationship with copper, as there is a link, though I forgot which. And copper is linked to zinc, and meat is the highest source of zinc!

Then, think kasher.... We have to bleed animals.

Then think sea-shells: they have no iron in blood but copper. Good complement to meat.

I know you won't but I let you know that coffee will prevent some iron absorbtion! Then it is plausible that we could find some plants that do the same when eaten in salads?

General Discussion / Re: Raw mackerel, so good! All edible?

Thanks Darior!
I have already experimented eye explosion lol....
I thought sushi had some problems due to raw and no acid! That some people got worms etc. I prefer ceviche!
Mackerel might be the right word, I had caballa. They have no scales. Actually I made a broth with skin and espinas, or else how to remove all the flesh between tiny bones?

WE have a scaly fish here called vieja, and it gives the best broth you can imagine! And I think glycine is very beneficial, so I prefer to cook the parts that give broth and get the gelatine stuff. I do same with animal bones.

As I have found liver, this I ate. The rest of inside went to compost.

To me it seems like humans aren't meant to eat insects or worms unless in a starvation situation.
There are no insect free fruits with no treatment! And I mean when not doing even ecological care. My fruits have fruit flies.
And bugs do have a lot of fats.
Agree with Dair! I live in subtropical, and when I harvest even only vegs, I take 1 leave or 2 from each "salad" or else I have too much, as I end up sometimes with between 10 and 20 ingredients.

I came across your post because I'm trying to find a solution to get rid of my chest and back acne that I've developed. I think it could be hormonal. More specifically I suspect it's due to an imbalance in sex hormones,  but I don't know for sure.
My testosterone is sky high. That's total testosterone; I can't get free T tested here at the local blood testing centre without a referral from a doc. After a little secondary research, it seems high testosterone means high dihydrotestosterone  (DHT), which is often blamed as being a cause of hormonal acne.
Another stream of thought of mine was that perhaps (xeno)estrogens are to blame. I haven't been tested for it, but I've been traveling a lot the past 15 months or so, and so had to resort to drinking from plastic bottles most of the time. I quit this about 7 weeks ago. Instead I've been drinking only raw river water, which I collect and store in glass. I started including raw powdered broccoli and kale in my diet about 3 weeks ago, as well as fresh turmeric. Some days I think there's improvement and some days I'm like, nah there's no improvement. I guess I'll have to give it a few months.
Another thing to note, my body fat % is, I would estimate about 9%.
Part of me thinks I should try and lower my testosterone (f*** knows how), but then I think surely testosterone can't be the problem.
Any insights?
You can be transforming some testosterone into estrogen too.... As I do not have the problem I do not remember all the details, but I have seen explanations about hormones in the forum hack stasis. I guess you will never try acutane as did some unfortunate ex-users with side effects.

I would do a hair analysis from ARL or trace elements before taking any mineral even zinc, as it can unbalance your copper. My % was the reverse of what I guessed!

Isn't the wai diet good for acne?

We are now too many on earth to rely on wild game only... And even to rely on animal foods only.... Population would not have increased if we had kept a paleo diet, and vegetarians argue badly when they say they have the solution, as this is only the solution to postpone the problem of food for everybody.

At least my guinea pigs eat only from my land, and I know all herbs and all what they can eat. The only problem is to see the euphorbia peplus when I cut herb.... I did eat my first in pery too and saw the preparation. Little meat because they are small of course! But they eat the skin too, and also fry the intestine. This I would not eat raw.

They taste more like rabbit than chicken. They are not time consuming if you have a garden that you weed. I do a selecgive weeding as I am skilled in recognising plants and know when I have to remove them, and I leave what I can, so that I cut and not pull weeds that are edible both for me and the guinea pigs! But I have to be here for feeding....

I also want to raise insects and plan to start with meal worms.

BTW, no wild game here appart from rats and some rare rabbits and lizards! Fish yes of course in an island....

34
How would you suggest one go about breeding healthy grass fed animals?
Easy: breed Guinea pigs!
They eat almost all grass leaes veggies and fruits.
They have no disease like rabbits.
At home like it was done in Perou and equador, you can have them. Almost no noise, they do not bite, they do not dig nor jump. They also give compost for your garden...

General Discussion / Raw mackerel, so good! All edible?
« on: November 23, 2017, 07:40:01 am »
I got really fresh mackerel yesterday. I had bought 3 fish. I thought I was going to cook them very slowly and little, but decided to try it raw while I was cleaning them. It was so good that I ate all the fish! Then I put the others in a jar with orange and lemon. Actually I ate 3 fish in 1 day. But not all raw, I still have soup today. I make the soup to remove all from the bones.

Is it ok to eat raw fish with no lemon/acid? Is raw fatty fish ok? How long can you keep it without getting the harmful stuff in non fresh fish?

I have  question about cleaning the fish, and what has to be removed. I removed what looked like stomach. It was very different from and terrestral animal and was a bit lost in the anatomy... How can I get explanations? Thanks

So, I've solved my problem by supplementing with magnesium citrate every day. I can now eat as much fat as I want with no problems.

I have a few ideas as to why it worked and what my problem was, although I am interested in hearing what everyone's opinion here is. And, any, more natural alternatives I could use instead of magnesium citrate?
Can you tell more? What is the problem making you lack Mg?
Green leaves have Mg. Magnesium carbonate is an option, but citrate is not that bad!

Look into chemistry, glycation, maillard reaction AGEs, and you will see... then try to not brown any food including onions, then try to cook less and less until new habits and tastes form!

You can try a short slow cooking with coconut oil and some water and covering it. Then see about what spices are not irritant, use enough salt to taste, and use vinegar, lemon juice even orange juice... Eat well preparred tartare in a good restaurant...

My prefered spice is my jar of turmeric slowly cooked in coconut oil and very little pepper, as this is an irritant. Turmeric oils are supposed to be released in oil, thus the tip and the benefit of cooking it.

Also, I use raw good veggies as a mix, for texture reasons and also help to chew and mix with the meat. If you pay attention to tastes and are inventive in your mixes.... then it is a new artistic world opening!

lol make bone broth!   -d

It is not eating but drinking!  :o

Or do you mean tools? I know that you can make a stinky anti deer black stuff by burning bones, I forgot the recipe as I have no deers here. Then you paint the bark of your trees with it.

I compost them, as the humic acids of the compost attack them and eventually minerals are leaching little by little...

Health / Re: Essential Oils?
« on: November 13, 2017, 05:37:20 am »
Even on the skin I do not like sunflower seed oil for its excess in omega 6, as they pass through the skin. I stick to olive oil...

Aloe seems to mix well with oil... It seems to be making an emultion.

A good recipe ofr very dry hands having to repair them after cement work for example. 1st massage in some coconut oil. 2nd pass some aloe on the skin, it will make a "milk", and your skin will suck like crazy. Put gloves and keep this overnight, incredible result the next day. Some for feet with socks. I have done it with real aloe from my plants. Much beter than each ingredient alone.

This I think that it is fine with essential oils as well.

I am just wondering what you guys think about using essential oils for a variety of different heath issues?

I see a lot of good things about them online but am hesitant to believe the hype

For example.
tea tree oil and clove oil
I use them a lot, but you have to get a good book to not make mistakes.
Tea tree can become an alergisant for some persons if used pure and too often.
Also, many have hormon like effects, and you cannot know what it is going to do to you apart from the mere use you hope for! So do not use any oil tht is said to be abortifacient or stimulant. You cannot "be careful" with these, and they will affect your hormone/endocrine levels.

Lavander is super good for the skin and healing burns for example, and it is safe.
Also, think about using them as olfacto-therapy, or in inalation for bronchitis and sinusitis.

I never use them in a bath: if pure, they go on the surface and can burn you, and if you dilute them with the necessary..... in all cases .... well this is not paleo, as you spoil too much of a rare resource! How much trees, leaves, flowers etc, for our mere pleasure? Let them for the sparce spot on use!

Spices are supposed to be bad for hemorroids at least! So I would try this first, stop them.
No idea if raw or cooked meat has an effect there, for me it is more noticeable "upward".

Display Your Culinary Creations / Re: Whipped egg whites are nasty
« on: November 10, 2017, 04:17:44 pm »
I considere as cooked what has been boiled. And then is raw what has not been heated over what can stand enzymes, little more than fever stage in the body!

And there is a vague in between... not raw but not really cooked, and that can help for a few things like not having nasty egg white! Also useful for fish. Also kale or cabbage was "cooked" like this a very long time, as cabbage familly leaves are not very digestable if cooked with boiling bubbles.

For whipped egg whites, only in chocolate mousse they are yummy! The mousse is raw but... Well I have done it with bananas. I also do raw white, but mixed because this is not yummy.

General Discussion / Plant poisonned animal: to eat or not to eat?
« on: November 10, 2017, 06:47:32 am »
The culprit is in general euphorbia peplus, and maybe some mercurialis, though this one is not so toxic... They are the only toxic plants I find. It is quite strange that animals, rabbits etc eat euphorbia among other herbs!

The amoount is so small that I do not think there can be a problem for human consumtion.

Who has an idea how the poisonning occurs and where is the toxin in the animal body? Of course a dead animal cannot be bleeded.

Thanks for any informations

Health / Re: Liver problems, high cholesterol - NEED HELP
« on: November 10, 2017, 06:27:42 am »
I would eat bitter greens like dandelion and artichoke leaves and even olive leaves, and milk thistle seeds. I eat greens with a lot of apple vinegar.

I also had some high cholesterol though not that much, and some liver congestion, and I solved it with olive oil mixed with citrus juice 1st thing in the morning to do some liver flush. No fat for dinner.

Bile is made of cholesterol, so you have to flush it out, and also bile will remove toxins. Olive oil is for me the best at doing this. Not only organic and cold pressed, I choose the strongest taste, not the ones they sell as "mild".

I also eat wild weeds and some regular veggies, and I am surprised if some avoid them, as they were as part of the diet as raw meat, after all we are omnivores! I like to eat meat with veggies or with fruits.

I would be interested to know more about other nightshades, as tomato has a lot of lectine as well!
Nighshades seem to be out of the psoriasis diet too...

I am not cealiac but gluten intolerant, and I have finally let down all starches, and by instinct I noted I did not eat potatoes... MY potatoes from the garden were staying all winter and ready for planting in spring! And I love potatoes....
